I've seen like 3 episodes of the cartoon series and I loved this movie. The only thing I really hated was how they pronounced Aang's and Sokka's names.
this movie was stupid. ive never hated a movie as much as this. this was compeltley stupid, the actors should be embarrassed to even be in this film so wrong and so bad.
This movie was GARBAGE. I didn't expect everything to be in the movie, but come on, how could you edit out so much of it? The actors were crap and WTF was with the firebending? And I HATE iroh and sokka's character's! They were totally ruined.

Airbender hardly made enough money to compensate for what it cost to make it and it was hated by 90% of the fans at least. If they were going to make it the plan was to have one released every two years, which would mean the next one would be released this summer, as you can see there is no Book 2 being released this summer, ergo no Book 2 period. Shyamalan destroyed beyond repair. REBOOT!

Stop complaining about every little thing, or change (THE CREATORS approved). The film was awesome. They grounded the film realistically, and the heart of the film was it's triumph. The cartoon is what everyone wanted to see, yes, but fans need to realize the story is what counts. With this films story, and message being the same as the shows; I believe fans need to appreciate the film for that. The Last Airbender wasn't a masterpiece, and had it's weak spots, but it still is a nice adaptation.
@J0Nramirez they changed so much stuff from the show if they made any sequels it wouldn't be possible to follow the actual show. The movie was awful in every way.
What I don't get about this movie is how bad the acting is. In every single M. Night movie so far...even his virtually-unseen first movie, "Wide Awake"... he has shown incredible skill with directing child actors. But in this movie, the kid actors were all bad-to-terrible. I seriously don't get it.
@pgill15 I didn't mind Zuko so much, he was never meant to be pretty - it was his uncle I didn't like. He was always my favourite character in the anime, and you didn't get the peaceful fat jolly man who regrets his past and just wants the world to get along vibe that he had in the series at all

I just finished the first season and I was really surprised at how good it was. After I watched a few episodes I got why fans of the cartoon were so disappointed with the movie. I've been telling all my friends to check it out. The cartoon is awesome, the movie not so much.

I know they did allot of things wrong like making firebenderd need a resource of fire to bend it.
But still, give them a break, they had to fit a whole series in 1 movie.
Needed less Tai Chi moves and more character development. I did like Asiv Mandvi's performance (the guy from The Daily Show). He was the best thing in the movie. Don't think we will see a part 2.

Also I think it is fucking brilliant that they are having individual stories for each member of the avengers team and then bringing all of them together. @coolstuff150 the movie is supposed to come out in like 2012 or 2013 but movie's always get preset and then set later. The reviews was supposed to put thor in 2010 yet that didn't happen. They put that back another year. So yeah, the avengers is going to take a while. But... it is going to be AWESOME!

I'm a bit disappointed to see the brown guys got cast as the bad guys! In the cartoon the fire nation was white and the water tribes were brown. And a brown guy directed it!! I Think M.night sold out on his brothers in this one!

Some of these characters seem messed up... Aang is supposed to be funny and goofy... not all strict and boring... Don't get me wrong, I LOVED the anime!
Shyamalan wrote the script and directed the film and had a lot of power on it. The film is an epic fail because it had all the "elements" excuse the pun, to be a great summer blockbuster and he blew it by overloading with exposition, ploddy pacing and overloading the same kata throughout ultimately overstylising the entire thing. The music by James Newton howard is great though and helped make a great wave sequence a worthy finale albeit followed swiftly by a cliffhanger :(
@fixated247 Shyamalan always has complete creative control over his movies, right down to owning the movie and sequel rights. He Paid Nickelodeon for the movie rights to Airbender and made the movie he wanted to make. He's even gone on the record and said that there isn't going to be a Director's cut of Airbender because this movie is the Director's cut.

Looks to be a good movie. Yeah it has changes from the original but so does every movie and they always turn out good (most of the time). It's just different peoples oppinions and to be honest it doesn't matter who likes it and who doesn't it should still be showen for those who want to see it and won't judge it.

its too bad this movie wasn't that good. its all paramount pictures fault. M. Night Shyamalan didn't want this movie to be in 3d, but paramount thought it would bring in a bigger audiance if it was. however, paramount thougt it would take too much time and effert to make a movie this long in 3d, so they cut out 30 whole minutes of the film! As a result, the movie was all action and had almost no plot and no one really cared about the characers. no plot/character develupment =bad movie
@2012cloudy just curious where you got this info from as I had read that M. Night Shyamalan had agreed to have the conversion to 3D done and worked closely with the 3D conversion company. It even cost another $10m or so to have it done and M. Night Shyamalan said that he wants to shoot the next film in 3D instead of having it done in post! Don't know if I blame the studio so much.. Shyamalan wrote the script and directed the film and had a lot of power on it. He wrote too much exposition =bad!
@2012cloudy Uh, no. The didn't make him cut it so that it would bring in a bigger audience or so they could run it more times per day. It ran as many times a day as Clash of the Titans which was almost 20 minutes longer. And Airbender made less money. It wasn't cut to make the 3D conversion cheaper or easier either. Clash got a last minute 3D conversion and still cost less than Airbender. Remember, people who saw the movie in Feb. said it sucked and that was before before the cuts.
@2012cloudy The reason this movie is so choppy and messed up is because Shyamalan is a perfectionist and a control freak. He just made cut after cut all on his own because the movie wasn't right to him. He kept cutting and making changes until he turned a movie that was a passable D grade (according to most of the test screeners) into a a solid F. He made the same mistake when he made Lady in the Water. If you don't believe me just read the interviews. He takes full credit.

@2012cloudy So your going to tell me if this movie wasn't in 3D that the acting quality, dialogue, and cheesy martial arts would have saved the movie. And most of the 30 minutes they cut out of the film had to do with the Kyoshi warriors and it was M. Night's decision to take them out. He said it would leave the audience expecting them to come back for a huge finale and he didn't want to leave the film with that feeling. To bad it sucked either way.

But the film has at least a couple of known skilled actors, especially Dev Patel (Zuko), who proved his skill beyond doubt in Slumdog Millionaire. But every. Single. Actor. In this film was awful including him, which tells us that it's not their fault, it's the director (Shyamalan) and the writer (Shyamalan again).

The movie is actually good if you never watch the Anime first. And when making movies, things tend to get editted, movies can't last that long like the anime. You have to agree that the effects were great despite the storyline changed quite a lot.
I really like the cartoon series of avatar at nick. When i got the news last year about the movie i'm so excited and last week i watch it. I don't like the ending maybe because it's only book one. i really want to watch the full episode of AVATAR like the twilight saga.. I hope next year the book 2. Earth...

Also I think it is fucking brilliant that they are having individual stories for each member of the avengers team and then bringing all of them together. @coolstuff150 the movie is supposed to come out in like 2012 or 2013 but movie's always get preset and then set later. The reviews was supposed to put thor in 2010 yet that didn't happen. They put that back another year. So yeah, the avengers is going to take a while. But... it is going to be AWESOME!

I'm a bit disappointed to see the brown guys got cast as the bad guys! In the cartoon the fire nation was white and the water tribes were brown. And a brown guy directed it!! I Think M.night sold out on his brothers in this one!

a mi me encanto, a pesar de que las razas de los personajes ni al caso, pero me parecio muy bien por que pusieron diversidad, y no desearon que pareciera una pelicula japonesa, me gusto muchoo :) solo que el tio Iro no tiene la gracia del original, lo demas me gusto muchisimo y el pequeño Ang me dio mucha ternura. Shyamalan wrote the script and directed the film and had a lot of power on it. The film is an epic fail because it had all the "elements" excuse the pun, to be a great summer blockbuster and he blew it by overloading with exposition, ploddy pacing and overloading the same kata throughout ultimately overstylising the entire thing. The music by James Newton howard is great though and helped make a great wave sequence a worthy finale albeit followed swiftly by a cliffhanger :(

@fixated247 Shyamalan always has complete creative control over his movies, right down to owning the movie and sequel rights. He Paid Nickelodeon for the movie rights to Airbender and made the movie he wanted to make. He's even gone on the record and said that there isn't going to be a Director's cut of Airbender because this movie is the Director's cut.

Damn. Mr. M night shamalaylaylayan screwed the movie up.
First of all, Sokka is supposed to be a funny, goofy character.
And some of the actors are Caucasian, i swear this is an asian- influenced avatar world.
Iroh is supposed to also be wise.
Plus they pronounce some of the characters wrong! aw-ng, ee-roh, soak-ah,ah-vatar!
they definitely cut some important scenes out.
Well seems like shamalayayayan only skimmed through the shows.

Looks to be a good movie. Yeah it has changes from the original but so does every movie and they always turn out good (most of the time). It's just different peoples oppinions and to be honest it doesn't matter who likes it and who doesn't it should still be showen for those who want to see it and won't judge it.

its too bad this movie wasn't that good. its all paramount pictures fault. M. Night Shyamalan didn't want this movie to be in 3d, but paramount thought it would bring in a bigger audiance if it was. however, paramount thougt it would take too much time and effert to make a movie this long in 3d, so they cut out 30 whole minutes of the film! As a result, the movie was all action and had almost no plot and no one really cared about the characers. no plot/character develupment =bad movie

@2012cloudy just curious where you got this info from as I had read that M. Night Shyamalan had agreed to have the conversion to 3D done and worked closely with the 3D conversion company. It even cost another $10m or so to have it done and M. Night Shyamalan said that he wants to shoot the next film in 3D instead of having it done in post! Don't know if I blame the studio so much.. Shyamalan wrote the script and directed the film and had a lot of power on it. He wrote too much exposition =bad!

@2012cloudy Uh, no. The didn't make him cut it so that it would bring in a bigger audience or so they could run it more times per day. It ran as many times a day as Clash of the Titans which was almost 20 minutes longer. And Airbender made less money. It wasn't cut to make the 3D conversion cheaper or easier either. Clash got a last minute 3D conversion and still cost less than Airbender. Remember, people who saw the movie in Feb. said it sucked and that was before before the cuts.

@2012cloudy The reason this movie is so choppy and messed up is because Shyamalan is a perfectionist and a control freak. He just made cut after cut all on his own because the movie wasn't right to him. He kept cutting and making changes until he turned a movie that was a passable D grade (according to most of the test screeners) into a a solid F. He made the same mistake when he made Lady in the Water. If you don't believe me just read the interviews. He takes full credit.

@2012cloudy So your going to tell me if this movie wasn't in 3D that the acting quality, dialogue, and cheesy martial arts would have saved the movie. And most of the 30 minutes they cut out of the film had to do with the Kyoshi warriors and it was M. Night's decision to take them out. He said it would leave the audience expecting them to come back for a huge finale and he didn't want to leave the film with that feeling. To bad it sucked either way.

@2012cloudy It's not just that; most of the acting was simply terrible. But the film has at least a couple of known skilled actors, especially Dev Patel (Zuko), who proved his skill beyond doubt in Slumdog Millionaire. But every. Single. Actor. In this film was awful including him, which tells us that it's not their fault, it's the director (Shyamalan) and the writer (Shyamalan again).

The movie is actually good if you never watch the Anime first. And when making movies, things tend to get editted, movies can't last that long like the anime. You have to agree that the effects were great despite the storyline changed quite a lot.

M Night Shamwow made it so Firebenders can only firebend when fire is present. That's gonna fuck up the Avatar vs Ozai fight! There was no fire in Wulong Forest. What the hell are they gonna do?
