I mean, comparatively speaking he's not wrong by calling it the slowest and worst. The A10 is pretty slow for a jet, but only because that makes it a lot quieter, enabling it to catch the enemy off guard, and therefore protecting it from small arms/ conventional anti-air fire (not really shown in this video...), and it doesn't carry some of the larger weapons available; however, the A10 is the best at what it does: providing close support.
The crazy part to me is that what you are hearing is HEI (high explosive incendiary) rounds hitting the target and exploding.
The people who are being annihilated by the 30mm HEI rounds (1.18 inches. nearly 2.5 times larger that the 50 cal.) will never even hear the gnarly buzz of the avenger gun being fired....that thing sounds straight nasty!
When you hear that "buzz" sound...just hope you're not the enemy lol That gattling cannon is accurate from 3.5 miles. Just a really badass war machine. This is on Chuck Norris's Christmas list, folks.

They can stay on-station for hours, while most fighters can't. They're made to stay on the battlefield and put more firepower on target in a precision manner than a fighter, and be more maneuverable than a bomber, along with many other tasks you take for granted. Srsly, learn more about your bros in arms.

So what you're hearing first is the sound of the sonic booms created by the bullets passing, as well as the explosives in the high explosive incendiary rounds, and possibly some of the impacts, THEN you hear the sound of the gun as it catches up.

@und3rc0v3rbr0ther Nope. The A-10's usual loadout is combat mix, which for the Avenger is 4 rounds of Armor Piercing depleted uranium and then 1 round of High Explosive Incendiary. It also can carry just HEI, or it can carry simple training rounds. It has a max cap of 1174 rounds, but carries 1150 on a typical load. It can dump it's load in a hair over 17.5 seconds. It really is a sweet death machine.

In some cases A-10 pilots will set a program on their countermeasures that will drop chaff or flares at a certain rate, as well as activating the jammer they have, depending on what sort of air defenses are trying to paint them. If there were heat seakers, like Stinger missiles trying to lock them up while they were doing gun passes then it it is quite possible.

@TheConanification Actually, the DU round is only for shooting armor vehicles (tanks and armored personnel carriers), HE (high explosive) is for ground and soft targets such as warehouses being shot at in this post. Also, the DU projectile is very expensive and not as effective on the target. And, actually, it's not a Boeing, it's from Fairchild Republic Aircraft. And, actually, Boeing didn't build the gun either, it was General Electric.

Even in the field back at Drum we loved to see those things. During deployment the feeling was magnified 10 fold. Those things are awesome, a thing of beauty to say the least.

"Slowest and worst aircraft we got" - I hope he means worst that we have for the enemy. The A10 family of Close Air Support planes is not built for speed, but endurance, and time over target. They can stay on-station for hours, while most fighters can't. They're made to stay on the battlefield and put more firepower on target in a precision manner than a fighter, and be more maneuverable than a bomber, along with many other tasks you take for granted. @und3rc0v3rbr0ther The afterward BRRRRR sound is the sound of GAU/8 avenger cannon firing. Sound travels 434 meters per second, while the 30 mm rounds travel significantly faster. So what you're hearing first is the sound of the sonic booms created by the bullets passing, as well as the explosives in the high explosive incendiary rounds, and possibly some of the impacts, THEN you hear the sound of the gun as it catches up.

@und3rc0v3rbr0ther Nope. The A-10's usual loadout is combat mix, which for the Avenger is 4 rounds of Armor Piercing depleted uranium and then 1 round of High Explosive Incendiary. It also can carry just HEI, or it can carry simple training rounds. It has a max cap of 1174 rounds, but carries 1150 on a typical load. It can dump it's load in a hair over 17.5 seconds. It really is a sweet death machine.

In some cases A-10 pilots will set a program on their countermeasures that will drop chaff or flares at a certain rate, as well as activating the jammer they have, depending on what sort of air defenses are trying to paint them. If there were heat seakers, like Stinger missiles trying to lock them up while they were doing gun passes then it it is quite possible.

Without getting all "anorakey" about it, it's cool how you hear the bullets hit & THEN the sound of the gun from the plane!
Being closer to the soliders & the bullets travelling @ over twice the speed of sound, the bullets hit the target & that sound is transfered to the soliders who are closer to them than the plane which was probably a few miles off when it fired.

@TheConanification Actually, the DU round is only for shooting armor vehicles (tanks and armored personnel carriers), HE (high explosive) is for ground and soft targets such as warehouses being shot at in this post. Also, the DU projectile is very expensive and not as effective on the target. And, actually, it's not a Boeing, it's from Fairchild Republic Aircraft. And, actually, Boeing didn't build the gun either, it was General Electric.
