I actually cant name one war that was started because of religion. The Crusades? Though even then, it wasnt that the Arabs were godless heathen needing christianity, it was nobles and political leaders wanted to capture religion icons, towns, and relics, to substaniate their claims to the pope, or even become the pope themselves, or at least an elector in the holy roman empire. Most wars are due to resources. Almost all of them. Besides say, the War of the Roses, or the 7 years war.

I was in the scene back then; dived off many stages at Cameo Theatre in Miami Beach where these guys and many, many others played: GBH, Bad Brains, Seven Seconds, JFA, DRI, on and on. I was young and it was fun and we drank a lot and had little new wave girlfriends in Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach. Now I'm an investment banker with an M.A. and J.D. in NY. I was never poor or (too) mentally disturbed, and it was a wonderful year or so. No regrets.
