  • That laugh is so evil! I love Bette Davis :D

  • @cherrybombx27 Ya got that right.

  • Epic, classic film with 2 solid actresses with perfect acting. What more could you want in a film?

  • I found the dead bird scene more powerful, but it was structurally necessary to continue in a manner like this. Jane, you monster.

  • I love this movie and just think these two actually hated each other

  • superb.best 2 actresses ever to have lived

  • joan crawford is possibly the most underrated actress of all time

  • what about the dead pet budgie on the plate.......remember the movie very, very well.I was a kid,& it left a lasting impression...Does anyone remember a movie called THE DOLL....creepiest doll ever with those awful scary teeth....old b/w...killer doll...

  • Joan deserved a nomination for this jsut as much as bette did

  • love Bette, she was outstanding, best actress ever after k.hepburn and m.streep

  • copy this link into browser and watch--funny

     youtube.com/watch?v=PbKNf8Nze4E

  • I dare any man to jack off to either one of these monstrosities!

  • Marvellous scene. I savor this every time I see "Baby Jane." I keep Jane's little gambit in mind as a ploy I might borrow for some especially disliked person under the proper circumstances.

  • classic movie.love this!

  • I secretly yearn to do this to my Supervisor at work! Her greedy ass!

  • Yesterdays horror film, todays comedy.

  • 1:55 - LMFAO!!!

  • It just occured to me you could never do a remake set in modern times. Blanche would have a mobile, and would have a stairlift to get down the stairs and would opt for a ground floor bedroom anyway.

Great movie tho! So over the top! Very camp. Davis acts circles around Crawford though.

  • absolutely fantastic

  • I have watched this clip 4 times, and nearly choked laughing!!!! Just listening to Baby Jane's maniacal cackling leaves me in stitches! Why can't they make classics like this anymore? This movie is so damned FUNNY!

  • Why didnt Blanche eat those rolls?? they look perfectly delicious!

  • Rob Zombie said one time, referring to Bette Davis, that this was one of his favorite horror movie scenes ever!

BTW, Blanch brought this all on herself. turns out she is really the nasty , lying evil one! just in a passive/aggressive way! some of you people need to watch the entire movie instead of just little clips on YouTube!

  • "You know what Jane, you're a bitch. I'll show you, I'll spin around in circles for no reason while moaning. That'll teach you to feed me rats!"

    Seriously why'd she do that?

  • Because she gone crazy that's why she was spinning in that chair.

Bette was laughing her ass off and so was I. LOL!

  • are you stupid? do you even know what the movie is about?

  • @Nightman221k It's called desperation. Can you imagine, being unable to get out of the house and your only caretaker is a psychotic bent on terrorizing you? Also @ deadlycamera, sure Jane made a terrible mistake out of spite, but don't you think she's paying for it now?

  • @LethalLaurie Yeah I realize that my earlier post was dumb. Truthfully the first time I ever watched WHtoBJ I felt sorry for Blanche. However, after seeing that she brought this upon herself when she made ruining Jane her goal, I didn't feel sympathetic to her. I think Blanche only stayed in the house so long only to hurt Jane but in doing so she got an taste of her own medicine. I still think that rolling around in the chair wasn't necessary.

  • It wouldn't work with either of them.

This scene is essentional for whole movie and Jane's character. You can't help but laugh with her. However, Blanche's breakdown shakes you and remainds about how terrible Jane is. And now you're torn because you sympathize with a villain.

In this black-and-white movie nothing is really black or white.

  • I do hope she at least served two sides; asparagus, and baby mushrooms!

  • @chelseaguy52 As I said in a previous post about this scene...Jane was very courteous to put the rat on a nice garnish of tomatoes. After all, presentation is very important.

  • Oh PU-LEEEZE - Monroe and Taylor doing this movie!!! Let's just think about that one for a moment - sheesh!! That is about as believable as saying the Bette Davis was MGM's first choice to play Dorothy in The Wizard of OZ --- or even better yet, as Glinda the Good Witch. Warner Bro's was looking for a vehicle to pair these 2 broads and "Jane" came to their attention, plain and simple. Hush-Hush Sweet Charlotte was to be the 2nd pairing but Crawford took ill and was replaced by de Havilland

  • Luvs it!!!

  • Love this movie! Bette Davis is the best actress EVER!

  • It is said that had they made it with Marilyn & Elizabeth it could have either been the most famous movie to date or could of been the biggest failure movie known to date. Pairing the most famous woman of all time, with the most beautiful of all time??

  • i love elizabeth and she could have played blanche but

i love joan to and this role was ment for her

  • This movie is soooo good. Despite its campy undertones, the acting is actually quite solid. Bette in particular makes a spectacular villain. Really no one else who could've played that role half as well.

I saw the movie as a child and just rented again from Netflix. It had a special version with filmmaker commentary (young guys, not the originals of course) that was quite funny and interesting as well.

  • This movie was ment to be Marilyn Monroe & Elizabeth Taylor movie but Elizabeth turned it down for "Cleopatra" and Marilyn died in 1962.

So they decided to pair another 2 hollywood legends instead.

  • I've never heard this one! I doubt very much that this rumor was true, it seems too unplausible. Monroe's biographers don't mention it, and the story of how Joan Crawford brought the script to the attention of Davis is well known. I think it was always meant to be done with them in it.

  • is that even true?

becuase i cannot even see the two of them doing this

i said i could maybe see elizabeth as blanche(wait, or maybe jane) but those two really wouldnt be right for this ,and marilyn as jane? are you kidding me,no disrespect to her but this was way to deep a role for her to play

  • @reidb18 I did not know that, but then the outcome was great!

  • @reidb18Yeah I could just hear Marilyn singing "rats are a girls best friend"

  • OMG I love her laugh

  • LOL When she's spinning in circles...

  • Joan crawford di a grat job! In this movie

! Even though she was crazy in real life! She still was a great actress!

  • apparently Joan Crawford was Bi Sexual. becuase apparntly when Marilyn Monroe was Strugglin in the begining of her careera and did not have much clothes, joan crawford offerd her clothes and made a pass on her! lol

  • she is know to have screwed everyone in Hollywood.

  • @shinznay really? how true is that???

  • Good thing they don't have cockroaches too.

  • "But'cha'aaa, Blanche. Ya AAA in that wheelchair"

  • Classic scene.

    R.I.P. Bette

  • One of my all time favorite movies! I saw this when it first came out in '62!

  • I wonder if that old vintage Spainsh-style mansion (mission style archetechure) is still standing? I read it was in the Wilshire district, which is in old Hollywood. Does anyone know?

  • yes- it is in the Hancock Park area of L.A. at 127 S. McCadden. you can google it. all the exterior scenes were shot at this location. the architectural style is mediterranean villa.

  • Is it me or does Joan Crawford look like Gregory Peck in drag?

  • @rrmond I MET GREGORY PECK AND I CAN TELL YOU,, YEAH,, SHE LOOKS LIKE GREG PECK IN DRAG! FUNY!

  • @rrmond Just as much as Bette Davis looking like the Joker in batman.lol.

  • @rrmond wow! you're right! I never saw it before..was just thinking..that face looks so familiar! now I know from where! and Bette looks like Cesar Romero as the Joker from Batman!!

  • @rrmond LOL! I thought that she was really attractive when she was younger. Her eyebrow just needed to be plucked here...

  • not the greatest film ever...but sureley the greatest actress es perfomances

  • Almost as good as when Bette pushes Joan down the stairs in the wheelchair!

  • What?! She never pushes her down the stairs in the wheelchair! lol

  • @LexiixoxRoxx I agree! She never pushed Blanche down the stairs! ha ha

  • @glamourous888 lol I honestly don't know where people get that from!

  • @LexiixoxRoxx People who maybe must have not seen the movie yet, make predictions :)

  • The look on my sister's face when she hears abthere are rats in the cellar is priceless. She thought I'd never do it. HA!

  • Bette Davis FUCKING RULES!

  • I've got my skin like a chiken...

    Incredible both women!

This is what i call a FILM!

  • I just love this film!!!

  • I LOVE JOAN CRAWFORD!!!!!!!!!!

  • This scene is the BEST. It really sums up the apealing mixture of camp and horror that makes this film so great.

  • This is the best scene in the film!!!!! Bette and Joan deliver such a magnificent performance
