  • ...the debt is so high that all the European economies would have to be knocked down in order to make it even a tad smaller. Thus, it’s evident that costs outweigh the benefits.

While all our adversaries are devaluating their currency (even the stubborn Brits are printing money) to become more competitive in the international markets, Europe is the big international loser because of our leaders incompetence, procrastination, delays, wrong decisions, lack of appropriate policy, unity etc...

  • Turkey is poor, no money, no culture and all turks are immigrants because Turkey don't have jobs.

  • @GreekExchange

At least, Turkish people pay their taxes. Greece until recently didn't even have a normally functioning government tax office. Turkey has a booming economy, which can't be said of Greece. I'm not Turkish myself and am not particularly fond of immigration from islamic countries, but a Greek is the last person that can critise Turkey...

  • @Change6609 Are you out of your freaking mind? Everybody can criticise a country that for 1000 years history all the bring to this world is genosides, hate and wars. Hitler helped Germans economy too, shall we applaud him? What happens here in Greece isnt a result of the "lazy-Greeks" is a fucking experiment of Banks you piss of crap. It will happens to all of you, very soon. So stop this crap and be ready, they will steal your lives in a night and sell em in high-price back to you. Dampass

  • @SpnOptimus2011

No, you're wrong. The biggest mistake that one can make when experience a setback or economic problems is to point at others such as 'the banks' or 'other countries'. Instead, you should consider what you yourselves - eg the Greek people - did wrong. Greece doesn't even have well functioning basic government institutions such as tax revenue service, landownership registration etc.The Director of the Greek Central Statistic Buro is now facing charges for disclosing figures...

  • @Change6609 ok i was kinda curious but now im 100% that you have a kind of mental disorder. All the huge scandals in Greece had a 2 partners France and Germany.Im talking about billions Euros. When Greece went bankrupt those 2 countries started to spread the rummors that Greece isnt safe for Business or bank loans. Then after we went out of options on Loans those 2 countries asked us if we want some loans from them with high interest. We said yes cuz we went out of money.

  • @SpnOptimus2011 2)And then after all these guess which countries tried to sell us Defence Systems such us Raffale,Leopards,Battleships. So maybe its me but i think the whole EU "helped" the bankrupt of Greece with their political games on Aegean. All i want you to keep in mind is that Greece ecomony wasnt that bad, Greece had much Oil resources that we just found out after we sold the Greece to the banks. And not only that Gold,Osmium,Natural Gas and uranium. Its a coincidence that we just found em?

  • @SpnOptimus2011

    (2) on how bad the Greek economy really is and how big the gap is between government revenues and expenditures. Greece and the Greek people are still 'in denial'. The bad situation in Greece is the result of a culure. Idon't say that Greeks are lazy. But fact is that Greece doesn't have a real free market economy, there are way too much state controlled companies that operate ineffeciently. And there's much more corruption than in other Euro countries...

  • @Change6609 3) Its not the Greeks, its not the Culture. its a Game and it happens now to us and later to all of you.Mark my words. At the end if the Greeks is the EU problem you can kick our asses out. But rename the Union, Europe is Greek Culture/Mythology Hero you cant blame our Culture and name they Union with our culture name. You can name it "The Ignorant Pricks Union"

  • @SpnOptimus2011

I repeat: you should firstv look at your own faults and shortcomings before pointing the accusing finger at others like 'the banks' or 'other nations'. It is the Greek culture of corruption and 'clientelism' that caused the current situation. Greece wanted to adopt the Euro currency and even falsified the books in order to get it...Greece wants to have a huge army (without enemies..!) I'm sure that Greece will be accompanied out of the Euro currency zone!

  • @Change6609 "Greece wants to have a huge army (without enemies..!" That phrase is enough for me to end the conversation. You have no freaking idea about Greece situation. Read more and then come again to talk here or with PMs. Sorry that im going to tell you this again but either you are trolling around or you are a clueless arrogant prick. We should let those Persians have Europe, you dont deserve the Democracy that was given to you.

  • @Change6609 You think you know everything about a country, when in fact all your assumptions(!) are based on prejudice and stereotypes.

Anyway, you say Turkey has a booming economy; Let me remind you that in 2004-5 Greece had the greatest GDP growth in Europe. The growth was based on an economic bubble of debt, the same that Turkey is basing its growth now.

The only reason it didn't pop early is because you have your own currency, but you've run out of time.

  • @Change6609 (2)Lira has hit a year-low record, inflation is on the rise and Turkish balance of trade is one of the worst in the world, meaning that BILLIONS are leaving your country every month and never come back.

(Not that Greece is a lot better)You can use current balance account to see which country's growth is based on a bubble, USA for instance is the worst on the world. The crisis will hit them hard once the dollar starts depreciating)

This is a global crisis, and you too will be affected.

  • @mpogias13

    1. I'm not Turkish, but Dutch (2) We Dutch already feel the consequences of the Euro and Greek crisis: a government savingsprogram is beeing caried out to save E 17 billion, and probably another 4 bilion on top of that (3) this is despite of the fact that our national debts are only 62% of our GDP, so the need for further savings comes from developments abroad (4) Greece is an hopelessly corrupt country that tricked itself into the Euro zone and should never have been admitted.

  • @Change6609 Well the Dutch are amongst the least-working people in the EU, according to OECD stats, I'm not suprised the government needs to take measures.

Also, the measures all countries take are not to protect themselves from the Euro crisis, but from a greater capitalist crisis, started in 2008. All of EU has incredibly high debts, and its only getting worse. Even if Greece/Italy/Spain never joined EU, you would still have to take those measures, eventually. Thats what you don't understand.

  • @mpogias13 An average Dutch working week has 38 to 4o official hours for which one is pais. Many people make more unpaid hours though, because one feels responsible for his/her job. But what really counts is how productive we are: very! That's because we work efficiently and have heart for our job. You're right that lots of otherEU members (among which Germany and France) also have higher debts than was actually allowed by the Maastricht Euro Treaty, which said debts must be beneath 60% of GDP.

  • @Change6609 (2)Also, the average Greek person was not aware of the false stats until the last year or so. Not even earlier governments knew about it, this was just a policy adopted by a single government, and yet whole of Greece is put to blame.

A Euro would never work out, since giving completely different types of economies the same currency would mean the productive ones with industry(ie. Germany) would take advantage of the trading/tourism ones(Spain,Greece). And so it happened.

  • @mpogias13 "average Greek person was not aware of the false stats until the last year or so. Not even earlier governments knew about it, this was just a policy adopted by a single government, and yet whole of Greece is put to blame.". Right now, the newly appointed Greek Director of the government statistics Bureau is officialy charged with compaints because he 's actually presenting and publishing the (bad) correct figures on Greek State household. They say he's spreading panic...

  • @Change6609 Yeah thats another story... Because of him the governments were forced to hastily take harsh measures to protect the economy, causing the whole social unrest you usually see at your news.

Anyway, I just dislike seeing people being so controlled by the media. Greeks are used as a scapegoat for a capitalist crisis that would happen anyway, and was sped up because of the American banking system. I though better of Europeans, I though they would be more educated than that.

  • @Change6609 (3)I'm not saying its the sole reason of the crisis, but with no national currency to protect our economy from over-importing, hundreds of billions have left our country. This kept going for 7-8 years and our economy was severely weakened. Then, at the same time, Americans at Goldman Sachs etc in an attempt to weaken the rising euro over the dollar, hit Europe where it would hurt the most; Greece.

Its really a very complex series of event that lead up to this situation.

  • @Change6609 (4) Too complex for your media to describe it properly to the masses without creating a false image of the lazy/ineffective Greek worker.

You're right about the corruption though. The good thing about this crisis is people finally woke up.

Another reason we're in this pile of crap is that we use billions of Euros each year for our defence. We've learned from first hand that when shit hits the fan, you're on your own (during Cyprus invasion in 74'), and we wont let it happen again.

  • @Change6609 You cannot even imagine how it feels like having a neighboor with oversized military armed too the tooth knocking at your door. And before you say that we're "imagining things", you should do some research on Turkish military programs. They're equipping amphibious vehicles, military bridges, and getting a navy. The extremely offensive nature of their army leaves us no other choice than to spend billions on defense. EU/NATO are also not helping at all. Interest only matters for them...

  • @mpogias13

Hi againg! Re. the turkish military build up etc.: The Turks have 2 issues they need an army for: 1. to suppress the kurdish people and rebels in the north (I think the Turks should better talk with them and possiibly give them some level of autonomy) and 2. oil and gas interests: the turks don't like it that oil/gas was found near Cyprus because they fear that might undermine their position as important supplier of it to europe. But I don't notice turkish agression towards Greece..

  • @Change6609 There is also a lot of gas/oil south of Crete and in the Aegean that we can't use because they will find an excuse for war just to take it.

Turkey is VERY aggressive towards Greece. Its one of the few countries (if not the only one) that did not sign the international sea treaty, and has put a casus belli on Greece if we expand our terittory at sea by 6 nauticam miles. (a right that we have according to international laws). They agreed to it until 1974 (invasion of Cyprus).

  • @Change6609 (2) ,when they won against a defenceless island. This gave them a nationalism boost that made them very hostile against Greece. They fly every day over our national airspace and sometimes our islands (!) with military jets, yet we cannot respond to their immature behaviour because we don't want to start a war. Our fighters just push them away to Turkey. This happens every single day.

  • @mpogias13

That jets of two Nato member countries fly over each other's air space is totally normal. This happens every day too over here: british, belgian, german etc jets fly over the Netherlands. They only have to ask permission from Nato air traffic control. The fact that Turkey is a Nato member too, is also a guarantee for Greece that Greece's territorial sovereignty is respected. If necessary, other Nato countries will see to that.

  • @Change6609 Sorry but its NOTHING like daily fly overs between the air spaces of two European countries.

Turkey and Greece joined hastily to have temporary stability after WW2. Turkey and Greece do NOT consider each other allies in anyway, not the governments, nor the people.

I can't say a lot of things in a youtube comment. But I know my countries affairs much better than any European. Make a little research if you're interested enough and you will probably understand what I'm talking about.

  • @mpogias13

Actually it would be a very good thing if Greek-turkish relations would improve much. This would take a lot of 'work' on both sides. But the advantages would be: large reductions in military spendings, trade between the two of you, Greece would benefit much form starting to exploit the oil/gas reserves near Crete and in te Aegean (very welcome in these times!). Maybe there is a role for Nato (or for the EU) to stimulate partnership between you.

  • @Change6609 NATO doesn't really want to do that, because they are making profit from it.Think of it. Americans,Germans and the French have made billions each year because of our arms race. It would be bad for business ;)

Not to mention nobody in Greece or Turkey would want friendship/partnership. If you knew in detail what happened between us you could understand why.

Don't forget that Turkey is a militarist state, their generals are practically in power. We cant agree with those nationalists.

  • @mpogias13

Nato only wants one thing: peace and quitness among their members. I don't think that Nato countries earn much with supplying military equipment to Turekey and Greece: America pays billions of dollars per year to Turkey and probably to Greece to. Shortly they were even prepared to deliver tanks to Greece, that would only have to pay for their transportation costs. Compare all EU / ECB loans (never back paid) from EU countries with military deleveries and the last ones are very minor

  • @Change6609 They've earned billions from this arms race. And they will keep doing so. America has never given any money to Greece except during the Marshall plan, after WW2. I don't know about Turkey, though.

And about the 400 tanks they will give us for free, its going from their surplus (they're sitting in hangars, they cost to maintain and are useless), and we're going to pay for transport costs (8.5 million). Not to mention, they will profit from it in the long run from selling spare parts :)

  • @mpogias13

Well, Greece paying for the transportation costs of these tanks (which still amount to several millions of dollars) will not be accepted by the other Euro countries! Because this is not a necessary expenditure! Our money is meant to keep Greece afloat and away from bankruptcy and not for other stuff. I believe meanwhile the whole tank delivery has been cancelled btw.

  • @Change6609 Transportation costs is just 8.5 million, its so insignificant you can be sure its not non-Greek money. You know, Greece isn't a very small country, there are 11.000.000 taxpayers generating hundreds of billions of income each year. You or anyone have no say as to what we're going to do with our own money.

And no the tank delivery has not been cancelled, our army's engineers are in the US selecting the best tanks of the surplus. Its 8.5 million, not 8.5 billion, lol.

  • @mpogias13

I'm sorry, but you know aswell as I that Greece doesn't even have a normally functioning tax revenue service. They don't even know where all those that should pay taxes live, or what they earn. Greece also doesn't have a basis instition like a land ownership registration. The money the EU gave to Greece a couple of years ago to create such an instituion has been spent on other things like government employees'salaries...Not 1 Euro of us should be spent on Greek military stuff...

  • @Change6609 Who said its your damned euro? Its not. Second of all, Greece does have an instituion for land ownership registration. Looks like your idiotic northern media keeps feeding people bullshit.

Greece does have a normally functioning tax revenue, there just some some "privileged" people , usually rich/politicians that did not pay proper tax. Its now all being worked on, and it takes time to find out who has done it.

Next time make some research and use your brain before posting.

  • @mpogias13 I say it is our 'damned Euro', because Greece is receiving billions of Euro's from The European Central Bank and the IMF. Other Euro members have guaranteed these loans and if Greece doesn't pay back (which is most likely because the Greek state is virtually bankrupt), each Euro state looses the guaranteed loans. This will have to be paid by the countries' taxpayers. So by me. My info comes from good sources. You'd better check the media you follow. Greece doesn't have time anymore...

  • @Change6609 Its loans, not free payments or something It stops being "yours" the moment you accept a loan.

Greece is just the 2% of Europe's economy, you really think we caused any crisis? Thats as ignorant as idiotic. If it was just us like you're implying other states such as Spain,Portugal,Italy and Ireland wouldn't also have such great debts.

Greece's economy would have been back at its feet now if Europeans didn't want to make profit from our own crisis by giving loans with high interest..

  • @Change6609 ..rates, that on a scale of billions its really a burden for our economy. Basically most of EU countries are heavily in debt, since many of them are well above the Maastricht treaty limit of 60% of Sovereign Debt to GDP. There are three major tools to deal with it: austerity, devaluation and bankruptcy. At this very moment, the European debt is beyond anyone’s imagination. Just because Germany has a 5% development growth, it doesn’t mean that everything....

  • @Change6609 ...is going well neither that it doesn’t have an enormous debt; quite the contrary. Besides, in order for Germany to have this kind of development, the presence of strong economies that buy its products and services is vitally important. If all the European economies fail, then Germany will have no buyers. This somehow seems to be slipping their minds. So, this austerity that Europe has decided upon is with no doubt the wrong policy to be implemented, because....

  • @Change6609 The Eurozone is doomed to fail due to its members trying to profit from each others crisis. The reason this is happening is because Europe even though it is united in terms of military and economy it doesn't exist as a single political entity.Don't even mention the European Parliament, its a complete joke.

Europe will come crashing down because of its lack of likemindedness and its refusal to print money like anyone else does, not because of little insignificant Greece.

  • @mpogias13 Yeah, of course... when your economy is in trouble and you have hard times borrowing money on the international capital markets, you simply print some more money! Now that's a recipe for disaster! Because money only has value because there is a limited amount of it and therefore people are willing to accept it. You as a Greek are the last one that can critise Europe because you only benefit of it and European and IMF supervision on the Greek economy is your only chance for improvement

  • @Change6609 Everyone will benefit from it since everyone is heavily in debt, not just Greece. All EU countries want money to be printed except for Germany, Netherlands and Finland ( i think), since they want to buy land/resources in southern countries before saving them. Printed money will be invested in increasing the GDP of EU countries.

Money will be printed anyway, Germany and other idiotic northeners are just slowing the process down to make more money out of it. Get your facts straight.

  • @mpogias13

Germany will never allow the moneypresses to roll. Apparently you don't know what happend to the German economy as a result of excessive money printing in the early thirties of last century: Hyper inflation combined with stagnation. I still have a banknote worth 1 million 'Reichsmark', with which you could merely buy an egg..

Btw: the Greek economy has never been in a good state. Greece already went bankrupt 4 times in the last century.

  • @Change6609 Anyway, talking to you is probably pointless since the Dutch are amongst the most racist people in Europe (its well known, yes), and you're probably too uneducated and ignorant to see what is actually going on. Keep believing the crap your low-quality media is feeding you, and good luck with your life.

  • @mpogias13 Well, no thanks for calling us racist and me uneducated. That pretty much ends our discussion.

  • @Change6609 Re ante gamhsou koloskopiane pou peinas kai erxesai sthn ellada gia douleia. Re ante oust, mathan na milan oi pithikoi. You are monkey, you have hunger, your country was born in bankcrupt and your patriots come to greece for jobs. Oh yes and you are immigrants in other countries, you left your own country. Greece will be never bankcrupt, first 70% of our debt will be get out and than wen have a lot of money for a growth. Ok little boy?? Search a job! Motherfucker

  • @Change6609 Also, Greece is trying to explore for oil in the Aegean and exploit it, especially in these times of need, and Turkey is heating up the tensions because they want to have part of it. If you saw the video about the dispute you would understand.

Even though I'd support good Greco-Turkish relations, realistically speaking this is never going to happen. (Both people have helped each other in times of need but yet we still hate each other, weird huh?)

  • @Change6609

Pilots "die in collisions", "training" all the time. The "alliance" has 0 meaning. In a day we could be at war. There is a cold war going on. Their ministers just the other day admitted on their media that MIT (CIA of Turkey) was burning the Greek forests during summers to damage our tourism and economy....

After invading our little sister , Cyprus in 74', they've got VERY aggresive. Watch this...:

/watch?v=WOKrYJADM9s to see more about their violations of our FIR.

  • @Change6609 Lastly, the only reason they haven't crushed the rebels yet is because the Turkish governments want to have an "enemy" for the eyes of the people, to keep their nationalism high. All fascist governments do that.

Plus, they don't need amphibious vehicles (stationed @ borders with Greece) to take out any rebels, or intimidate Cyprus. They're very aggresive towards everyone.

This all happens because of a dream rooted deep inside the Turkish mentality. They want to be an Empire again...

  • @Change6609 Anyway, sorry for this whole wall of text but you mentioned a subject that really cannot be discussesd in Youtube. Its not white & black, there are no good and bad guys as they want you to believe.

My friendly advise to you would be to search for the stuff they don't tell you... media ,especially in the north tends to show things too one-sided.

  • @Change6609 Ante gamisou re malaka, gia keita thn ftoxh sou xwra kai ante sto diaolo, skatofatsa

  • From today's news: despite of the severe crisis the country is in now and it dependency on money from the IMF and other European countries, Greece ordered 400 Abrahams tanks in the USA.... This is exemplary for the Greek state of mind: that the situation isn't that bad at all and they can keep on spending large sums of money and that Europe will take financially care of them...

  • what you wrote give the wrong immpression. Greece did not order new abram tanks, they are used and they are given from the usa for free. greece it expected only to pay for the shiping to greece some 15 million usd. the M-1 is to be replace old M-48 tanks that had already gone many upgrades and its now 60 years old! greece if takes those tanks it would not spend money from eu or imf. actually greece stop buying arms over 5 years now, and the M-1 its the only chance to replace old tanks for free
