  • This goes back to when strippers were entertainers and not just wannabes who couldn't do anything else to earn a buck. One of my best friends in high school came up with her own strip act to this song. What a hoot it was. We were all LOFAO!!!

  • Is this not the fabbest tune you ever did hear?

  • @future21st My thought exactly!!!

  • My mom had this album when I was a kid in the early seventies. I wore it out.....

  • BTW- David Rose was JUDY GARLAND's first husband !!!!

  • Formerly Sir Bastard of Epping Flipton, may I yalp you?

  • Funny Most of the pics are of Betty Page...not Gypsy Rose Lee

  • Batter up!

How many dead babies you got up there?

  • Now put it back in is ed...

  • @SuperXavier30, As a kid of the sixties and treasuring what little I had of my girlie magazine collection I had under my little league uniform, glove, coin and stamp collection, I can't tell you how great it is to see this, my childhood memories.Old classic stag and I even saw Jack Ruby's tittie bar girls interviewed "live' on the assassination coverage.

  • David Rose was Judy Garland's first husband.

  • Some discomfort is to be expected.

(They don't want a phone. It's not the phone they want)...

I'm not sure what any of this has to do with any of it, but look at the old bastard smile...

  • Oooh, look at that one, "Doctor"...I'll take that one off of you....

"Head of forensic psychiatry"....take that one off of you....

Having a good Ponce party were you? STILL?

    Ahh...."Fellas"...

  • ...so I"ll take THAT title off of you, that title off of you, oooh "Heavyweight Champion of the World"...hmm...take that one off of you, "Sir" (personal fave), I"lll take THAT one off of you...

Do I look like Robbie Williams to you?

  • A rather LARGE cost associated with that error correction and proofread.

  • the cover for the record said "David Rose and his orchestra play 'The Stripper' and Other Family Fun Songs". How in the hell is this a family song?!

  • Go on get it off , we won't look .

  • David Rose was comedian Red Skelton's musical director for his TV shows, and you know a hot mama was coming out on stage when the band would start playing this! (BTW, Rose's "Holiday for Strings" served as Skelton's theme song on TV.)

  • If you really like a GOOD strip tease look up the You Tube video of Ditta Von Tease at the Shim Sham Club. I have to admit 2:36 in the video with that lovely bum of hers is my favorite part of the video.

  • My school's jazz band played this at Desert Ridge Concert, and it was called "The Song." My my my, I just now realize how blatant this song is.

  • as bart simpson would say"aye carumba!".before am radios changed formats on where i live they would play this on their oldie weekend shows.that's how i heard this instrumental classic.oh la la!

  • In the late 60'S or early70'S, I was just the fat kid in the 7Th grade. Our class was picked to do a skit for the entire Jr.high school in assembly. Someone got the brilliant idea of doing the Joe Namath real life commercial. Well, up the ladder I went to climb out of a 7'ft high Brylcreem Tube in a dress, long blonde wig and over-sized bra doing a strip-tease as they played "The Stripper" by David Rose. I was a huge hit. for just a while i wasn't just the fat kid

  • @ldssrrsr ,.Great story!.. Thanks for sharing!

  • @ldssrrsr yeah great story fatty

  • We play this in marching band at football and basketball games. We also have a cheer in which we thrust alot. Oh yeah...we're classy ;D

  • RIP Rick Rude

  • Heard this on yahoo radio today and it reminded me of an episode of "The Nanny" ... had to look it up again. David was married to Judy!

  • That girl from "Jersey Shore" at :50.

  • @tamerswan Just someone who thinks that particular section of the music captures the "spirit" of the song.

  • THIS.. is modern journalism..it is laid out..all the hoopla..the splash, the dash and ooou almost the gash; what used to be reporting by a watchdog press turned into a lapdog press and now it's near naked tease........'is my make up right?'....ok lights, cam on 3, 2........

    C'mon folks.......investigate and report...or be honest......play this theme song!

  • I want this played at my funeral.

  • The best part of this song is 1:13 to 1:32.

  • Great song by a great composer.

  • He had a handful of copies put on vinyl and handed it to orchestra members as novelty gifts. Four years later someone at MGM Records pulled it from the archives and put it on the "B" side of "Ebb Tide."

  • I got this info from the History ch. site. While working on the show Burlesque in '58, Rose decided to score a dressing-room scene with music playing softly in the background as if barely audible from backstage. He wrote 8 measures and forgot about it. He later added the brass, clarinets and percussion to record a slightly extended version.

  • They should play this on punk'd or a TV program in the shower rooms to show people up in their country on TV ;)

  • I feel a litle bit naughty listening to this. Risque! But in alll srsness, great tune!

  • It was used in "The Sting", which is funny, because the sting takes place in the mid-1930's. It fits a burlesque act of that era, and its not like it was so improper that it should make somebody stand up and walk out of the theater that it was almost 30 years out of place. But still...an anachronism.

  • @Sactreats I don't recall it being in the movie. It's not listed on the soundtrack. I have the soundtrack on album/vinyl. I watched it at the theater. I remember the song from when I was a kid...early 60's. We played it at a slumber party and all the girls danced to it. At that time we were teens. I remember the song being used on tv shows...and the commercial for the shave cream.

  • Respond to this video... and I stand officially corrected. I went back to watch it on Netflix to the particular scene, about ten minutes into the movie when Robert Redford goes to meet his girlfriend at the burlesque theater where she works after he made the big score. So while its definitely similar (for obvious reasons), you're right, its not the same song. I don't think the one I was thinking of made it to the soundtrack, either. I think the only music that did make it to the soundtrack...

  • @Muffett53 ...were the reorchstrated Scott Joplin numbers.

  • Nothin' like it...I remember this one from my childhood. OH that era...the 50's going to the 60's. And good ol' Hugh coming out with Playboy...and the 'free love' hippies. So much changed and so much openness. It opened me up to NOT being shy. Have been that way ever since. To say the least. Yep..the 50's opened up a HUGE can of worms. They have been WIGGLING out ever since. lol

  • @Muffett53 ,..Always good to reminisce,..Thanks for sharing!

  • Moriarty0001 is the 1 here on YouTube who has the original 1957 version of Rose's "Stripper" music from an album called "Impact 01"-It's terrific if u didn't hear it yet!

  • Hi SuperXavier30-Just checked out the other "Stripper" music video from Impact 01 here on YouTube and-u r correct-The original version of David Rose's Stripper music was indeed from 1957 instead of 1962-Did u c the Impact 01 video here on YouTube with the 1957 version?-U might have since it's here but.....the version that is more famous still appears 2 b the 1 from 1962-Thanks 2 u and the Impact 01 video 4 all this information-1 last thing 2 say-Rose was married 2 Judy Garland and Martha Raye.

  • @tamerswan Yeah, he was married 1st 2 Judy Garland and after they divorced, he married Martha Raye-D.Rose met Martha Raye in 1938 when she was singing a number 4 a show or movie and D.Rose was there with his orchestra playing the music 2 Martha's singing-I saw the video and film clip of it here on YouTube-If I can find it again here, I will let u know so u can c it 2.

  • And one further comment...Bettie Page really enhances this video...Many more thanks...

  • Thank you for sharing this classic David Rose burlesque tune with music fans worldwide, but younger listeners may not know that Rose (1910-1990) also composed the original theme for "Bonanza" in 1959, and later, three Michael Landon television series, "Little House on the Prairie" (1974), the spin-off, "Father Murphy" (1981) and "Highway to Heaven" (1984)...He was a classic composer, and your posting is much appreciated...Thanks again...

  • shit I am naked!

  • Hey It's the song from the old Noxcema Shaving Cream commercial with Joe Namanth....

  • David Rose was the musical director for Red Skelton's TV show. (Rose's "Holiday for Strings" was Skelton's theme music). And every time a hot woman would come out for a sketch, this is what the orchestra played. Yowsah!

  • @WSenator1 yes i remember watching Red Skelton's TV show back in the early '70's but didn't know that David Rose and his orchestra were the guys playing the music 2 his show until later. Don't know if u or any1 here knows that Rose was married 2 Judy Garland and Martha Raye.

  • @man975dog - Didn't know that! He picked two troubled women, indeed - but Garland was good looking, and Raye had a hot body. And both were extremely talented. Thanks for the info. Take care!

  • A shame Sharona never played this one for Monk and did a bump dance when he was in one of his pity moods. It would have helped him a whole lot. He might have got to twirling his fruityloomies over his head.

  • Bettie Page? Really?!

  • Wasn't this in the movie "Gypsy Rose Lee" with Natalie Wood ? Or am I mistaken ?

  • This music and retro, pin up era inspires me so much ;-))

  • Can someone help me find the song "Our Theme" by David Rose? The only thing I can find is a small part of it embedded in a meadley by Henry Mancini when he did a 10 minute song of Roses' Hollywood themes etc. I am pretty sure that it's name is "Our Theme". It was the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Thanks ahead of time!

  • ooo, here we go, the fems are here, why don't you go and get f**ked by a guy with a 9' c**k and be done with it, you left wing fanny lickers.!!

  • I would like this score in Bb for the clarent, if any knows where i can get it , please let me know...thanks

  • Yes, the song became a number 1 hit in 1962. The reason people remember it in the 1970's was because it was used both as the background music for the Noxema shaving cream commercial, and at the end of "Slap Shot" when the player started stripping on the ice.

  • i have a boner...

  • @oOOpIIIqOOo IDK why but the song is very sexy so I guess you're imagening some chick dancing to this. lol

  • @oOOpIIIqOOo GOOD for you. Go for it!

  • 1:40 :)

  • Nice video but...this famous music from David Rose wasn't 1957, but 1962 instead. so SuperXavier 30, i think u have ur information on this "Stripper" music wrong. Yes, "The Stripper" music from David Rose was 1962.

  • @man975dog,.On the contrary my Friend, David Rose actually wrote this gem in the year of 1957, although it wasn’t released as an A-side single until the year of 1962.

    Cheers!

  • @SuperXavier30 well yes. I guess David Rose started writing it and composing it in 1957. but the final composition 4 "The Stripper" music wasn't completed and released until 1962-funny though because I didn't hear the music until 1976! I thought it was something new in 1976 when I heard it on the radio, and then I heard it again on TV the following year. "The Stripper" music seemed 2 b more famous in the '70's than it was in the '60's. It was recorded and released in Hollywood in 1962.

  • @man975dog,.Yes it was the 70’s when I first recall hearing this music and somehow its association. It’s one of those rare songs that will past from one generation to the next and somehow conjures up a very similar image decade after decade.

    Cheers!

  • @SuperXavier30 U know something? I do remember hearing another version of Rose's "Stripper" music here on YouTube and it came from an album known as "Impact101" or something like this. It sounded like an earlier version of this music. Something like from the 1950's. So it looks like u might b right about 1957. However, the version that we r all familiar with here was from 1962. There were many great hits from David Rose. Do u know them?

  • @SuperXavier30 "Tuesday Afternoon" recorded in 1967, popular in 1972.

  • @man975dog yep i agree it was 1962

  • Ahhhh...Betty Page. Nudity with class!

  • @thespotteddog,.Absolutely!

  • @thespotteddog

i think the late great Betty Page became so popular because she so obviously LOVED what she was doing! She had a beautiful body & didn't mind exhibiting it for others to enjoy. With class & taste, of course! Thanks for your insightful comment! :-)

  • @thespotteddog cough-cough-cough ah-hem, well.....

  • i bet it would be fun to go to a Burlesque

  • @curvy71,..It really is true what they say: “You only live once”! Go get some!

  • @SuperXavier30 the only problem here is i live in a small town in the middle of nowhere.

  • They should play this in changing rooms :L ;)

  • @MarieValentina,.What a great idea!

Of course you could always get heads turning if you carry your own recording and play it out loud in the changing room!.Cheers!

  • To me, this is the perfect strip club track. and the tune went further and was popularized by Noxema. copy and paste the following title into the search bar.

Noxema Take It Off TV Commercial

  • @kibibbles look carefully. shes on her knee with the left leg

  • He left leg is on the stool behind her other leg, it's just in a position where it's somewhat hidden

  • @curvy71,..or perhaps Paris! (little closer for me)

  • @SuperXavier30 i would say your right

  • Good video and fabulous song, but the picture at the end spoils it. There are few things in life I will say this about, but stripping/burlesque is one of them; if you're overweight at all, you really shouldn't be doing it. Please, please, just no.

  • @rah243,..Just say yes my friend!. There’s plenty room for the more Voluptuous and Bodacious curvier body shapes in Burlesque!

  • haha they started brainwashing you americans with sex already in the 60s ? devils nation you will go down in history books like the rest of the devils did

  • @TubeYou380,.Americans?!!

  • @SuperXavier30 if I ever get married i'm slipping the band 100 bucks to play this instead of here comes the bride that would be epic

  • This tune is perfect for what it portrays- wild and sassy!

  • Billboard's 112th #1 song of the rock era. David hit #1 in Billboard, 7-7-62. God bless! RIP, David.

  • @DaveWollenberg,..Appreciate the stats!

  • @SuperXavier30 You're welcome, Xavier. Hope ya don't mind, but, God bless!

  • I used this song on my 1911 video wow what a classic song.

  • I think burlesque and Porn are two different things, porn is super tacky and burleasque is classy so ... there two different genres together, But thats my opinion

  • @RainbowsareTrashy..Couldn’t agree more!..Cheers!

  • @SuperXavier30 Who the hell doesn't love this song? :D

  • @brandonhud60,.psst!...alliecat 1941.

  • @alliecat1941,..With respect I’d first like to advise you against gambling as it’s clearly not your forte. Secondly I’d like to remind you that "Porn" is also produced and consumed by the Female species. Although it’s a male dominated industry, females are capitalizing in it with companies tailored to the needs and desires of women!

  • @SuperXavier30 and with no porn there would be no internet, true story.

  • @Ballooner360 ,..don't worry, it’s fine to have this infectious tune in your head,..Just be sure to control the images it may conjure up!..lol!

  • Makes me wanna take something off!! :-)

  • @iris55adr,Girl feel free!. You only live once!..but be sure to leave the curtains open..lol!!!

  • Thanks for this. Took me back to the days when women looked like women. Not like 10yr. old boys.

  • That was so cool. Took me back to the days when women looked like women. Not like a skinny 10yr. old boys.

  • @Chuck41148,I know exactly where your coming from!. Lets say “no” to size zero!!!

  • @rickw1100 ,You're so right, whatever happed to sexual innuendo?

  • this music was also featured in Tv ads... IF I remember right, it was Edie Adams promoting a razor, or shaving cream... the tag line was, "Take it off... take it all, off."

  • @louswire, Thanks for the introduction to the late Edie Adams!

  • @louswire Oh yes, Noxema, I believe ! Love this tune.Just hearing it reminds me of the 60s.
