  • Rick, I love the sound and tone you are gettiing.

What type of instrument and how old if I can ask?

    Best,

    dave

  • Hi Dave,

Thanks for your kind words. This is my main mandolin and it is a Gibson Nouveau that was Japanese made around 1984.

  • Hey Rick, that's interesting. I was not even aware that there are Japanese made Gibsons. I have worked through most of your mandolin book and it's been a godsend! Has def elevated my playing. I'm on a nice A syle f hole Breedlove but am seriously thinking of an Fstyle upgrade....so many choices and not so easy to find good instruments to try.

    Best,

    David

  • Me Five...

  • this Monroe tune is sweet, its good finger and timing practice for less experienced players. If you listen to Bill Monroe play it at speed its awesome, but just to let ya know that those fast bluegrass tunes are basically the same so just try to slow things down so you can get better and then speed it up and AMAZE your friends

  • yeah, you should just tune your mandolin with a tuner, it probably is tuned down a step or half step, its not uncommon, but yeah this is GDAE

  • this for this video and the tab

  • At least I'm not the only one planting my right finger(s)

  • Me, too. ;)

  • Me three...

  • Me four...
