shizuru's english voice seem that she's going to sleep in the beginning. it's like the sound of the voice does not match her feelings,but here in philippines we have very good dubbers too. and the filipino dubber of shizuru is just like the japanese except her kyoto ben accent.

I think Shizuru's accent compliments the class of her character. They could have done a british one as well I suppose, but those tend to sound cheesy in anime. Case and point; Luna from Sailor Moon.

Shizurus "country" accent is most likely a tip of the hat to the Old South. During that time period the accent that we call "country" today was the accent of the rich and powerful in the Old South. They probably view Shizuru as a southern belle. We would call southern belles debutantes today.

Well, if you wanna know in the Japanese version Shizuru accent is from Kyoto and it differed seriously from the other character. In the English version they tried to have the same way of thinking. They just forget a little detail there: the Kyoto accent of Shizuru was supposed to make her look higher (or snob-er if you want) which didnt seem to be the exact feeling as in this version (but I couldnt be sure, personally, I dont make the difference in the English version).
