Harry didn't die with this...Harry died doing by getting hit in stomach by some burly guy...he was doing an "illusion" saying his abs were hardest in world and would allow people to hit him...right before burly guy hit him Harry got distracted and relaxed his abs allowing for a full on rupturing blow to the stomach

Good trick, but as mentioned below, Houdini had a standing wager that he could withstand anyone's punch in the stomach, where he would stand and be given a blow to the midsection by the bet taker. One person didn't understand this part of the bet, came up, punched Houdini and ruptured and internal organ, which caused irreparable internal bleeding.

Cheers! The camera I think was Andrew O Conner's idea and it worked well except the holding a live camera whilst drenched in water issue!

The rupture was believed to be caused by multiple punches to the abdomen after a college student inquired if Houdini could withstand a punch. Houdini replied in the affirmative whereupon the student attacked him with a flurry of punches.

how could he have possibly had enough time to unlock the cuffs he was in, break the chains attached to the cuffs, and somehow pick the lock that's on the outside of the water tank from inside, and then switch with the camera man so quickly, while his assistants clearly aren't helping him? of course this is magic. anyone who doesn't believe doesn't know a good magic trick when they see one. Perhaps there was a trap door on the floor below the tank, but it was too quick to support that claim.

Harry Houdini died of peritonitis secondary to a ruptured appendix. It has been speculated that Houdini was killed accidentally by a McGill University student, J. Gordon Whitehead, who delivered multiple blows to Houdini's abdomen (with permission) while he was in Montreal. These repetitive blows are thought to have been a stunt, in which Houdini displayed his dexterity.
