A pretty reasonable list I must say, although there would be plenty more from Stupid Dream such as 'Stranger by The Minute' and 'Don't Hate Me' on my list. Really pleased to see songs like 'A Smart Kid' and 'The Start of Something Beautiful' near the top as well :)

Totally agree with #1, Anesthetize is superb.

Also among my favorites are:

Start of Something Beautiful, Deadwing, DarkMatter, Sound of Muzak, The Sky Moves Sideways (pt. I & II) and the rest of the brilliant songs they've written.

While I'm writting, it's easy to understand why it became a top 50, because if you start making a list like this, you'll never stop until every song of PT is in it.

Thanks Saket, but with the Incident, you are going to have to make the top 60! Even though I do not agree with you 100%, (it is better that way), I have to thank you and again for the time and effort to make this wonderful compilation. Like the Genesis of the early 90's, Porcupine Tree, I am afraid, will be fully recognized at about ten years from now, then they will fill the Wimbley Stadium to the top, you'll see. They are probably the best band out there, right now, but nobody notices. Thanks.

I have a question for you, have you heard Anesthetize live? It is insane, along with a ton of others, but that one sticks in my head as beyond amazing! I remember the first time i listened to heart attack in a lay by, omfg i was at the edge of my seat screaming " OMFGGG IS HE OK!!??! ", okay now tell me another band that has made you feel so much in only one of their songs. pretty good list though, i think some stuff shouldve been higher and no way is anesthitize number 1, ( i would say arriving, halo, sleep together, sentimental and i got loads more lol, just not anesthitize).

Although I would've ranked some of the songs differently, there isn't a bad song here.. just like in the PT catalog. I don't recall seeing any Voyage 34 though. Glad that A Smart Kid was so high. Great choices in which parts to play. Hard to choose those with some of the longer songs (Sky Moves Sideways, Russia on Ice, etc.).

I have yet to listen to Anesthetize all the way through (I can't find the full studio version on YT =S) but need to get round to it after all the praise I've heard...

For me, #1 is She's Moved On (Mainly for the solo) but Arriving Somewhere...., The Sound of Muzak, Radioactive Toy and The Creator has a Mastertape are all strong contenders.

I agree with a good portion of this list, but I think "Stop Swimming," "Sleep of No Dreaming" and "Disappear" should have made the top 50. Three of those In Absentia songs could easily come off the list.

Some opinions:

1. Where the fuck is Stop Swimming? And Pure Narcotic?

2. Glass Arm Shattering is a top 10 at least.

3. You should have used the remastered versions.

4. Collapse The Light Into Earth and Lips Of Ashes are far better than Heartattack.

5. Halo>Open Car

6.Where We Would Be>The Rest Will Flow

7. Where the fuck is STOP SWIMMING???

it's a masterpiece, yes. but #1...not for me. Trains will always have the most meaning for me.

I would've replaced Burning Sky with Stars Die, but kept Burning Sky in the top 10.
