Its incredible to think the statistics of Krakatau, the loudest noise in recorded history that was heard in australia over 3000 miles away makes you think of those who lived within 30-40 miles radius. and of course in the space of 48 hours 12 sq miles of solid rock just disintegrated mostly in the atmosphere. This cannot be Krakatau (the preferred spelling by scientists) -- Krakatau is an archipelago consisting of 4 islands: Rakata (the remains of the 1883 eruption), Panjang and Sertung (remnants of an older caldera), and Anak Krakatau (son of Krakatau, over the vent known as Danan before the 1883 eruption). BTW, Krakatau is WEST of Java, not East. Wasn't that movie made by the same folks who made the one about a lava flow burying Pasadena?
