  • @Bassisbest55 I can't do that! :O I'll end up keeping all the babies and become the crazy bunny lady :P

  • I don't understand why to keep female urine separate from male urine?

  • @CimaraNyx She not separating it , there are just two containers that are easy to use. Do u think the woman could use that small topped container?

  • @mark70smith yeah, I figured that out right after I wrote that...LOL!

  • I relate to both the mention of "babies" as well as vacuum cleaner bag refuse (as well as dryer lint?). As agonizing as this allusion is to me, I do believe that non-factory farm-raised animals are a vastly preferable choice. I also appreciate the mention of sending a message to our 'system' that stipulates the use of (essentially) drinking water for human waste. We no longer have the luxury of any excuse that refutes/counters this choice. Thank you for many inspiring ideas.

  • if i tried to introduce that into my bathroom my better half would go mental!! great video though...fantastic what she s done with the space she has. really fantastic

  • She's is doing the right things except I have 2 concerns:

    1) Vacuum cleaner stuff in the compost - some of the stuff will likely have toxic residues. I would not do it.

    2) A minor suggestion - I don't like plastic covers on compost unless the plastic is at least food grade. I am concerned about leaching toxins from the plastic.

  • 3 sun cycles to really get the soil going (but lots of food before that still) - well here on my urban beachside sandhill in south australia anyway (or maybe thats 3 humanure compost cycles : ) ) thanks for making and sharing this. It's heartening to see others doing the same "crazy" stuff we are

  • I love how mice are also seen as positive additions to the cycle. Compost aerators! I love it!

  • BEAUTIFUL

  • did she said the eating their pet's babies as a joke o really?

  • Is that a gigantic, bolted rainbow chard @0:50?

Pawpaws @1:22 -- BTW, persimmons are another native North American fruit tree, as well as serviceberry (aka juneberry, saskatoon, Amelanchier).

    Very nice!

  • this is awesome. the urinating in the bucket especially.

  • Way to go Connie. Thanks for inspiring others about closing the nutrient cycle!

  • I was with her until humanure. I can buy that she knows what she is doing with it, but most people would not. I don't think we want people messing with their waste--it can cause serious diseases and problems, especially in a city.

  • i dig what she said at the end, about keeping your poop at your place!

  • @klonekollector but carrots and other plants scream when you kill or tear them appart. they have been doing a studdy on it.

  • You are so right about humanure composting.. nutrient recycling on site, holding the nutrients there just like a natural forest ecosystem would do it. The meat rabbits are a great idea, an often overlooked alternative to chickens.

  • Great video! What an incredible homestead. Truly inspirational! Connie really opens your eyes to the possibilities even in an urban environment.

  • Yes, I agree an important political statement, and one more step away from a system that wants to wetnurse us with it's centralised means of control. Time to manage our own shit! The quiet revolution!

  • whoa! look at the mushrooms growing in that wood chip mulch. yeah, that's excellent.

  • There's tons of info on the dangers of a vegetarian diet. Check out Your Own Health And Fitness on kpfadotorg and the UndergroundWellness radio show for starters. Industrial meat is tortuous and destroys the environment.

  • I understand the importance of humanure but am reluctant to break the law here...

  • "i dont eat my pets; i only eat their babies."

i dont know whether to laugh or cry

great vid, thanks for sharing the abundance of permaculture

  • this is cool!! almost everything in the house and no need to go to the market more often, plus youre eating a non toxic vegies!!!,, im a supporter of these kind of thinking!! good job mam!!!

  • Great video--she said that she grows 60%-70% of her food needs from this land...Connie is that right? Is this a full time endevor?

  • Beautiful urban food forest!!!

  • Great video.

How long does it take to grow such garden ?

  • Connie has been there for many years, but you can grow a great garden in a year, or even a few months--the trees and perennials take longer to be established but the annuals will do just fine very quickly.
