The Russian team was not playing together and even if everybody saw early in the game that the really long pass was not working they kept doing it and doing turnovers. Canada played a lot better in that game, Nabokov was really bad but the team itself really did'nt play good either. They were playing individual hockey.
The argument of the ice rink is not really a good one, most of Russian stars are playing in NHL on that type of ice.

You know why Canada didn't win against the Russians/soviets in the past? That's right...because all our best players were in the NHL, therefore deemed professional and ineligible for the Olympic. Now that the playing field has been leveled Canada has done quite well. I made the negative comment in response to Russian newspapers complaining that the Vancouver games were horrible, unfair, etc, etc...plain and simple the Russian Olympians were terrible..blame yourselves not Canada.

Actually the Russians didn't really start sending the hockey players to the NHL until the early 90's...Previous to that Canada sent out their best non-professional players..the other countries were sending the best overall players. And as I said before...the Russians this year played with no heart. The rest of the world has heard about the Russians and all their complaints this year in regards to the Olympics..Maybe next time they should get together with the French judges again.

Kovalev hasnt done much in the regular season with Ottawa to warrant a spot. I dont mind if he doesnt score on even strength, but if he had more power play goals then yea. Pair him up with Fedorov. He should be the 'pistol', just in case you need it, its there. As good as he is, that is the reality for the Canadian and Russian hockey teams, the talent is so high, everyone wants to be part of the team. The Russian offensive lines gots the power of an AK47.
