  • DEFINITELY NOT LADY FINGERS.

  • @hackalabac Thanks for that, what ever they are, their nice. Everyone around here calls this variety "lady fingers". Just thinking back, we had a visit from the DPI. He told us they were lady fingers. Anyway it doesn't matter. This is MY method of harvesting bananas in my back yard.

  • @mugsyjeff the lady fingers as the name implied, it only as big as you thumb/ or fingers. The lady fingers are very tasty, delicious, and very fragrant. it has a chewiness factor in them unlike the crispy chiquitas. nice big garden you have there :)

  • @hackalabac IC, thanks for that, the lady finger bananas over here aren't like that. Actually a lot of the LF bananas over here in the fruit shops are larger than mine. So your LFs Are different to our LFs. I'm just having some now with some yogurt & crystallized galangal & galangal syrup for desert, it's yummy. Anyway I'll catch ya later. bye for now.

  • @hackalabac I just changed the title.

  • Did you say paw paws? We have a fruit tree called paw paw here in the south eastern US. Sweet, creamy, and delicious! What are yours like? I searched your video because I have a fruiting banana tree now. How do you know when to harvest the bananas? As soon as the fruit forms?

  • @caveatemp Hi there,i'm not sure if it's the same fruit, the fruit I have is better known around the world as papaya.I'm getting a bit lazy these days,i'm not breaking the flower off after the bananas set & i'm finding that by the time the flower reaches the end,it's about time to harvest the bananas but normally i wait till the bananas become rounded & the ridges start to disappear, plus they start to go to a lighter green, you can even wait till the just start to yellow, depends what pests youhave

  • as a banana grower myself i must tell you your ladyfinger bananas are of poor quality, go to the queensland DPI website and get the info sheet on how to grow bananas in the sub-tropics so you can manage them better and get bigger bunches.

  • @Atomicomet Thank you for that. I realise my bananas could be better if i devote more time to them. I was mainly demonstrating my method of harvesting. We get a pretty good feed off them as it is. We're probably getting more frequent small bunches rather than less frequent large bunches. Thanks again, cheers

  • Good info thank you, My wife and i are looking into growing some banana trees and are just getting information on them at this point. Thanks again,Robert

  • @Hollrobb Thanks for that robb, I hope it goes well for you. We've been growing them here for over 20 years. There quite rewarding. We find they freeze well, you might have noticed my other videos including "banana & black cherry muffins". anyway thanks again robb. I hope to hear from you again. cheers for now.
