  • Beautiful. One of my favorite songs and you really bring it to life with your expressions. BTW, for a split second I thought it was Andy Warhol playing.

  • @theimperialwarcult Thanks, yes, 'Andy' is my middle name lol!

  • Awesome Cover Man! You can really tell you put your soul into it! I have a request, can you cover "and it stoned me" Love that song and i think with your originality you could make it something special!!

  • @tdaddabbo Thanks very much. I'll have to try 'and it stoned me'. I've always loved Astral Weeks, the Moondance album and Saint Dominic's Preview. Van is a big, big challenge. No promises!

    All the best

    John

  • What tuning are you doing this in?

  • @whistlerboots123 It's in Open D.

  • Very nice right hand dynamics and left had work, and the emotion expresses your belief and love of the song... very, very nice.

  • wow sounds amazing, thanks for posting, love your version of the song

  • @greeneyedgnome Cheers :o)

  • I love your interpertation of this song, I like when people cover a song and put themselves into it.

  • @jhump2431 Thanks very much :o)

  • Dude! I have been listening to alot of people attempting this song and I MUST SAY, I ENJOYED THE WAY YOU HAVE DONE IT AND THE WAY YOU HAVE PUT YOUR HEART SOUL AND STYLE INTO IT . If anyone says negative it means that htey either CANNOT sing or envy your style. It sounds great and keep it up. Maybe you should do another one ! Peace!

  • @MrDavidtravis1 Thanks very much :o)

  • @LiteGauge Anytime dude. Please support a young friend of mine on u tube. Dukes of gravity / Aaron Norcross Jr. and give him all the support he needs. He is 12 years old and a bundle of talent. If you like, spread the word and leave him a comment to let him know that zilgin, David from New york asked you too. Thanks and keep it alive.

  • @LiteGauge Also, I actually wanted to ask you to do Van's song, "these are the days". Let me know when you do, or email me at zilginlivelife@yahoo.com to let me know you did.

  • @MrDavidtravis1 Wow, what a song - I've just listened to it for the first time and it's magnificent! Thanks very much for pointing it out to me. I'll definitely have a go and see what I can make of it.

    best regards

    John

  • May I ask if you are in standard tuning.. The sound is fantastic.. The vocals are excellent.

  • Very nice try but neds a lot of work. Sub par vocals I'm afraid.

  • @tresjbenet That'll do for me :o) No great pretensions of being a great singer. Great song by a great singer and I enjoy playing it.

  • @tresjbenet pulease,,,this is a good rendition, enough said, i don't think anyone needs to be compared to Van.

  • @scottay69 Really?? Scott Ay "69" classy dude.

  • @tresjbenet Actually I disagree. The artist added his own flair to the song which added character. I mean jesus christ, someone who has the Veroincas as their channel video has NO business critiquing a classic like this. So fuck off and go listen to your girl band pop, fag.

  • @atomicfriendo You starting out sounding like an adult, then ended up revealing your vile self loathing with grade school expletives. Obviously you hate gay people AND fornication. Interesting combo :)

  • @tresjbenet so, then, you liked what I had to say? :)-~

  • Brilliant performance. So authentic. Wonderful. I just love music.

  • @WohnerontheRadio Thanks very much :o)

  • Nice!

  • @2Touchstone Cheers :o)

  • Mesmerizing, in a way.

  • @rvcrvc2 Cheers, I was slightly mesmerized while I was singing ;o)

  • Pure Masterclass on a beloved track of mine and many of your covers. Thanks once again for a Brilliant rendition. 10/10

  • Thanks very much, Jason :o)

  • Excellent job little dude!

  • Cheers :-)

  • Wow! How awesome was that?

Very nice job. In he interest of real critiques, the outro was the part that showcased what a smart and appropriate decision it was to play this song in open tuning. It makes you a one man band. I love open tunings!

Fyi- I know you played capoed up for your voice, but imho, I think an outstanding redion of a song such as yours is best un-capoed. But I have no cred. You know what you are doing and my videos only showcase my shortcomings. That was great!

  • Thanks very much. Playing in open tunings allows you to keep a nice full sound and add some of the signature riffs without too much difficulty.

  • THis has always been one of my favorite songs..nice job.

  • Great vocals, good job. I enjoyed it.

  • Thanks very much :o)

  • wow!

very nice. I loved it. open D tuning?

i'm gonna try to copy you here.

    thanks for a great cover.

  • Thanks! Yes, open D :o)

  • for those who think covers shouldn't be different from originals - if they were the same they'd be replicas not covers - I'm sure Van would like this - he doesn't do his songs the same everytime - he's a master of improvisation-nice touch man 1

  • Thanks very much.

  • wonderful guitar, why change the timing? aint your song . sing it as van wrote it. I mean no offence.

  • Hi there - what tuning are you using on this one? You recently helped me with "Too Many Angels" and I'm very grateful for that help. I perform it routinely at open mics.

  • I'm using a straight Open D tuning - just raise the F a half-step after the angels ;)

  • great cover brother, i got chills to.

  • Thanks very much :)

  • Very nice strings brother.. I cannot play but this is one of the songs that makes me want to. I wish I could play this song for my wife, it is her favorite song. Well done.

  • Thanks :)

  • This actually gave me chills this is amazing

  • Thanks :)

  • This is a beautiful rendition. :)

  • Thanks very much :)

  • best cover of this song ive heard yet anybody ever tell you you look like andy warhol?

  • Thanks, yes I've frequently been called 'Andy' by work mates :)

  • I even prefer open tunings and your one in this song is simply lovely: go ahed...

  • Thanks very much. I like open tunings because I play alone and I can at least add a few more elements to a tune that way. Some people say it's cheating but ...

    all good things

    John

  • Nice! Keep it up.

  • Thanks very much :)

  • good job! great tune! :o)

  • Thanks very much, Kerry :o)

  • My favorite Van tune! I guess we like the same music, eh? This is a classic and you do a great job here!

    Amy

  • Thanks, Amy

  • i love your music dude you rock

  • Thanks very much :)

  • Listening to your music is probably my second favorite way to spend 7:49

    Best regards,

    Francis J. O'Reilly from NY

  • Thank you very much, Francis. Van Morrison is immense. It was a great moment for me recording this - I was on auto-pilot for most of it - my neuron just lurking in the background to watch over things.

    best regards

    John

  • once again excellent cover...you must have a bigger repetoir than me...and ive got 2000 songs in mine...love it

  • Thanks very much :) 2000, that's really impressive!

  • Wow John! Classic Van Morrison - BRAVO! Beautiful and your new guitar sounds fantastic. She's so bright and crisp with an open tuning. All the stars to you my friend!

    cheers,

    julie

PS: Nice to finally see YOU

  • Thanks very much, Julie. The idea of playing it like this came from stevertr - thanks Steve. I had great fun with this. I've always loved the song. Glad you like my new companion!

    Cheers

    John
