i don't have this sheet music, i'm curious though if you've seen other versions? I've watched a few videos on youtube, and it seems that many people are using strange right hand fingering choices, but yours appear sensible. Are the fingerings notated or is it that there's a bad version out there with weird right hand notations that other folks may be following?
Those that are waltzes do because, well, they are waltzes... He has written other music as well, for example try listening to Seis pro Derecho and the whole Suite Venezolano among others. Masterpieces. :)
My teacher gave me the sheet music today... doesn't seem to hard. The whole song is in 1st position for the most part.... good song for beginner to intermediate guitar levels. I'll post a video response once I get the recording materials and have the song down.... Happy playing!
Bravo, Per-Olov! What a beautiful rendition of this wonderful piece by Lauro.
I marvel at your excellent right hand technique and I would like to ask you a question.
I have a problem with my right hand. I am unable to alternate my index and middle fingers (I-M) without my index finger jumping uncontrollably. I use my middle and ring fingers (M-A) all of the time.
I know a something about guitar, and I got to say, that problem is very unique. Usually people tend to have problems with alterenating M-A, and therefore they use I-M all the time. I just suggest constant practice in playing the right way, it helped me perfect my right hand.
Man, you're the shit. I just heard this song for the first time 2 minutes ago, and I thought, "I should tell that Adante fella to do this song, I bet it'd be great". I clicked another video to see another performance, and who is it? IT'S YOU!!! You're awesome!!!
I have started with this piece. I have just reached the second section. It is pleasure to see and learn from you. By the way, does using the capo makes the piece more easier to play? Thanks for the video!
I think you can play it a bit slower than I do. I have learned later that a Venezuelan Waltz is not this fast. Yes, the capo makes it a little bit easier. but try without first...
woww!! You play that so sweetly. I have listen to the other guitar pieces which you have on Youtube and i must say that i am equally impressed with those too!
I once heard a friend of mine playing the same song in front of Rodrigo, and Rodrigo said to him: Stop playing...Sing it first, to your son, sing it to the trees, and once you feel it, then play it on the guitar, same thing happens with one of Rodrigo's most beatiful composition, Preludio Criollo, many tend to play it so fast, oposite to Rodrigo who sang it but with his guitar, you have a marvelous talent, great sound, so sing it my friend...
Hi Peo...how are you? A humble opinion from a Venezuelan musician, btw I heard your interpretation of Nostalgia by Rodrigo, or "El chueco" that was his nickname among his friends, I had the priviledge of living close to him so I met him, I know his son Ruben and I heard him so many times playing and talking about music...This piece that you play, if I could make any comments, it's like a lullaby, very sweet, you could include breaking the linear tempo with some ritardandos here and there :)
Mr. Peo, my most honest repects, you´re "a Crack" it´s hard to find people who plays latin american music and you had played it, and perfect (just a bit fast.. :P) i´m proud of hear this from Denmark, great to hear you play Lauro´s Vals. Thanks for bring me too much remembers from my loved land. You should play here in Tenerife, we are too much venezuelan people. Hehehe Best Regards from a venezuelan in Spain.
Hola! Como estás? I love Lauro and almost all Venezuelan music. And I am in love with a Venezuelan woman so I kind of "have to play it well" :-) And alfonso Montes is one of my friends. His father was the neigbour to Antonio Lauro! Tenerife sounds great!
I love this piece, but the capo throws me off a little bit, not that i dont like it, I think it sounds awesome. Then again, sometimes I play bouree with a capo on the 2nd fret. Anywho, awesome performance!
Igual, gran talento, soy del zulia. wow beautiful, actually I am Venezuelan, I have this music in my blood, is part of my culture, there is not much time i've been playing this song, and hear this, it's really inspiring and helps me a lot to improve
Beautiful! Great technique! Why are you playing it was a capo though? Other than that, great! I play it a bit slower for my taste but you do great with it!

Interesting point about it being lighter..I heard Marcello Kayath playing El Negrito and he played it slow, more romantic, that works just as well too, I like music with plenty of scope to interpret.
Thanks. Well, I did. I am bad at remembering pieces by heart but I have a talent for reading music. I don't know wish is best... :-) My Snooker sucks... but don't tell any one... and certanly not Mark! Schhhyyy...

Too late Peo, you're secret is out! I've just raised the stakes! If only I could still play myself..Oops, now MY secret is out! Perhaps we'd better forget about a wager and play for fun!
Hellou Per,if I were Antonio Lauro which I hope is in heaven I,ll feel very happy in the way you perform my music..you makeme feel heaven on the earth...thank you.....
Thank you. Actually his daughter Natalia commented on my "Natalia" and told me I played exactly the way her father Antonio Lauro would have liked it. That is a great honor. And I am happy for your word too! :-)
You are one of the few great guitarists in the world, wonderful rendering, there is a venezuelan virtuoso that plays Lauro the best his name is David de Los Reyes, have you heard of him.?
Thank you. I am happy to hear that. Did you see Natalia herself commented on my "Natalia" Waltz? I am very honored. No I haven't heard of him. I will make a search now!
I remember commenting but I can't find my comment. Peo this is great! I like playing it more slowly though but it sounds great anyway! I also think it sounds better with a capo :)
it´s funny, you inspired me to play my classical guitar and practicing again, too. Thanks, Peo. You are an outstanding artist. I love Lauro´s music. Please, would you be so kind to post the wonderful "La gatica" ? I´m waiting.....
I am happy to be inspiering you. It's the best comment I can get!
I am recording a CD right now and I don't have the time right now. But thanks for the suggestion! i love Lauso's music too! And my girlfriend is Venezuelan.
youre a real artist, thanks for the beautiful performance. seeing this and the other lauro piece has inspired me to return to playing more on my classical guitar. i m curious to know how youre holding the guitar in place as i can see no footstool or support under the guitar itself?? thanks again
I can translate that for you... It says... "Hey, you are the master of masters, excellent performance and domain. Can you record a video of this song using G without the capo? Thank you so much."
Chevere !
Gracias Peo !
Let me ask you, Mr. Kindgren, is one supposed to find a guitar placement position that is most comfortable for the player? The classical guitar books I recently acquired state that the left leg MUST be supported by a footstool, but your playing is fantastic and you have a slightly different guitar placement position. Wonderful song, by the way.
Thanks! The thing is to get the guitar in a raised position. If you use a footstool or my GITANO dosen't matter... You can not really see it on this video. try an other one.
By the way.. I viseted someone who I used to play guitar with. He gave me 2 walzes. One of them turned out to be this one abd he saw you on YouTube too without me telling him. Your populairity is HUGE!
Anyway.. I'm studying this great piece now and will put it on Da Tube later!
you are AMAZING I wish I could play like you- I am playing this for my grade 5 exam in June!

Very nice! It is among my favourite tunes. Pity its just a miniature! LOL. Thanks for playing.
I see that you are using a capo. Does it make fingering easier compared to the non capo version?
jbdoggy 4 years ago
Thanks. I like this too! Too short though...
I used a capo to make it sound brighter. the fingering is the same really...

You are one of the few great guitarists in the world, wonderful rendering, there is a venezuelan virtuoso that plays Lauro the best his name is David de Los Reyes, have you heard of him.?
triwillie5 4 years ago
Thank you. I am happy to hear that. Did you see Natalia herself commented on my "Natalia" Waltz? I am very honored. No I haven't heard of him. I will make a search now!
Thanks a lot!

I remember commenting but I can't find my comment. Peo this is great! I like playing it more slowly though but it sounds great anyway! I also think it sounds better with a capo :)
Liranm89 4 years ago
Dear Liran! So now you are 18! Congrats! LOL
You are too kind. Yes, it can (or should) be played slower. I think John Williams plays this fast...
Keep playing!

it´s funny, you inspired me to play my classical guitar and practicing again, too. Thanks, Peo. You are an outstanding artist. I love Lauro´s music. Please, would you be so kind to post the wonderful "La gatica" ? I´m waiting.....
Best wishes,

youre a real artist, thanks for the beautiful performance. seeing this and the other lauro piece has inspired me to return to playing more on my classical guitar. i m curious to know how youre holding the guitar in place as i can see no footstool or support under the guitar itself?? thanks again

I can translate that for you... It says... "Hey, you are the master of masters, excellent performance and domain. Can you record a video of this song using G without the capo? Thank you so much."
cheapseeker 4 years ago
Chevere ! Gracias !

Let me ask you, Mr. Kindgren, is one supposed to find a guitar placement position that is most comfortable for the player? The classical guitar books I recently acquired state that the left leg MUST be supported by a footstool, but your playing is fantastic and you have a slightly different guitar placement position. Wonderful song, by the way.
ssiero1 4 years ago
Thanks! The thing is to get the guitar in a raised position. If you use a footstool or my GITANO dosen't matter... You can not really see it on this video. try an other one.

Haha 'All lefts reversed'!
