  • you are AMAZING I wish I could play like you- I am playing this for my grade 5 exam in June!

  • It amazes me how something that sounds so beautiful uses just four frets on the guitar. Bravo Sir, many thanks for this beautiful performance. I love the way your fingers dance to this tune.

  • Omg!:')

    This is so beautiful...

    It makes me wanna cry...:'\

  • Great!

  • wow sounds amazing really inspired me to learn this thank you :)

  • Bravo. Muy bonito

  • Always great to hear you . Thank you ;)

  • Fantastic PLaying, greetins from Perú

  • i wish u could sign my guitar and play it. :D

  • you are playing well

  • So Beautiful Peo !

  • Merci beaucoup, mon cher amis.

    Per-Olov

  • i'm from venezuela, this is a masterpiece, long live A. Lauro

  • bon tempo

  • TENGO QUE ADMITIR QUE SIEMPRE QUEDO PASMADO Y ABSORTO ANTE LA FLUIDEZ Y MAESTRÍA CON LA QUE LAURO SIEMPRE EJECUTO SUS PIEZAS

  • why the capo???

  • hi per

i've been playing this without a capo (thats how it says on my sheet music) and considerably slower. is it supposed to be played that quickly?

  • nice interpretation!!...As always!!

  • i don't have this sheet music, i'm curious though if you've seen other versions? I've watched a few videos on youtube, and it seems that many people are using strange right hand fingering choices, but yours appear sensible. Are the fingerings notated or is it that there's a bad version out there with weird right hand notations that other folks may be following?

  • awesome

  • you always make me feel like im just playing the notes, whereas you are playing the music...but its inspiring!

  • nice sound bravo

Tusen takk for alle vakre videoar!

    Helsing Harry

  • this is so good. it soothes the soul.

  • Hi Per Olov,

i'm writing you to ask the version you play (my version is very bed).

Waiting for your answer, I make my best congatulations to you.

    Bye Bye :)

  • Hi Alessandro,

I use A. Lauro's own handwriting. It is the original manuscript. It is exactly as the Alirio Diaz publication. So try to buy that.

    Good luck!

    per-Olov

  • @AlessandroS92 hi I don´t know if you are interested but i have a lot of Lauro´s work so, if you want i can send it by email.

  • Nice, NOT i can play this in my fkin sleep! :D

  • Nice, NOT i can play this in my fkin sleep! :D

  • Is it my imagination or almost all the music from Antonio Lauro has similar structure?

  • @lmdbluis

Those that are waltzes do because, well, they are waltzes... He has written other music as well, for example try listening to Seis pro Derecho and the whole Suite Venezolano among others. Masterpieces. :)

  • @Poisonseed wow, seis por derecho left me speechless!!

  • @lmdbluis

That was my first reaction as well... Seems you can appreciate good music bro! Thumbs up!

(Just noticed my typo, it's "Seis Por Derecho")

  • Hej Peo

    Hans Klint

  • Hej Hans,

Tak skal du have!

    Hilsen,

    Per-Olov

  • this ia wonderful! nice to hear it sound happy, but i have to say, i prefer being able to put the melencholy behind it. :)

  • Hi, you got some tabs please? ^^

  • My teacher gave me the sheet music today... doesn't seem to hard. The whole song is in 1st position for the most part.... good song for beginner to intermediate guitar levels. I'll post a video response once I get the recording materials and have the song down.... Happy playing!

  • Oh thank you very much..for showing me how it really has to be played ... the right tempo is very important..not too slow and melancholic !

    It´s a real valse !

    Very very good my friend

    best regards from germany

    manuel

    ( *_Y_* )

  • I've just started learning this.... omg it's hard lol

this is amazing! well done! x

  • Good luck! I'll just stick to the listening, haha...

  • Your not from Decorah, IA are you? I know a Becca Miller!

  • Enjoyed the piece, thanks Per-Olov.

  • where do you find the sheet music for this piece? If it's not possible, where do you find the tableture?

  • From Venezuela i have to say 5 BIG STARS, thanks for the video

  • This is beautiful. I feel proud that this song came from my nation.

  • excelente!!!

  • Bravo, Per-Olov! What a beautiful rendition of this wonderful piece by Lauro.

I marvel at your excellent right hand technique and I would like to ask you a question.

I have a problem with my right hand. I am unable to alternate my index and middle fingers (I-M) without my index finger jumping uncontrollably. I use my middle and ring fingers (M-A) all of the time.

Have you ever encountered such a problem?

Any help or advice is most appreciated.

    Regards,

    Robert Romano.

  • I know a something about guitar, and I got to say, that problem is very unique. Usually people tend to have problems with alterenating M-A, and therefore they use I-M all the time. I just suggest constant practice in playing the right way, it helped me perfect my right hand.

  • You play this piece very fluent...you're arppegios have perfect timing, great volume...this is the best version of "El negrito".You inspire a lot.

    Thanks!

  • Otra excelente interpretacion, continue asi!

  • its amazing!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks Steve.

No, I don't use rest stroke in this at all. It's too, as you say, "heavy". But you need to practice anyway! He, he... :-)

    Good luck!

    Per-Olov

  • exelente interpretacion indeed!

  • Thanks a lot! Appreciated.

    Per-Olov

  • Man, you're the shit. I just heard this song for the first time 2 minutes ago, and I thought, "I should tell that Adante fella to do this song, I bet it'd be great". I clicked another video to see another performance, and who is it? IT'S YOU!!! You're awesome!!!

  • :-) I though: maybe gjmvi want's to hear this in the future so i recorded it 2 years ago :-)

    Thanks!

  • I have started with this piece. I have just reached the second section. It is pleasure to see and learn from you. By the way, does using the capo makes the piece more easier to play? Thanks for the video!

  • Hi! I am happy to hear you are playing this too.

I think you can play it a bit slower than I do. I have learned later that a Venezuelan Waltz is not this fast. Yes, the capo makes it a little bit easier. but try without first...

    Happy playing and good luck!

    Per-Olov

  • woww!! You play that so sweetly. I have listen to the other guitar pieces which you have on Youtube and i must say that i am equally impressed with those too!

    Very well done!

  • muy buena interpretacion.

  • EXELENTE INTERPRETACION

  • I once heard a friend of mine playing the same song in front of Rodrigo, and Rodrigo said to him: Stop playing...Sing it first, to your son, sing it to the trees, and once you feel it, then play it on the guitar, same thing happens with one of Rodrigo's most beatiful composition, Preludio Criollo, many tend to play it so fast, oposite to Rodrigo who sang it but with his guitar, you have a marvelous talent, great sound, so sing it my friend...

  • Hi Peo...how are you? A humble opinion from a Venezuelan musician, btw I heard your interpretation of Nostalgia by Rodrigo, or "El chueco" that was his nickname among his friends, I had the priviledge of living close to him so I met him, I know his son Ruben and I heard him so many times playing and talking about music...This piece that you play, if I could make any comments, it's like a lullaby, very sweet, you could include breaking the linear tempo with some ritardandos here and there :)

  • Mr. Peo, my most honest repects, you´re "a Crack" it´s hard to find people who plays latin american music and you had played it, and perfect (just a bit fast.. :P) i´m proud of hear this from Denmark, great to hear you play Lauro´s Vals. Thanks for bring me too much remembers from my loved land. You should play here in Tenerife, we are too much venezuelan people. Hehehe Best Regards from a venezuelan in Spain.

  • Hola! Como estás? I love Lauro and almost all Venezuelan music. And I am in love with a Venezuelan woman so I kind of "have to play it well" :-) And alfonso Montes is one of my friends. His father was the neigbour to Antonio Lauro! Tenerife sounds great!

    Saludos desde Copenhagen.

    Per-Olov

  • very lovely; i like this faster pace

  • Thanky ou! I am happy you like my version. Appreciated.

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • I love this piece, but the capo throws me off a little bit, not that i dont like it, I think it sounds awesome. Then again, sometimes I play bouree with a capo on the 2nd fret. Anywho, awesome performance!

  • Brilliant piece.

  • HI, you are not using a footstool?! how do you keep the guitar in the rignt position? are you using something that is not visible?

  • wow beautiful, actually I am Venezuelan, I have this music in my blood, is part of my culture, there is not much time i've been playing this song, and hear this, it's really inspiring and helps me a lot to improve

  • Hola!

    Pelle

  • i play this but not so perfect :)

  • Beautiful! Great technique! Why are you playing it was a capo though? Other than that, great! I play it a bit slower for my taste but you do great with it!

  • Dear Per-Olov, 5 stars as ever. Best performance I saw ever for Negrito.

    Best wishes from Munich. Andreas

  • Beautiful piece...and absolut awesome playing!

Enjoyed it very much...aahhhhhh... smile !

    Bless Manuel

  • Thanks Manuel for listening!

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • VIVA VENEZUELA Y ANTONIO LAURO!!!

  • Si!! Viva Venezuela!!

    Saludos!

    Per-Olov

  • Why don´t you come to Mexico and teach me?

Una clase al mes seria grandioso. Naciste en Bogotá, hablas español?

One class per month would be great.

  • nice played master ... however i'd like to see u playing the same song without capo... eventhough, u re awesome

  • Oh! I knew you were from Maracay.

    :)

  • Maybe, Curiepe... Definately!

    :)))))

  • YEAP!

    Jag älskar dig.

  • Ahhh! I can see you answered your own Q.! Yes, I think I was from Curiepe in another life. My parent claim that I was born in Bogotá, Colombia but I also play the drums and dance in the streets every 24th. June!? I have always had this urge to do that without knowing why. NOW I understand! THANK YOU!

    Salu2 desde Dinamarca!

    10 days... :)

  • BYW! I love your videos!! Are you from Finland?

    10 days...

  • Wonderful piece played with ease, grace and elan by a master guitarist. Thanks for posting.

  • very nice !

    thank you.

  • This a very cool version . The capo idea was great.

    Greetings from Venezuela.

  • Hola!

    Muchas gracias. Saludos desde Dinamarca.

    Per-Olov

  • you know, I have to say I'd play this piece at the same tempo simply because it is a torture for left hand (even with the capo)

but I don't play it because it's such a pity not to be able to play it RUBATO.

Tip: The highest note needs to shine more.

    LOL n.o. musician

  • maestro peo

    deepest respect

    cheerz

  • Thank you very much!

    Appreciated!

    Per-Olov

  • Excellent!! The best interpretation I've ever heard!

  • awesome, sounds is great! congratulations men, go ahead.

  • Thank you!

    Appreciated!

    Per-Olov

  • hey slick idea with the capo, it sounds great! i'm going to steal that idea

  • Thanks. You are welcome! LOL

    Per-Olov

  • beautifully played.

  • Thank you! Apprecited!

    Per-Olov

  • I think that must be the fastest I've heard it played Peo! Strange I've not seen this video until now! I think the capo helps to play it brisker...CHEAT..LOL. That makes it in the key of...E Flat?

Are you reading the score off the floor again? I can see you and I playing for my music stand in our Snooker Game!

    Bravo Amigo, good clean performance.

  • Hola Amigo! LOL

Thanks Mark! Yes, I am cheating! No, actually it makes it lighter...Eb yes! and I am reading the music on the floor because I learned it the same day.

    Snooker anyone?

    Per

  • Learned it the SAME DAY Peo??? As fluent as that in one day! Worst part is...I believe you! LOL. If you are one fraction as hot with a Snooker cue I doubt I'll be suggesting a wager! Good job I've a spare music stand...

Interesting point about it being lighter..I heard Marcello Kayath playing El Negrito and he played it slow, more romantic, that works just as well too, I like music with plenty of scope to interpret.

  • Thanks. Well, I did. I am bad at remembering pieces by heart but I have a talent for reading music. I don't know wish is best... :-) My Snooker sucks... but don't tell any one... and certanly not Mark! Schhhyyy...

I have hared this slow too! it's beautiful that way too!

    Per

  • I heard that....Pardon??

  • Darn!! Are you listneing on us!!??

    LOL

It was an early aprils fool. I am very good at snooker!!

  • Too late Peo, you're secret is out! I've just raised the stakes! If only I could still play myself..Oops, now MY secret is out! Perhaps we'd better forget about a wager and play for fun!

  • Good idea! Let's play for fun.

    See you at the table!

    Per-Olov

  • Hellou Per,if I were Antonio Lauro which I hope is in heaven I,ll feel very happy in the way you perform my music..you makeme feel heaven on the earth...thank you.....

  • Thank you. Actually his daughter Natalia commented on my "Natalia" and told me I played exactly the way her father Antonio Lauro would have liked it. That is a great honor. And I am happy for your word too! :-)

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

    Thanks for your kind words,

    Per-Olov

  • Very nice! It is among my favourite tunes. Pity its just a miniature! LOL. Thanks for playing.

I see that you are using a capo. Does it make fingering easier compared to the non capo version?

  • Thanks. I like this too! Too short though...

I used a capo to make it sound brighter. the fingering is the same really...

    per

  • Very mild, melodic sound. Great!

  • Very mild and melodic sound. Great!

  • Thank you very much! Appreciated!

    Per

  • You are one of the few great guitarists in the world, wonderful rendering, there is a venezuelan virtuoso that plays Lauro the best his name is David de Los Reyes, have you heard of him.?

  • Thank you. I am happy to hear that. Did you see Natalia herself commented on my "Natalia" Waltz? I am very honored. No I haven't heard of him. I will make a search now!

    Thanks a lot!

    Per

  • OMG Yes, David de Los Reyes. He is awesome!

I have one of his CDs. Very very nice. Pelle, I'll bring it next time we meet so you can hear it.

  • Oki-doki! I am looking forward to that! Hearing that CD, I mean...:)

I am soon leaving for that place...

  • awsome playing!! im just learning this one myself, its hard and u did a good job

  • Thank you very much! Good luck with your playing. Will we see it here?

Congratulations, you really get the essence of Venezuelan Vals.

  • Muchas Gracias! I am honored!!

    VIVA VENEZUELA!! The fight continues!

    Per

  • I remember commenting but I can't find my comment. Peo this is great! I like playing it more slowly though but it sounds great anyway! I also think it sounds better with a capo :)

  • Dear Liran! So now you are 18! Congrats! LOL

You are too kind. Yes, it can (or should) be played slower. I think John Williams plays this fast...

    Keep playing!

    Per

  • it´s funny, you inspired me to play my classical guitar and practicing again, too. Thanks, Peo. You are an outstanding artist. I love Lauro´s music. Please, would you be so kind to post the wonderful "La gatica" ? I´m waiting.....

    Best wishes,

    Markus

  • Markus,

I am happy to be inspiering you. It's the best comment I can get!

I am recording a CD right now and I don't have the time right now. But thanks for the suggestion! i love Lauso's music too! And my girlfriend is Venezuelan.

    Per

  • youre a real artist, thanks for the beautiful performance. seeing this and the other lauro piece has inspired me to return to playing more on my classical guitar. i m curious to know how youre holding the guitar in place as i can see no footstool or support under the guitar itself?? thanks again

  • Thanks a lot! Appreciated. I use a GITANO. Search google. It's great!

    Good luck!

    Kind regards,

    Per

  • Hola,

I am sorry. I don't understand this. HELP!

    Per

  • I can translate that for you... It says... "Hey, you are the master of masters, excellent performance and domain. Can you record a video of this song using G without the capo? Thank you so much."

  • Chevere ! Gracias !

  • I am happy you listen and can use my recordings as guidance! Lauros music is beautiful!

    Merci!!

    Per-Olov

  • Hellow mister Peo,

i really think, this record is one of the best interpretation for "el negrito". really beutiful

  • Hola! Muchas gracias! I love Venezuelan music! And Venezuelan women. (well one woman really) LOL

Some think I play too fast. Don't you?

    Saludos,

    Per-Olov

  • LOL, well the venezuelan women are so special.

this piece? yeah a little bit, but nothing important. i´m like a lot your interpretation, is so special too

  • I know!! They are beautiful though!! LOL

    THANKS!

  • Mr. Peo I'm a big fan of you! Your playing makes me feel awesome!! Take care

  • WOW! That's good to hear! I am very happy for that! Please keep listening!

    Kind regards,

    Peo

  • Peo/Maestro

Perfect & inspirational..thanks for introducing us to such wonderful music!

    Rich

  • Thank you Rich! i am happy you like it! An, yes, Lauro is delightfull music!

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • Let me ask you, Mr. Kindgren, is one supposed to find a guitar placement position that is most comfortable for the player? The classical guitar books I recently acquired state that the left leg MUST be supported by a footstool, but your playing is fantastic and you have a slightly different guitar placement position. Wonderful song, by the way.

  • Thanks! The thing is to get the guitar in a raised position. If you use a footstool or my GITANO dosen't matter... You can not really see it on this video. try an other one.

    Peo

  • Haha 'All lefts reversed'!

By the way.. I viseted someone who I used to play guitar with. He gave me 2 walzes. One of them turned out to be this one abd he saw you on YouTube too without me telling him. Your populairity is HUGE!

Anyway.. I'm studying this great piece now and will put it on Da Tube later!

  • WOW! That's good to hear! Thanks for telling me! I am lookinfg forward to hear your version.

    Take care!

    Peo
