Its depending on what type of sail your using and the size of the waves. If sailing only with main sail an Jib, the true wind angle is aprox. 45 degrees. If sailing with waves is about 50-55 degrees. When adding a 'kluiver' (a sail for the jib, the wind angle also reduced to 50- 55 degrees, but with the added power the ship sails the waves better.
