  • I'm a hardcore atheist and I think this is as stupid as religious camps... you can't expect a 7, 8, 9 year old to really grasp evolution or critical thinking, for crying out loud. Just let them play , teach them to never accept authority, and keep them from religious retards. Thats it... they'll turn out fine -atheist that is ;) - no need for nerdy, geeky camps.

  • the BBC is an official atheist network television?

  • @trifulquita10

    Surely thats a good thing,no?

  • @trifulquita10 The BBC is strictly impartial. and therefore if one view is expressed, then the opportunity must exist to express the opposing view. Unless of course it's a straight news story. I take it you're American

  • @daverigby23 I must be blind because i didnt see the opposing view in this reports. But i remember the reporter said that the camp is "free of religious propaganda". Ok i get it, according to the BBC we all must be atheist. Its funny, i think we all must be christian. Atheism and christianity cant live togheter in This world, one of them must dissapear

  • @trifulquita10 No, it's a straight news story. Summer camps already exist for Boys Scouts, and were in fact the worlds first scout camps. If you want to be all cosy with the establishment and the Queen, then thats the place to go.

  • @trifulquita10 In the UK you don't always need an opposing view, which in this case would have been from a christian. In the UK we have christians who can think for themselves, hence the lack of comment from some right wing religious nutjob, which would be the case in the US. Maybe that's a little hard to comprehend, religious people who can think for themselves. Yes, they're thin on the ground these days, less than 30 per cent of the population but they're warm and fed and looked after by nurse

  • @daverigby23 christians in UK are a joke, they are pro-gay marriage like any librul. At least in America we have libruls and conservatives, in Europe all the people are libruls

  • @trifulquita10 Yeah, and nobody laughs at the knuckle-dragging neanderthals in the good ole US of A huh? OK Billy-Bob

  • @trifulquita10 Shows how smart you are, in the UK there's conservatives, liberals and socialists. Shock horror,!! the Brits can think beyond narrow confines of two party politics. I think that would just confuse you poor yanks !

  • @daverigby23 if "conservatives" like David cameron support homosexuality, I can't imagine what liberals supports. 2 DIFFERENT parties are better than 3 parties that share the same sexual immorality and atheism

  • well im happy to know that religious are not the only who have camps to teach children how to think and practice indoctrination

  • @trifulquita10 It's hard to indoctrinate someone when you're teaching critical thinking, that requires questioning.

  • @DarkEmergence atheists have the right to teach scepticism to their children. Christians teach faith to their children too. But most of families dont teach secepticism nor religion to their children. Children are aphatetic

  • Gee, I don't know what was happening billions of years ago, so I'll believe that I have invisible, magical friends!

I think that matter and energy have always existed. No sky magician involved.

  • i believe in God, God has to exist, because who else created life on earth or in the universe? i just believe though that many religions are manmade and have more to do with politics rather than god! you can still believe in god and not be religious!

  • The UK is just full of so many different beliefs, so many religions/beliefs all mixed together,

I'm from the UK and grew up in a non religious home and I'm now a Christian, the same is happening a lot i think, kids brought up in strict religious homes rebel, and those not raised in a religious home come to faith as they get older and start searching.

  • @lukehase It doesn't happen alot, most people stay as what they are brought up as.

  • @wardy2294 I disagree, I have another friend who has just became a Christian and he was raised a non believer, and when you look at the intellectual Christians and apologists, quite a few were raised atheist, such as Alister McGrath, Francis Collins, William Lane Craig, C.S. Lewis and many more, and visa versa 99% of the atheists on youtube (especially from america) where raised in some sort of religious home. Probably a bad home I give, thats why their bitter against religion. {cont}

  • @wardy2294 {cont} and their trying to focus their anger on something. Of course I'm not saying it is always the case, I just mean to state it's occurring more and more. And the Christians that are coming out of unbelieving homes are often some of the best as they study more with science and faith and accept evolution and a creator God.

  • My neice asks a lot of questions, I answer them by raising more questions. I find that teaches them to hink better rather than absorb better.

  • What's with the "beautiful" in the title?

  • at first i was against the idea but i think its good to teach children from a young age to learn about religious freedom, ethical behaviour and critical thinking. Although as an atheist (little bit agnostic) myself its the journey from dogma to enlightenment that made my life better so maybe the kids should think for themselves and accept whatever belief they wish to embrace.

  • chasing unicorns...lol!! too true..now for the horror part of the show, please tune into "jesus camp". pretty clear difference.

  • I wish I lived in the UK for many many reasons, this just makes me want to live there more.

  • Thank God for Dawkins!!!! lol! I love it!

  • Its good to see that they instill the values of critical independant thought. I am currently a college student and it is unbelieveable how so many people never learned how to look outside the box as it were. More camps should be set up to encourage kids to think for themselves and analyze a situation without somebody guiding them. i just hope they don't try to bash and tarnish religion at the camp, that would defeat the entire purpose.

  • I'm an atheist, but I find it odd to send kids to a camp and "teach" them about being an atheist. Everyone has to make the choice for themselves, and most people do it later in life.

  • I love how it seems British people are fast becoming Atheists themselves...it's only a matter of time before all us rational Atheists are the dominant populous!

  • @yggdrasil89 That would be nice yes ,, but that is a dream .. If you watch any USA shows you see that almost anyone on the spotlight is still thanking their lord whenever they can .. There are a lot of mushy minded sheep in the USA....

  • @yggdrasil89 You guys are the dominant populous :D

  • @yggdrasil89 That will happen in the civilised world, but in poor countries where most people are ignorant, that may take a while. but yes this is a good sign.

  • This is heaven. Love to Camp Quest!!!

  • Oh fuck this really is fucking pathetic

  • @Dhalsim06 It's not THAT pathetic...I mean it's better than Christ Camp, right?

  • life is beautiful, make the most of it while it lasts...

  • I wish I went to that camp..

  • I wish I could go. :(

  • LOL the unicorns thing is awesome. nice camp.

  • I think the important thing for Atheist parents to do, rather than just "instil values" or offer their own conclusions, is to teach principles and have a logical and testable justifications for them. Kids need rational arguments for moral and ethical behaviour, they need the philosophical tools to work things out, not just more conclusions.

  • @Valelacerte This is one of the most disturbing things I have seen all day. This is the beginning of "atheism" being launched as a real religion, complete with the indoctrination, the profit motive, the hostility towards infidels, the intimidation of children and building up support for a political party (in this case the liberals).

The aim is of course to move atheism from a disinterested belief in logic and evidence to a nasty political force, hijacked by the left (in this case).

  • @Mrparrot73 You're scaremongering. Atheism is just the rejection of belief in the existence of deities, that's all. How could you build a religion—a belief and faith-based pursuit—on lack of belief?

What is this terrible fear you have of "THE LEFT"?

Indoctrination involves discouraging critical thinking, whereas this camp specifically advertises itself as teaching scepticism and critical thinking.

I don't see anything particularly sinister about Camp Quest; Jesus camps are far more scary.

  • Comment removed

  • @Valelacerte The reason I fear the left is because the left is out to poison modern civilization. These kids are being sent to "atheist camp" where they will be told that the big clear and present danger is some pathetic evangelical bleating about creationism in a shrill crowd in a town hall. The left wants us to see the crowd of shrill evangelicals so that we dont notice the guy who quietly snuck into that crowd wearing a suicide belt.

  • Beautiful kids? I'm hoping you're a mum...

  • A cool camp ★★★★★
