well lance with me buddy i think it was secret of mana i rented it when i was kid i didnt understand the concepts of action rpgs when i was about 5 but i sonn found out how awesome it was
Think you can do one of those Suikoden games sometime? For whatever reason I never got into that series.
I'd like to recommend Brigandine for PS1 as a strategy/RPG game you should give a try. It's gameplay is like Fire Emblem but you also have to defend and attack surrounding countries castles like in Conquest but the battles take place in a grid like battle with terrain like Final Fantasy Tactics.
You enjoy the same games I do so I think you'd get a lot of mileage out of that one.
FInal Fantasy here. I got it for Christmas one year shortly after it's release. I had no idea of what or how you were supposed to play a RPG.
My dad helped me figure out things and we made maps of the dungeons to find our way. It took such a long time and was difficult to find the right party setup. I remember it so well and it hooked me because of the time my dad and me spent working on the game to finish it.

Yep I used to rent Dragon Warrior on the weekends when I was a kid and I liked it, but on my birthday my dad did a rare thing and said he would buy a video game for me. The game I picked out was Final Fantasy because the cover was epic. I knew nothing about the game when I bought it and honestly it kicked the crap out of DW back then and then I tried FF4/2 a year later and was blown away. Definitely my favorite game in the series mostly because it's the game that got me really into RPGs.
I still remember when I first got into RPG's. First game I ever owned for myself was Breath of Fire 3. After that I pretty much played every rpg I could from Star Ocean: The Second Story to Terranigma (I'd personally love to see an LP of that one). Good times... ^_^
You traded him Skuljagger for FF4?! XD Oh man, did he get BURNED!! XD
Everyone hates on FF10-2 like it's going out of style, but for all of the cheesiness of the story, I did rather enjoy the gameplay
My first RPG was the original Final Fantasy on the NES. While I hated it at first, it intrigued me the more I played it until I decided I really liked it. The next game I played was actually FF Mystic Quest, which I absolutely loved. From there, I gave FF2/4 a try, and the rest was history...
Dark Cloud and Cark Cloud 2. I didn't give much thought at the first, but thanks to a friend of mine, he's helping me appreciate that game again. And I'd love to see what DC2's all about.
@sirkhana1 I think SO4 is a great game as well. Stupid me forgot to mention that detail. I loved the scene where Edge goes crazy over ____ _____ the Earth. That shocked me how good the voice acting was. A little over the top but very convincing and believable.
Awesome video man. It seems Final Fantasy 4 has really motivated us both to get as many RPGs as possible. Excllent story man.
Oooh Dark Cloud. I've been waiting to get my greedy fingers on that game. I absolutely want to play Suikoden 4 and 5 ever since that vlog you made. I have to thank you for showing that off man. If you're interested in the new Star Ocean (SO4), then you would probably like it. The graphics are heartbreakingly beautiful but the combat doesn't compare to TTEoT
@Atma01 SO4 also had a CRAP ton of battle trophies that were a serious drag to get (I didn't get them cause I borrowed the game from a friend) and it would take years to complete that damn list. It's like 100 BTs for each individual character in the game or something like that. Good grief..
Shadow Hearts is a game I added to my to play list that i have procrastinated in playing. I love that you included the Castlevania games. I am so glad you like Castlevania just as much as I do man. Real glad
xenogears is one of my favorites

FF9 is the most underrated Final Fantasy IMO. Also, Dark Cloud 2 is awesome! Thumbs up just for that :)
