There are two main types of stem cells, embryonic stem cells which are extracted from blastocysts (i.e developed from eggs that have been fertilized in vitro in a clinic, NOT from a woman's body) and somatic stem cells which are taken from different tissues in adults. There's also new information suggesting that umbilical cord blood has stem cells. They have GREAT potential to treat and/or cure TONS and TONS of health problems.
