I think some people may be surprised by this 'new sound', but being a dedicated TFT fan, I viewed it as a natural progression. I personally prefer the newer songs over the old, because even though songs back of the Self-Titled EP are catchy, 'The Verge' is far more mature and carefully constructed.The change in sound kind of reminds of the progression from Brand New's Your Favourite Weapon to Deja Entendu.

@CW871 They took a week writing this album because they wrote what came from their hearts, they wanted it to be raw and real, not over-produced. They were inspired in the moment, they didn't 'rush' it at all. To be honest I don't see how it's bland...it's new, it's different it's a step forward for these guys and they are so proud of this album. This band is truly amazing, they are of a minority that care about real music and it's what they live by. If you don't like it then your loss.

I mean, in the beginning it reminds me of maybe some early 90's grunge, but I think that's awesome. As for writing in a week, maybe it seems rushed to you, but I appreciate that THEY wrote the album. I think this song is more about the music and the instruments especially with the gradual build up in the beginning. And the week to write it I don't think time determines how good the music will be it's about when you're inspired and the effort. just because someone takes months to write a song doesn't make the outcome a good one. I think it's different but I wouldn't call it bland it's unique & I love it
