  • to be honest I'd rather the Jounior

  • They where throwing shit to others like chimpanzees since that time?

  • @slugnbozo ibm PC jounior.......

  • Comment removed

  • I remember the frustration of changing floppies and slow screen refresh rates.

I desperately wished for computers that are 100x, 200x, 1000x faster and much more memory.

I really didn't expect for it to happen in my life time, especially on a laptop.

  • The Apple here is not a Mac. The IBM here is not a PC. So your Mac vs PC arguments don't belong here.

  • I have both. The IIc I set up in the dining room as an display. Every so often I'll boot up the old programming disc from high school. The PC Jr sits in a box in the celler as I have no software for it.

  • @shesnailie

Easy to remedy! Serial cable plus ADT Pro for the Apple IIc. Works a charm! An older PC with a 5 1/4 360K (NOT 1.2MB!) drive for writing to the PC Jr. Could be as new as some Pentium 4s (generic systems, only!), but much older is a safer bet. I know my old Pentium 3 worked with 5 1/4s - had one mounted!

  • @Manimal347

Not sure what your 'remedy' is supposed to accomplish. The IIc is more or less complete with extra floppy drive, greenscale monitor and mouse - btw the 128k mac mouse works on this compy - along with a box of software floppies - wish I had Oregon Trail so I could die of disentary with style.

PCjr has a disk drive and 640k RAM 'sidecar' and an optical mouse that uses a reflective pad with little square dots printed on it. Has improved - not the chiclet - keyboard but no programs.

  • THE PRICE IS SMALLER??? I wishbit was like that now too....

  • @Karinesipad

Yep! PC Jr's are heavy and have poor specs plus various glitches, so they're usually worth less than the shipping cost! No reason to take one over a turbo XT clone, IMHO.

  • You could buy the C64, but then you wouldn't have access to all the Apple software which, at the time, was pretty enormous. not bashing the C64, just stating the facts. The //c did have some compatibility problems with some older software.

  • RIP steve jobs

  • DONT FORGET THE MOUSE!!!!

  • Hard to believe Apple's selling points were ever low price and a large library of software. Oh how times change.

  • No. I would rather take home a Commodore 64.

  • heh heh, i thought he was going to say floppy disk instead of programs :P

  • This is an old Apple computer. Ya'll used to have those ones to use.

  • Computers are useless without Internet. What was the point back then?

  • @ryanmshepard92 Playing games, math (like working out taxes), word processing (writing letters or a novel), keeping a database (the Apple 2c manual jokingly listed keeping a database of a Elvis Presley memorabilia collection as one of the uses of the computer), using early online services (BBS), stuff like that. Apple 2c was/is great, but I disagree with the commercial about the Apple 2c being cheap, at least compared with stuff like the Commodore 64, though compared with IBM is was cheaper.

  • @ryanmshepard92

ehm....without internet you can still write, create a spreadsheet, make graphic , design stuff. and so on.

so you can do a lot of stuff without the net.

But without the net you cannot loose your time writing bullshit ;-)

  • @ryanmshepard92

    Fancy typewriters.

  • Compare this to the MacBook Pro. lol

  • cool commercial

  • Even Windows 7 was cheap for me $8.25+tax for the installation disk.

  • @WinVistaUser2

cost me the price of a blank dvd so about £0.15

  • @OhNoNotMyPenis nice.

  • This commercial is such a douche!

  • All those thousands of floppy disks you see now fit on a $5 USB Memory Key.... with space to spare!

  • Why are these old computers always soo ungly?

  • Apple got greedy ( as i type on my macbook pro )

  • New apple to see, whatever

  • Question: Which computer would you rather take home?

    My Answer: THE COMMODORE 64!

  • Its kind of funny, Apple computers back then were CHEAPER than PC's.

  • LOL at the square mouses back then.

  • Y is apple always dissin MS lol

  • @jmans25

    Because MS sucks.

  • @summer20105707 Lol that's your opinion I like both apple and MS but I don't want to start a flame war so let's leave it at that! Lol!

  • @jmans25

Way to go brother. I can live with that. peace out.

  • i wish they were still around

  • They should have these on the Apple website as archives.

  • Comment removed

  • New :D

  • "Coincidentially" Apple chose to compare their computer to the worst computer on the market.

  • @xjod9 Apple had the most advanced tech on the consumer market at the time - The lisa was the first GUI operating system, the Macintosh was the most advanced personal computer out there and the Apple II+ its many siblings had the most programs written for it.

  • @TheEmptyHunter

There was another little computer out there at that time. That ran alot of programs at probably about half the price of an Apple. The Commodore 64. And it had the lions share of the home market as well.

  • @summer20105707 C64 all the way !!!!

  • @summer20105707 C64 all the way !!!!

  • Well if your gonna take the computer you might aswell take the mouse

  • What computer would I rather take home????

Neither. I would go out and buy a Commodore 64 for alot less.

  • @potsy5656 Me too!

  • @potsy5656 I had a Commodore 64.

Could never figure out what to do with it.

  • @jgrab1 First, buy a 5 1/4" floppy drive. Second, buy tons of floppies. Third, buy GEOS and a mouse. Then you pretty much have a fully functioning computer for pretty much under $500

  • @potsy5656 The commodore 64 was a computer for only games.

  • @Problem7Network technically it was originally a business machine but its great graphics and sounds made it a great games machine

  • Voiceman may be right, but he sounds like a condescending jerk!

  • My great great great great great great great great great great great great great great grandpa want it so much

  • i hate the old apple logo

  • @Nuclear793 I like it. It's… happy.

  • that's so...old - but it doesn't mean, that it'z bad...

  • Thats funny, they still use the same flashing of the apple like they do today.

  • Watching this commercial makes me want a Commodore 64.

  • Apple has lot less programs... and now you dont even see the difference how fast they are apple and pc they run the same to me is just the OS that is different

  • Apple II was at my high school, it was enshrined, we all gathered together and played Lemonade Stand; everyone was almost afraid to touch it. The machine entered American technology; then someone donated a network, if you completed the math courses, you get to touch computer programming.

  • Gay Pride much? God we were weird in the 80s.

  • Junoir's screen is bigger.

  • Woah! Anyone know the release date?

  • To PC lovers, it's not our fault that we make jokes of u and ur PC. It's PC that does such things which we call stupidity and when we show it, it looks like we are making jokes, while we are just showing the reallity! we are just proud to be BSF! BLUE SCREEN FREE!

  • @sepehrseb nah. It's just being with that group. what are they called again?... Fanboys?

  • @sepehrseb Well said, but, we should feel sorry for the PC users.

  • @moviesunrated 1986

  • @sepehrseb Lol played any games lately? lolol

  • @sisimariia yeah, why??

  • man..i gotta get me one of those

  • Nah, the IIC was a stinker, even for Apple fans.

It was a cut down, shoddy Apple IIe that Jobs insisted on selling over the opinion of Wozniak.

It had fewer resolutions and was only about 85% compatibale with the other Apple I computers. And it was unreliable.

For half the price you could get an Atari 520STFM, which had a GUI, or for two-thirds the price a Commodore Amiga, which creamed it in every conceivable way.

  • he forgot to take the mouse!

  • @vantageIIx Yeah, i think he is going to pick up the magic mouse at the store later.

  • I want a vintage computer.

  • So Apple adverts have always been gay?

  • yah mac owns!

  • Hahaha, Now it's the opposite. PC's are MUCH cheaper and runs alot more software while Apples cost a fortune and run less softwares.

  • Why not make fun of PCs? They suck so bad!

  • @bestfriendbikers Exactly, nice one!

  • when I was a little girl in school, bout kindergarden.. first grade.. 95.. 96? they had these kind of computers in school and they had the coolest games on them, I still remember then today and wanna go back in time and play those mother fookers again! XD

  • YEAH PCJR!!!!!!

Did you know for a short time postscript printers had a more powerful 68K processor than the apples?

  • They forgot somthing, the screen is smaller too.

  • OMG TAKE THE DANG MOUSE TOO!

  • Fack apple with you crappy programs, cant even run games properly

  • I know, mouses were not common back in the early 80s, but come on. TAKE THE MOUSE TOO.

  • The Floppy disk is built in, so its much quieter.

But not at all quieter >_>

  • Now it's the opposite: Apple are MUCH more expensive, and run less software...

  • not back then they weren't

  • Hahaha you´re damn right!

  • @xjod9 the price is more and it runs just as much software. The price is more for a reason. I have a 11 year old mac that still works, and about 10 broken pc's that aren't worth shit.

  • @xjod9

ur so damn right about that!! XD

  • @xjod9 And thus we can implicate - they are shit!

  • @xjod9 No there not more expensive. yes they have less programs

  • @luigi90900 Yeah they are, the cheapest mac tower you could buy is 2,499.00 dollars. I can buy a PC with the same performance for around 500 dollars... The only plus I can see with Macs is that media production is easier with them, in some cases, and they generally last longer. But by the time your PC craps out its going to be way out of date just like the mac.

  • @xjod9 No Yes

  • @xjod9 Remember that OSX can in theory run any *NIX software, while Windows has to make do with cygwin/mingw

  • @xjod9 Though the OS is much more user friendly, and the software is much higher quality.

  • @CaniohApps That depends on the software you are using, and what version of windows you have.

  • @xjod9 Well I like Mac better for development and composing (I'm a game developer and a music composer), but for games I can only agree with you and many more, Windows IS better for that(there are many more + better frame rate and so on)

Though to me a Mac is deffo worth the money :O

  • @xjod9 dont for get if your geting the mac book air you dont even get a disk drive(cd/dvd) with it at lest the pc in the ad came with one just on the other unit

  • Comment removed

  • @ChaosMew161 Well, then it's running Windows, so what's your point?

  • Because its a 64, its very powerfull

Because its Commodore, its very affordable.. ;o)

  • "Comes with its disk drive build in"? The PCjr also had that... were they talking about the keyboard...?

  • ha ha, jr.s keyboard almost looks kinda modern. Gotta love those chciclit modern laptop keys.

  • They were actually pretty crappy - imagine typing a 15-page report with a calculator, that's kinda how it feels ;)

  • look how far apple has come in 26 years

  • lol the mouse isnt even plugged

  • there were no mouse omg.. khm re..khm tard khm..

  • there is one, right next to the Apple 2c

  • Well, back then they had no GUI, or Graphic User Interface. The technology wasn't advanced enough to actually HAVE a mouse. You had to use keyboard controls.

But I understand why you think it's silly. Every computer has a mouse now.

  • i actually replied to Aqwert76's stupid comment...though, i do well know there was no mouse, actually, i own an apple from 1989

  • oh geeez sorry.

    I'm the retard =)

  • are you blind?? thers a mouse right next 2 the apple 2c!

  • 0:17 do you see that? it's called a "mouse".

  • I like the old macs better.

  • Apple... exclusively for people with wooden canes!!

  • @drmkkk You mean BAMBOO canes?

  • I wonder what they would say if you go back in time to the 80s with a Ultimate Gaming Rig (Windows 7, I7 extreme, GTX 295 X2, 8 GB RAM, 2.5 TB HDD, X58 motherboard etc.) and went into thier head office and played like Crysis Warhead or Farcry 2 in front of thier eyes. :D

  • LOL@the piles of floppy discs. My folks got my brother a IIc in '86 for homework purposes for hish school. Amazing how things change.

  • Apple spend there whole time slagging off Windows while Bill gates just sits back and laghs his ass off with all his $

    :D

  • And the Mac is STILL a better machine.

  • mac ftw!!

now seriously apple macintosh is the best you can get!

  • Ummm... that wasn't a Mac at all. The Apple II series was actually in competition with the Apple Macintosh series for a time.

  • You know what sucks about APPLE and their i-stuff?

    You have to buy everything!

I can get so many programs for free on a PC or non iphone

It's such a shame, Apple has some really nice looking hardware.

  • Wierd, cause I did not have to buy any piece of software to run on my macbook more that I had to my win7 (original academic license) workstation...

Best of all, the games I recently bought, run on both of them from the same DVD with no extra charge...

  • That doesn't make it good hardware, lol.

  • You don't like the "look" Apple has? I think it's pretty sleek

  • It looks nice. But it's got crappy hardware. Nothing compared to a custom built computer. When I build ones they're usually with better specs and cheaper. Neon lights also look good.

  • stop arguing cunts

  • No, a Computer can run more programs than a mac it´s 100% demostrated by many people, like an apple worker, em tha I use an imac and a mackbook, but U have got a PC with windows 2000 that can run more aplications than a mac,so...

  • @quinillo94 A mac isn't a computer now?

  • i gotta get me one them.....

  • It's some fruitcompany I think.. Sell fruits..

  • wow i guess apple has always been a bitch. like i dont think they have ONE computer commercial NOT making fun of a pc

  • They still make fun of the PC. Even today....

  • @bobbybob3680 You know why they make fun of PC's? Cos people like you get mad about it and then you remember their commercials!

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for pointing that out, I did not know that. Stop pointing out the obvious please.

  • How Could the Apple IIc was on July 28,1984 In Chicago on channel 7

  • how come the 2c has a mouse

  • Mice weren't used like they are now before the Apple Lisa, but they were around for other purposes.

  • So their anti PC ads didn't work in in 1984 and they still don't work in 2008. Seems like they would focus on the Apple being able to work in a Windows environment (I know they do some) as opposed to trying to derail a major market leader they would snuggle up a bit then take over when they aren't expecting it.

  • You've completely misunderstood Apple's anti-PC marketing. You see, buddy, some of us drive BMWs and use Macs. Others, Toyotas and low end Dells. And that's the way Apple likes it.

  • Haha what about those who have a Mac but take public transportation everywhere? Or maybe the people who have a Dell but were able to buy a Ferrari?

I mean really...I don't think owning a BMW automatically makes you an owner of a Mac. I know my boss has a BMW and a Dell notebook...so I guess he didn't get your memo.

  • dell owns apple

  • In crapware, hell yeah. For actual use and work, hell no.

  • thats beter than a 9800 vid card ill take 11111111111111111111111111111111111111000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

  • but the jr is 16 bit, while the 2c is 8 bit :(

  • Yeah but the jr. had a crappy 16 color graphic card which made it less appealing to kids.

  • Comment removed

  • "Yeah but the jr. had a crappy 16 color graphic card which made it less appealing to kids. "

    So did the Apple IIc

  • The JR's graphics were superior to the IIc's.

  • this is the ad that started all, that was the very first ad I saw in 2006 from Apple, it inspired me to learn more about Apple, who knows what would happen to me if I dint see that first ad! Great video 5 stars!
