I watch this every now and then. I touched an ac cobra 427 when i was 8 years old and have been captivated ever since. It's my favourite car. In my ultimate garage are ferraris, mclarens, bentleys, caparos, etc. But it doesn't matter which is actually best, when it comes to cars, like women, love is in the eye of the beholder. One day I'll own one if those things. I hope;-)

Bikes don't corner fast. Very little contact patch avail. The bikes advantage is acceleration only, compared to a car (power to weight).....straight line braking may go to the bike also, but how often is a bike upright and braking. A lightweight and high-powered car, with a descent driver should rule the twisties.....
Gotta choose your battles wisely and know your vehicles limitations.
@freeclimb64 in New Zealand theres usually not much time between speeding up and slowing down, as you can see and hear... we have alot of very difficult and windy roads. also at 1:19 you can hear that he did change up but then had to change down again almost straight away.
This road is a simple one relatively speaking - no ultra narrow gorge road with 10k limited corners. if it was closed off he could have had some real fun - maybe even hit peak revs....

This cobra replica is by no means slow! It was faster around Ruapuna racetrack than the 427 big blocks!! Maybe these blokes are having fun without being stupid? They obviously know the road well and know and which corners are dangerous and which are safe. Unless you have a drag car a 1000cc sportsbike should be quicker off the mark! But I'm sure if the car was pushed on the corners it would eat that bike. I have ridden for years and a well set up car takes a lot to get away from!

Yes, most cars do not weigh 2100 lbs like the Cobra did. And that is the reason why the Cobra did not sell it was not much of a car. Most cars weigh 3000 - 4000 lbs.
Now it makes sense. In that case the AC is one of the baddest ass cars ever. 060 in 3.2 in a 2009 chassis is exhilarating enough, but in a 50 year old chassis? That's gotta be some monster adrenaline rush. I thought my GSXR was exciting but this... What would the 0100 time on the AC be? I think the RSV should do it in 6-6.5 or the 1/4 if you know it, again the RSV should be around 10.5s.

the fastest bike as far as laptimes go is a ducati Desmocedici. but they are 40,000 pounds lol. zx10r's r1, cbr1000's and gixerthous are all faster round a track then an rsvr.

LOL - I know I don't know everything. And I freely admit it. But anyone who thinks the an R1/CBR/GSXR/ZX10 'wouldn't hold a candle to an RSV' smokin some good stuff. They are down 40hp, weigh more and dont handle as well as the inline 4 - 1000s. Thats not my idea of badass.. but whatever floats your boat.
Yeah, they'll hold a candle but two different stories. The chassis, brakes and suspension are superior to any japanese 1000's. The aprilia is heavier and is down 40 horse but your wrong about the handling! Thats why the rsv factory won masterbike in 2006! We're talking brembo and ohlins! They are all sweet but the twins are just as powerful now. Ducati 1198 170hp and 370 lbs dry, not to mention the italians know how a bike should look. Now Aprilia has the RSV4, V4 185 hp, it's gonna be a beast!
Two great machines wasted on a couple of dorks. That bike should have been a distant memory and with a competent rider, it would have been. Worse yet, the guy in the Cobra is COASTING through the turns - 'cause he's scared. Just because you can buy it, doesn't mean you can drive it.

Very true 350hp in the Cobra is about a 3.2 sec 0 to 60.
I am just just about done building mine I fire it up this week 480-500 hp supercharged will see once it is dyno'd

Are you sure? I know cars but not the AC, 350hp sounds like it should be 060 in the 4.5-5.0 range. I know the RSV does it in 3.1.

firstly wtf is a litre bike??? anyways dont forget the camera only shows whats directly ahead of the car, those slow corners on the wrong side of the road all hes doing is turning his head and looking whats coming but with the camera looking straight ahead it looks like he is being crazy. maybe your just one of those pussy do gooder daydream drivers that does nothing wrong but still seems to manage to run off the road and hit a tree....

Nice piece of road, shame about all the traffic. I'm not sure the rider was all that good looking at his body posture, he should have been miles in front of the car. No wheelies out of corners either.

lol my dad had one with the original engine and chassis, but it'd been wrecked and rebuilt with new parts... lol it dyno'd at something like 650hp, i'll have to check again... post vids soon...

The very reason the Cobra was such a dominating a race car, was not only its power to wieght ratio but its ability to handle corners. I couldn't imagine wanting to drive a Cobra anywhere else. Great vid, specially the wave and the pip at the end, respect from both sides. Loved it and i'm jealous.

lmao anyone who thinks an aprilia rsv 1000 r factory is the fastest production bike *as far as lap times go* doesnt even know anything about motorbike. not only is the aprilia NOT the fastest production bike, its not even the fastest v-twin lol.
the fastest bike as far as laptimes go is a ducati Desmocedici. but they are 40,000 pounds lol. zx10r's r1, cbr1000's and gixerthous are all faster round a track then an rsvr.

LOL - I know I don't know everything. And I freely admit it. But anyone who thinks the an R1/CBR/GSXR/ZX10 'wouldn't hold a candle to an RSV' smokin some good stuff. They are down 40hp, weigh more and dont handle as well as the inline 4 - 1000s. Thats not my idea of badass.. but whatever floats your boat.

Yeah, they'll hold a candle but two different stories. The chassis, brakes and suspension are superior to any japanese 1000's. The aprilia is heavier and is down 40 horse but your wrong about the handling! Thats why the rsv factory won masterbike in 2006! We're talking brembo and ohlins! They are all sweet but the twins are just as powerful now. Ducati 1198 170hp and 370 lbs dry, not to mention the italians know how a bike should look. Now Aprilia has the RSV4, V4 185 hp, it's gonna be a beast!

Two great machines wasted on a couple of dorks. That bike should have been a distant memory and with a competent rider, it would have been. Worse yet, the guy in the Cobra is COASTING through the turns - 'cause he's scared. Just because you can buy it, doesn't mean you can drive it.

"Coasting through the turns 'cause he's scared"? It looks like hes coasting in the turns because there's a biker in front of him. Also it is usually a bad idea to accelerate while turning, especially in a powerful rear wheel drive car.
