These are great ladies from the city of Lucknow. They come from a Syed Gharana. Lady Imam Bandhi aka Kajjan Begum passed away in 2000. May her soul rest in peace. Her sister Shamim Bano resides in Karachi and daughter Mahnaz travels worldwide grace us with her mind-blowing and sufi performances. May Allah keep her in his protection.
Mahakavi...It has been a very long time since I listen any Marsiya, being rendered in such a perfection...Looks like very Avadh style (Lucknow, Rudauli or Faizabad)..Would you please tell me which city they are from? Last tiem I listened was from two brothers Aggan & Naqqan and their brother in law Zaheerul...Their voice used to be perfect...old days...now I never get such marsiya khan to listen to....

Kajjan Begum ka ta'alluq Lucknow se tha. Hijrat karke Pakistan chali gaiiN. Mahnaaz inhi ki beiti haiN.
