  • wonderful song but... studio version! please don't sing live. or just learn how to do it.

  • Matt Walker. Simply one of the best drummers in rock and roll.

  • what the age this live?

  • singer looks like a pedo

  • most of d song from dis band r really heavy but their softer song is d best, maybe a tip 4 them so they should keep writing dis instead of heavy rock songs, best song ever

  • How did Geno get such a distorted sound on his acoustic without any feedback?

  • @sonic777111 its not ac

  • ok two questions... Where is that awesome percussionist right now, and what happened to awesome Italian looking mustache bass player?!?! :( I loved that guy!

  • @Guercinator No idea about the percussionist, but the bass player (Frank Cavanagh) is now a Sergeant in the US Army Reserves.

  • @gnrboy Steve Gillis, the drummer, has his own studio in chicago "Transient Sound".

  • @Guercinator That's Mike Johnston. Search for "drumteacher76".

  • looks good as usual go filter

  • That percussionist is getting into it...

  • @Sonic2021 He was the drummer for an under the radar band called Simon Says.

  • I thought this hade to do w/ meech the million dollar kid ooopz wrong1

  • just heard it today in the radio here in Italy (Virgin Radio) and how I liked it...again...as I loved it when it came out

  • @giovannimilan I dont know why but i think its cool that ure comment was posted 2 minutes ago :P

  • no screaming here... for me, just an ok performance

  • it's hard to completely rock out playing an acoustic guitar. but damn that guy is really doing it!

  • I love this song. I wish they would play this on the radio again.

  • also; such intensity at 3:41! LOLS

  • when he sings "cause i won't remember" he sounds like he's self autotuning the sound. HAHAHAH in these new days... you know they'd autotune the hell out of those microphones

  • as a matter of fact i love the song but from this version i really didn´t like the fact that the song is shortened and the scream yeah! it´s a very nice part the singer didn´t feel comfortable to do like studio version. anyway. yeah a lot of really great music was created in the 90´s specially the begining and the end of the decade. it was something like the 60´s were back. somehow had that spirit of feeling emotions and being kind of dark at the same time.

  • @carloscorduroy Dude, the original song is like six minutes long. When these bands perform on TV they only have so many minutes to perform.

  • @pica6888 Exaaaaactly

People need to know what theyre talkin about before they run their mouth

  • I see why they dissapeared they suck live

  • @stingman94

You obviously haven't seen many bands live before, are you aware how hard it is to play guitar and sing lead?

This live version sounds pretty much like the studio version. Their previous material was considered industrial rock from 1995, this was 1999, and this song had a softer lyrical style.

  • I bet most of the dislikes on this video are because some people are disappointed that the singer didn't scream the "Hey dad, what do you think about your son now?" part.

  • @live4rock05 why did u have to bring that shit up asshole? That was not needed nor asked for

  • igual es preciosa esta cancion naaa que verrrrrrr

  • I cannot understand why I love this song so fucking much.

  • @2ndhandsoul Cause it was time before niggers took the spot light

  • hey he didn't scream the middle part, hey dad what do think about your son now, ala Kurt Cobain!

  • great vid great song does anybody do it live anymore

  • Comment removed

  • hahah they have a syncronized rocking back and forth

  • Even though i hadn't experienced the 90's that much, i appreciate the music back then compared today. Music back then actually had meaning, and created such good memories in my life so far.

  • Hello from whence frames an image sewn from fabricates far n few...

  • Wide open Wow when wills wane won why we wish wonders...

  • ...stinging so slung against a new indulgence from when no yesterdays tomorrows could possibly but do find harmony...

  • Richard lacks emotion vocally in this performance. The acoustic version on K rock is a far better reflection of his vocal abillities

  • Who`s the second guitar player?! is it Zacc Diebels who`s played with Mike Johnston at Simon Says?!

  • Poor job of a good tune! Band needs to breakup and go their separate ways!

  • @begoneyoubum woah dude i highly disagree

  • and died it did!

  • for such a great song and band, that was a terrible performance

  • my pasok na bukas

  • either he has a sore voice or he actually just cant sing, this is so average !!! this song went from awesome to poor...sorry

  • the conga player is Mike Johnston. He does drum lesson videos on Youtube.

  • hey any year is a great year for music as long as it turns you on!

  • love this song, love this band, dont love the turtle neck.

  • 90's is the best year for MUSIC.

  • brings back old memories,tearfully.

  • Give me a break. People think Filter sounds like U2?? Listen to "Welcome to the fold", or "You walk away". LoL

  • una gran cancion me parece genial esos años fueron maravillosos.

  • Is it just me, or does this like U2? Not being an ass or anything, for a while I seriously thought it was U2. That thought and not being able to tell what the lyrics are didn't let me find it for a long time. lol I'm a dumbass, I know.

  • @PyrozPlayground same thing, it sound like a U2 song !

  • @Holter62113 same to you gentleman

  • @PyrozPlayground hey dude filter iis one of the better bands of the 90s, u2... not a bad band but the style is very different.. so dont be a wanker and inform yourself before writing.

    thanks

attentively: your friend who can not stand stupid people

  • @kruzpe Wow... sorry for living in what is apparently your world.

    0_o

  • @PyrozPlayground

Virtually the same chords as "Bad" from the Unforgettable Fire.

  • @jphilmore its like 3 chords more than half way through then theres 2 more

  • Nice song on the radio but this isn't a great live perfromance. Sorry, this got nothing on Van Halen, Aerosmith, Whitesnake, Iron Maiden etc....or the pop rock bands before the 90s like Simple Minds, The Fixx, etc....Except for some ok songs in the 90s and a few good albums, music died in the 90s. When all the "classic" bands like I mentioned stop touring and making new albums, consider rock music dead. Nothing will replace them ever, it's over.

  • one of my fav' songs from filter, way different than their usual sound, but it shows how patrick is able to go outside his vocal range...awesome

  • Classic 90's stage poses, gay.

  • @generatrix999 As opposed to today, where they stand on their heads. WTF?

  • @MrJtr1888 ---

Go back, learn. You may have grown up in the 90's thought is was cool, but you need to realizes what came b/f, what it came out of.

Just like today, music is still de-evolving.

  • @generatrix999 Or, perhaps you should simply enjoy music and not analyze it. Go back, figure out why you became so bitter and homophobic, and make peace with it. What or who do you consider as 'evolved' music?

  • If anyone is looking for another song like this......- Kill the Day of Anthems for the Damned, released in 200 and 8.

  • fuckin great, good times 1999

  • i absolutely love this song but holy shit this is absolutely terrible live

  • GREAT sound

  • What a wonderful song !

  • What kind of guitar is Richard playing?

  • He usually plays Fenders. Not sure what model that is.

  • this seriously sucks.... he doesn't even do any lite screaming....

  • This song was 10 years ago no.37 in the world charts

  • Muito boa essa música do Filter!! Maravilha.

  • guy in the back playin the guitar...did he win a contest to play with the band? he is the most excited person in the room!!

  • lol XD

  • @karlm38 haha...i never noticed that before. lmao. nice!!

  • @karlm38 hahahah that shit cracked me up man, i was thinkin the same thng!

  • I think alot artists get tortured by their own songs by virtue of having to play them over and over. This leads to live variations that are different then the original. Its not that they aren't capable but its hard to maybe conjure up the emotion for every show like they had during the recording of the song. Either way I enjoyed this.

  • @GEARHEADCT you hit the hammer right on the nail

  • @GEARHEADCT You're exactly right. I remember reading an interview with Richard and Geno where Richard said he recorded the screaming part immediately after he'd injured his hand, so that he could put the pain he went through to good use. Similarly, he recorded "I'm Not the Only One" after his girlfriend broke up with him.

  • vocals really suck

  • this is a great song but the live version really sucks

  • nice guys

  • this is my summer romance of 2001 song lol

  • @Dogapsa

yeah, maybe... but what i do know is that he will NEVER sound like mr Levi.tate mya ss

  • i wish he did the high notes, he never did live

  • Wow they are amazing live

  • why do these guys rock so hard? i dunno what it is but they have a geene' sa pwa

i cannot pin down... believe me ive tried..

    they just rock

  • @MrWesley3000 I believe you meant the have a "Je ne sais quoi"

    :P

  • Speaking of which, I might just get started on that!!

  • esta cancion si que rockeahhhh!!!!!!!

    atte:cachorro mc....

  • that song is so awsome he sings it really well too:)

  • It sings: away go my airplane... or awake on my airplane??

  • I believe it's "Awake on my airplane" - but I myself didn't find that out until about two years ago. Hence the reason the most common interpretation is about his airplane incident. To me it's always sounded like he's singing "Waycomyaplene," which I always thought was some kind of drug or something.

  • "awake on my airplane"

  • 1999 ! *_*º!

    what a wonderful year!

  • @sideradot

The 90's are te best thing that has happened to time!

  • Far from it.. But.. Whatever.. :)

  • One hit?

They had several songs in heavy rotationon rock radio and Hey man nice shot was a meghit on a different album

  • awesome song to cover at a bar

  • one of the best of the 90's decade

  • no offense but the song was released in 2000 x)

  • Oh, wait, November 1999. xD

  • amo essa musica.......

  • is not nice..

  • tease....

  • i am french, and just for the style of this song,i say"LIVE AMERICA"FORZA AMERICAAAAAAAAAAAA or USAAAAAAAAAAA

  • nicht schlecht

  • This was good, too bad no one else sings it was missing a 2nd voice AND I was waiting for him to sing the chorus in proper time and the same notes like the original just once.. just once (I know its just a slight difference)

but I love the drum/cymbal fill ins!

  • it's a really great song, back when the music was that,, music that could make you really feel the time,, thank u 90's

  • Awe, 1999, the year before music died!

  • @DopeJedi the late 90s sucked. Boy bands everywhere.

  • @DopeJedi totally agree

  • @DopeJedi idiotic pattern seeking animal....I pitty we share a common origin

  • Not as "rubbish" as your English.

  • Band sounds great! But it sounds like there singer depends a little too much on Melodyne in the studio, unfortunately so do a lot of other artists.

  • I think he sounds great live

  • this song makes me want to be ontop of a mountain with my arms open wide

  • @Daltonn0810 I know, this is a very uplifting song that has lifted me out of depression several times in my life.

Ironically, though, the song is actually about Rich getting drunk on an airplane and ripping off his clothes - an incident he doesn't remember, hence the chorus. Sorry if I spoiled it for anyone.

  • Some people say it is about a child being abused by his father, actually I 've read it in a webpage. I wonder what's the song is about. What do you think?

  • Do you have the webpage citation?

  • Is it just me or is there a hologram guitarist in the back?

  • haha hologram, there is somthing weird there looks too small and the lighting on him, very strange :)

  • One of my fav´s Filter´s songs.....I´ve always wanted to hear it watching the sea.....don´t know why......

  • the guys they have now are way better especially the guitar player from chapel hill

  • this is my favorite filter song. I can listen to it for hours

  • Filter needs a real reunion. gino, steve and Frank.

  • 100% agree with u!!!!

  • GOTTA LOVE IT! Please someone take my picture before I die...Bless you all.

  • heard this on the girl next door!

    love it!

  • and this song is hella old how is there not an official vid from these guys? lol

  • There is an official video, you can watch on their actual website.

  • totally didnt know this was by filter, lol

  • love this song!!!

  • i want a short bus #2 !!!!!!!

  • thats why In U.S. sucks they dont wanna play in radio some song in 90s.....

  • I dont see how this band is industrial rock. There more like radio rock. For those of us who forgot, industrial rock is nin, and skinny puppy.

  • I agree, Filter is only considered industrial rock by their association with NIN.

However, industrial or not, they are a fantastic band.

  • One of the most melodic, inspiring, inspiring songs ever.

  • Agreed :) Gorgeous song, even the cynics can't help but love it.

  • Me llega al huevo que solo haya puro video en vivo y covers cojudos y no este el video original de la cancion.

  • Estoy totalmente de acuerdo contigo! pero bueno este es el mas decente xD

  • mmmm... i don´t like the way he sings this song here... why they don´t realize what we want to hear is the same lyrics and the same tones? :( definetly not the same feeling of the studio version.

    (sorry for my english xD)

  • That's because it's live. *eye roll* You wanna here the studio version then listen to the studio version. Jeez. There's a reason that songs sound better on albums. They're processed and done until they're perfect.

  • wow, that was another mission for the Captain obvious...

i´m not talking about quality, i´m talking about the strange way he sang here. he change the lyric, and cut some parts that really add a special feeling in the studio version, like some falsetos and a lot of voice arrangements. i think the song´s estructure is nice, but a little bit repetitive so whitout that details, in my opinion it sounds like a generic rock song.

  • Richard Patrick probally lost his voice and was probally drunk when he sang this. Just kidding. :)

  • hahahahah true!

  • Comment removed

  • I know what you mean hagener.. I'm willing to upload the 'studio version' of it but I don't know how to put video under a mp3 (or vice versa). If you know how to, PM me for a little tutorial or I'll send you a link with the mp3 :)

  • maybe with Windows Movie maker xD if you want to do something a little bit more complex try using Adobe premiere, or Sony Vegas... :)

  • Lol !

  • Attitude problem!!

  • a song that makes me feel good:)

  • For all those who don't know, Richard Patrick's older brother is none other than Robert Patrick, alias the "T-1000" in "Terminator 2", as well as FBI agent John Doggett in "The X-Files"

  • what hilarious?!

  • Comment removed

  • i love mike johnston hes amazing

  • haha im loving the bass player with the bald head and moustache...looks like some french canadian soldier

    this song is awesome

  • lmao.

    dude that's hilarious

  • Muito boom!

  • Aside from being completely clever, he managed to spell you're wrong.

  • this is awful

  • your A FUCKING DEAP THROATER

  • that's clever

  • Look at that dick head rythum guitarist in the back ground!??

  • yeah that cocksucker in the background forgot that this is a melow song not "hey man nice shot"

  • LOL!!!!! but, his voice sounds better yelling " HEEEEYYYYYY MAAANNNNNN, NIIIIICCCEEEEE SHHHOOOOTTT"
