DAmn, dude, it's damn clear you like Nvidia more than AMD. The camera on the AMD card is closer, the game on the AMD card is running. And thus its' running cooler, you say "but it is much louder". Oh, and get your measurments fixed : in 2012, we use Celsius and metric.
why dont you guys go find some british dude to do the same thing if you dont want to hear the American measurement system, in english. Otherwise, shut the fuck up.
I love both ATI and Nvidia cards, but with these ones i would pick the Nvidia GTX 590 because of the noise different, i got a 5870 and it gets pretty noisy
The Gtx 580 3x 4way SLI CUDA accelerated Cluster at my work produces more sound than a GTX 590, still who cares about noise... whats annoying is that the room youre standing in reaches 37C ambient temps, when the AC-system breaks down...
Noise is irrelevant, i want performance. I still drench the sound in my games...
you just punched my choice in the face. i think i'll have to go with the 6990 right now because it sounds like even though it is spurting out lots o' sound but just to increase longevity.
Stop arguing which is better. People prefer cards over one another. This is as pathetic as the losers that own a console arguing saying "OOOH XBOX IS BETTER!" or "PS3 IS BETTER!" At the end consoles suck ass, PC is superior. People prefer what they want, there is no better, all cards/consoles have an advantage over one another.
also you gotta consider that the 590 is not a blower fan style and its more of a blade fan which really is quieter but runs hotter cause it sucks at pushing air on the inside of the card properly unlike the 6990, 6990 blows the air on the both sides of the graphics card much better than the 590 therefore idk how loud it is i just want my performance and cool temps so thats why i go with 6990.
You can set the cooling-fan speed with AMD VISION Engine Control Center with AMD Overdrive or using MSI Afterburner. Its louder cause it cools more -.-
@yoda56789 oh sorry, I'm from germany - which is why I thought you meant degrees celcius. 150°F are ok for full load. but it should not run much higher (about 80°C - 176°F)
@XpucToTaweBXpucToB If you might have noticed its AMD not ATI. Nvidia comes from the latin word invidia which means: envy, hate, reluctance, malice and resentment. Whos the devil?
These are the reference coolers so buying a gigabyte 6990 with there heatsink would give different sounds. the 6970 i have overclocked, is impossible for me to heat and I've never exceeded 47C.
6990 can run 5 monitors... 590 can run 4. for multimonitor gaming, you should use an odd number of monitors so crosshairs or text is not spanned between two displays. i dont have either but 6990 wins imo.
@tomcatdcn I'll use my hdtv while i save money for a 22" or 24" monitor for my pc. As for the processor, i think i really don't need i7, i'm not planning to use my pc for rendering anyways. Is gtx570 better than sapphire 6870?
ya okay? amd 6990 is cooler, but you can turn the fan down if the temps are not really that hot, so than you have less noise for still great cooling...
if the card is noisy, means is pushing a lot of air true the fins, I like that my video card runs cooler an last longer, that run silent and last less time.
@jarekuXhide did you seriously ask if the gtx 590 support direct x? . nvidia has been supporting direct x since it first came into creation. it's a dx 11 card just like all the amd 6000 series of cards. lol. Read alittle. It helps
Of course ATI will be cooler, you are testing it on a GAME, heavy physx and shader, nvidia kicks the ass of ATI so it'll heat, nvidia is giving LESS weight on CPU, this compare is stupid for ones do not know
At a res of 1920x1080 running games like SC2, BFBC2, CoD 4, The Witcher 2 and games that are comming out like Skyrim and BF3 which card is a better option with the i5 2500k processor, the PowerColor 6970 or the EVGA 570??
You're a fucking fag. When you pause a game (and I know that cause that happens to me) the card's fan slows down, and reasons are obvious. So why did you record your nvidia's part with the game paused and the ati's video with the game running? Youre a douchebag - HM7
@gamedexterity I agree with what your saying but since I have a GTX 590 I can tell you without guessing that the GTX 590 is actually that quiet , I mean if he didin't pause the temps woulda been a bit higher sure but the fan cools it but cools it quietly, I literally had to keep my ear pressed to my case trying to hear this thing , even under full load it runs quiet and not TOO hot for gf 110's.
planhopeless, hopeless geforce fanboy.. if you like the gtx 590 so much then why dont you marry it asshole, instead of trolling on youtube about how great your gtx 590 is why dont you play on the gtx 590, its a graphics card not really a bragging rights item

@Chen6556 no problem ;) well i would wait a bit as both cards have still some driver problems, i would wait at least a month or around that with a mono-GPU card, but i think HD 6990 wins, but for very little

@Micro94Ice ive had 1 ati card in my life and i will never use one again. In the few games i played using it... it artifacted in most of em. It had the latest drivers
@kohy1990 Don't say its shit. If you give the right workloads the 6990 will smash the nVidia. Same when it comes to choosing between the X6 and an i7.
@kohy1990 What card are you using??? I have the XFX AMD Radeon 6970 with no problems i have never had one game crash, but ive heard of my friend with his EVGA GTX 580 with driver issues that make his game crash
Wow.. i have a 6990, and you need to get a different program like, msi afterburner for fan control, of course, for amd they make it so the fan runs more but on nvidia they let it run quieter and let it get hotter, in a case you can tell much of a difference...

@kohy1990 Don't say its shit. If you give the right workloads the 6990 will smash the nVidia. Same when it comes to choosing between the X6 and an i7.

@kohy1990 My last ATI card caused memory dumps. Major driver issues. And the newer the driver, the worse the card preformed.

Wow.. i have a 6990, and you need to get a different program like, msi afterburner for fan control, of course, for amd they make it so the fan runs more but on nvidia they let it run quieter and let it get hotter, in a case you can tell much of a difference...
