What a card this was, an interim heavyweight match between Mir and Big Nog. The grudge match between Rampage and the Axe Murderer and the Light Heavy Weight Championship between Griffin and Evans. Today's days interim fights and non title fights are main events sometimes.

What if he taps but the ref doesn't see it? He releases then the guy that gets caught can go back and go "Oh I didn't tap this should be a no contest or restart the fight" Like i said before its his job to keep the submission locked in until the ref sees and stops it. Soon as the ref sees the tap the fight is over that's why when you see something locked in and the fighter feels the tap he looks to the ref to make sure he sees it so he can let go.
There are also judges that can make that distinction. Just because the ref doesn't see it doesn't mean it wont count as a submission. I fought MMA the whole time I was in the Army. It is about putting on a good match and still being able to fight. Anybody fighter that holds onto a submission after the second tap is either ignorant or out to injure somebody. I was in 37 fights and I won 10 of those by submission and I never broke any of my opponents bones.
@133lash I remeber a long time ago, ken shamrock fought royce graice and shamrock got choked and tapped, gracie let go, and the ref was like keep fighting, gracie said he tapped, and shamrock admitted, so the fight was over...It was one of the first UFC fights ever, probably like UFC 1 or 3 or something...Nowadays, I'm not sure, I'd guess they would look at the tape and see, so many camera's there, they'd pretty much have to catch it...

Staph infection makes you weaker because your body uses energy to fight the infection and you can't go as hard as usual. Brock has learned about submissions and thats why Mir was destroyed the second time they fought.
Staph infection does make you physically weake. Nog has taken shots alot harder then that and still didnt budge. A tap is a tap. If he didn't tap, that's his fault, but if a guy taps, you release. The goal is to make them SUBMIT, not break something.

What if he taps but the ref doesn't see it? He releases then the guy that gets caught can go back and go "Oh I didn't tap this should be a no contest or restart the fight" Like i said before its his job to keep the submission locked in until the ref sees and stops it. Soon as the ref sees the tap the fight is over that's why when you see something locked in and the fighter feels the tap he looks to the ref to make sure he sees it so he can let go.

There are also judges that can make that distinction. Just because the ref doesn't see it doesn't mean it wont count as a submission. I fought MMA the whole time I was in the Army. It is about putting on a good match and still being able to fight. Anybody fighter that holds onto a submission after the second tap is either ignorant or out to injure somebody. I was in 37 fights and I won 10 of those by submission and I never broke any of my opponents bones.

@133lash I remeber a long time ago, ken shamrock fought royce graice and shamrock got choked and tapped, gracie let go, and the ref was like keep fighting, gracie said he tapped, and shamrock admitted, so the fight was over...It was one of the first UFC fights ever, probably like UFC 1 or 3 or something...Nowadays, I'm not sure, I'd guess they would look at the tape and see, so many camera's there, they'd pretty much have to catch it...

Staph infection does make you physically weake. Nog has taken shots alot harder then that and still didnt budge. As for him being knocked unconscious 8 times, Thats imposssible, once you're knocked unconcious, the fights over. Also, Randy did give brock the most resistance. Mir was getting his ass kicked when he caught him in a kneebar. It was brocks 1st ufc fight and he made a rookie mistake. But Mir was getting dominated, where randy was NOT getting dominated, he just got caught with a punch.

I don't think Mir deserved that win against Nogueira. I mean any true MMA fan knows that the man known as Minotauro - the living legend - did not show up that night. The man had a staph infection for god's sake. Nogueira looked drained and sick.
I just hope he comes back stronger and better at UFC 102.

first of all i dont think that mir didnt accomplish much by beating nogueira,in that fight nogueria didnt look healthy as u usually does,i feel that nogueira wasnt at 50%-but thats my opinion- second lesnear vs tyson is a wast of time lesnear would stomp mike tyson out-tyson isnt an mma fighter hes a boxer- if there should be any fight it should be lesnar vs lasly or lesnar vs check congo

UFC not fake and I like boxing a lot more, its just that i feel boxing takes a lot more skill then some gorilla just jumping on you. And most people just want to see some gore, thus boxing is underrated.
