  • You lucky this is a old video because i would be talking some shit to you. You and your so called "friend" just don't know shit about music.

  • I like Pro tools so far.

  • Protools is a standard from an older time. TRADITION! I don't think it's better than Cubase, Sonar, etc. There was a time when ProTools really was king and Cakewalk and the rest were utter crap...but that time is now loooonnngggg past. Old timers who spent a fortune on this stuff just want to believe their brand is still the shining best, and they can "back" it up by saying "It's the production standard & if you don't have it, you're screwed!". & they are right..cause change is hard.

  • IT'S CALLED AD/DA CONVERTERS..THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE WITH THE TRUE HD SYSTEM'S....it's the 192 INTERFACE ....THAT'S ALL!

  • =,=

  • I use a PC and used Cubase before switching to Pro Tools. Both are fantastic DAWs, but people arguing that Pro Tools is a waste of money need to realize that they're going into an industry where 90% of the professional studios you'll go to work on G5s/Mac Pros running Pro Tools HD. The ability to adapt to technology is ABSOLUTELY KEY in this industry.

Both are great, and honestly if there was no Pro Tools i'd probably still use Cubase, but using anything other than PT puts you at a disadvantage

  • "PT is better routed for outboard and analog equipment" bullshit!!! Bunce of PT salesman everywhere.

  • PT is better routed for outboard and analog equipment, the integration makes it better for big studios running big desks and outboard effects, whilst Cubase and other programs are better suited for smaller all-digital studios. And yeah, you won't learn how to ride a bike using two paper clips and a straw, you need an actual bike. People crack and download stuff to learn (atleast I do), and when their studio is in fact making money they use the revenue to buy the plugins.

  • This is great. I don't understand why so many people get upset about different DAWs. Each one works in its own way and therefore has its own drawbacks. There is no rule that says you MUST use ProTools to create great audio work. Use whatever you feel comfortable with and realize that other people may not share your own opinion. Props to techbreakfast for a hilarious video.

  • sounds like it was made by a butthurt protools drone. hilarious as hell though!

  • I am a Sound Engineer. I work in protools HD2 7.4. Although I love it, it is certainly not the only software out there or even the best. What's funny that people don't seem to realize is that the think Protools "sounds" better. That's not what it's good for... for me it's a trade off between a great workflow & shipping with minimum features & being expensive as hell. For me, it's practical to spend the money... simply because I'm fast on it. But all the DAW's are good.

  • @AcmeEvil sir can i ask you a ?... wats ur thought on comparing pro tools 9 Le or essentials not the HD comparing with the new Sonar X1..????

  • @TheSuperMusicMan82 I run Protools 9 LE at home. I love it, but it's expensive to unlock the whole feature set, and then there's plugins. I like Protools because of it's focus on keyboard shortcuts, and the simplicity of moving projects between systems, and workflow for video. It's all about workflow.. the sound quality is all the same no matter the DAW. Choose the one you are more comfortable working in, with the features you need. Protools was the right choice for me.

  • @TheSuperMusicMan82 ...A friend of mine does all his work in Sonar, and loves it. (And his stuff sounds great) From the looks of things SONAR gives you a great feature set right out of the box. And I bet they beat Avid to 64bit processing (If they haven't already). If SONAR does everything you need it to do and it's also cheaper, then that's the one to pick.

  • @TheSuperMusicMan82 ...The questions to ask are: Does the interface make sense? Can I accomplish tasks quickly and easily by comparison? Can I group faders? (Very important feature) What is my budget? What do my options cost? Is there a good selection of plugins? What plugin formats are supported? What hardware is supported? Is there a limit on track count? (Protools looses that one for sure) Ask those questions and pick the winner. Far as sound goes, they're all pretty much the same.

  • @TheSuperMusicMan82 I can't speak too much for Sonar. But Protools is like this: Great mixing and editing environment if you learn keyboard shortcuts. Just using the mouse sucks. But if you know shortcuts, very fast to do things. As of PT9, decent selection of out of the box plugins, but you will want more. Low track count compared to everything else. As of 9 no longer requires Avid Hardware. Has it's share of bugs, addressed with CS updates. Love it for film and TV sound....

  • @TheSuperMusicMan82 ...bottom line, give them both a try and buy what you like better. If your getting the sound you want, that's all that matters!

  • LMFAO killing me

  • ProTools is fucking marketing and that's all. You can do the same (if you know) in Cubase, Nuendo, Logic, Sonar, Reaper, Abelton Live. I hate people claiming that PT has something more to offer and that is a pro standard. Pure bullshit. Most user unfriendly DAW I ever tried.

  • @Vanjal

Actually, I have found Protools to be one of the most consistent and intuitive DAWs out there.

There's a certain utilitarian aspect to the design that I appreciate. Not super flashy, but very

usable, especially the command keys . they really thought that through well.

But, the bottom line is, was supposed to be a funny video that captured a lot of the

stuff that I was hearing from people that were bashing Protools...

So, don't take it too seriously :-)

  • @techbreakfast As a matter of fact, I found this video hilariously funny :D

I'm just sayin' that you can achieve great sounding song in ANY DAW and none of them should be called "standard". I adore Logic, someone Abelton or Cubase, I have ProTools 9 as well but still I don't like being pushed to do projects in PT just because it is a "world standard" ...I mean, what does that mean anyway...

Bottom line....this movie is ridiculously funny XD

  • @Vanjal, If you're not in post-production sound - you have no idea what you're talking about. If a two screen edit / mix window that was designed for engineers who hate computers - is unfriendly for you - maybe you should go back to using a cassette 4 track :)

If you're writing/producing music - agreed - you can do anything and everything (and usually better) in Logic or Cubase.. but when dealing with large scale editorial and tv/film mixing.. it's there for a reason.

  • @dayingyang0 That is up for discussion: Something you dare call 'industry standard' is only that because people keep calling it that for no apparent reason. I have yet to see what makes your industry standards so good. I've worked with both, a lot, with that which is considered industry standard and that which isn't. My experience tells me it has nothing, really nothing, to do with the quality of the product, but it has everything to do with its users and usually their lack of talent.

  • Could ProTools make my 3-inch penis mad fatter?

  • Garageband is shit. Pro Tools, well, its like Sound Font Technology. I used to think that a computer with a creative sound card was a professional workstation for making music, since it can emulate recorded audio on MIDI, and you can compose music from there. Pro Tools is HD is just Sony Acid Pro running on a sound card, which IMO is the profess way. The best, really, is the Steinberg Products, Cakewalk and Sony Acid/Vegas Pro, with a professional $200 audio interface. Also FL Studio for beats.

  • @gwb911 Yeah, I wish mine was smaller so I could really go at it.

  • The whole SoundForge, Vegas Pro and additional tools are a lot better than Protools crashtest dummie HD. Protools is shit for apple-loving lunatics that don't know how to use hardware optimally.

  • It is sort of the "Microsoft monopoly" of audio production and will exploited accordingly.

  • PT HD is not cheap but it is the best. Recently switched from Logic 9 w/ Apogee Symphony.

  • @Rick883 wow that is one hell of an upgrade.

  • lmaooooooooo he doesnt have any speakers yet hahaha

  • That was funny, but i still think PT-HD is way overrated.

  • 30 years mixing FOH for real artist and this is funny stuff. These guys are killing it.

  • hahahaha

  • @mlizarr104 well . that's kind of the point now isn't it ? ;-)

  • Factually inaccurate and not actually funny! Brilliant!

  • Hilarious and accurate!

  • @star69trio Are you kidding me?

  • @MrPelicanPants No He isn't

  • yeah, you hear that crap a lot, good vid.

  • this video is fucking brilliant.

  • OMG I am so bored of these vids and want something really naughty

  • so boring..

  • I hate Pro Tools, but I thought this was hilarious!

  • ok.......I have little use for this....but it is funny XD oh or was this a promo for this xtra normal thing?
