  • (me again, sorry !)

Do you have any clearance issue with your D700 viewfinder when you do full shift up ?

  • @Alexvideoclip During full shift up it doesn't hit the viewfinder on my D300 and D700. It's REAL close but doesn't touch.

  • @Alexvideoclip this is normal on D700,mine happened it too. (But D3 can aviod it, dont know the D1,D2 series.)

  • What tripod do you use ?

I'm still thinking about buying that lens, but my backpack already weight at ton (well, almost).

I ordered the FX D800e so I may be able to use my 14-24mm f/2.8 strait level and then crop with photoshop to avoid bad perspectives (when shooting building).

I'm sure it won't be as good as your lens but I already have 4 lenses (including a 3kg 200mm f/2 VRII) and the weight is really an issue.

  • @Alexvideoclip I've been using a Manfrotto 055MF4 for years now. It's built like a tank and still works like it did when I first bought it :)

  • @macnfast That's what I thought, I have the 057+ball head

The Manfrotto that I already had (25 years old) did not match my 200mm f/2 !

  • Great review!

  • Nice video and great lens! Are you shooting full frame?

  • @NRGRX I have a Nikon D300 and D700 so one is cropped and the other is full frame. I usually use the D300 for telephoto use and the D700 for all other.

  • I agree with Alexvideoclip! .... Bad person indeed!

    Thanks for the video :-)

  • interesting, I'd never heard of it before.

  • Love, love, love it.

  • That lens is on my wish list! Awesome things it can do.

  • @Jasonpc66 I REALLY need to use it more :)

  • Thanks for the interesting video. I'd like to see more architectural photos taken at the correct angle (straight) and then with the tilt shift as that's why I'd think of buying one. I don't always have a set of step ladders on me!

  • You're a very bad person, after viewing your (great) video you make me want to buy the lens !

That remind me my photography scool with the Combo view cameras, but the Nikon's 24mm PC seems to be much more easy to use.

  • @Alexvideoclip HA! Thanks. Its definitely a fun lens.

  • very interesting, thanks

  • @robertokeywest Thank you for watching...

  • thank you very much for a good explanation and examples. /Mike in Sweden

  • 5:23 is Brilliant!

  • @tdude129 Thanks! The neat thing about this shot for me was the light in the windows was actually the sun shining through the oppisite side windows.

  • $2,000 lol... I need this.

  • @User6327 Yea, costs a lot. I want SO bad to pick up the 85mm Tilt/Shift lens too but the funds just arn't there yet. BOO!!!

  • Great tutorial! Thanks for all the info..makes me want to go out and get one too..lol

  • @maridmar34 ;^)

  • wow i love this lens

  • @salo200305 Me TOO! I like it So much I'm thinking about picking up the 85mm Tilt/Shift lens next. Should I? hmmm...

  • haha "I like it!"

Nice video dude. What tripod you got there?

  • @guspotable Thanks, The Tripod is a Manfrotto mod# 055MF4. It took me a while to get over the "sticker shock" but i'm SO glad I picked it up. This thing has been through some rough abuse over the years and is still like new.... I LIKE IT! ;)

  • great explanation, thanks!

  • @swartzfeger Thanks for watching :^)

  • pic @ 5:15 is superb!

  • @leewardstyle Thanks! When I took the shot, the closest branch at the top of the image was actually about an inch away from the lens!

  • Superb shots at the end, thanks for making me want this tilt shift lens

  • @birel101 Thanks. I was eyeballing this lens for quite some time before I got it. I'm happy I did.

  • I don't understand, Couldnt u just tilt the camer your self or raise the camera height for the same effect?

  • @GymMuch If you tilt the camera back, the lines of the thing your shooting would not be straight vertically. I really need to make a video that will show that :/

  • @macnfast So basically, it allows for complete symmentry when tilting the camera angle right for a nice effect?

  • what are the pricing on these types of lens? I have a D3100 as was interested in this stuff

  • @HFCHSvids $1500+

  • good job!

  • good demo, clear and precise! thanks.

    kYle

  • Finally a video that shows how the PC-E's work with some result photos. Excellent Shots at the end.

  • @leegorecki Thanks!

  • Fantastic. Nice vid man. Love the shot with the dog.

  • @DemonicGenocide Between you and me... Lucky shot :)

  • great lens, and helped me out! thnx!! have fun with it :)

  • wonderful tutorial, I am planning to get one of these lenses for canon mount.

  • can u please say, THEY TOOK OUR JOBS

(anyone who watches south park will know what i am on about)

  • @jonobonnowonno1 Unfortunately I dont watch the show. Hopefully it's a good thing?

  • @jonobonnowonno1 haha i thought someone would ask him to say that

  • @jonobonnowonno1 Dey tuk err jerbbbbs

  • Great movie :)

  • i like this dude!

  • @taurasuzanne Thanks!

  • Best pc-e youtube video. Great shots

  • Can you not just shift the tripod up to get the same effect?

  • @lg123xyz Unfortunately not. Their is such a radically different effect with this lens it cant be reproduced like that. Thats a good idea for a video though. Maybe I'll make a video comparing the two :)

  • @macnfast ok thanks you can clearly see the building is more aligned, I'd be curious if ever you do make a comparison video, to see if its possible to duplicate that look with a traditional non-shifting/tilting lens. Thanks!

  • you're hot!

  • Great video, Great Photos, Great Lens

  • Great shots

  • Great little tutorial. There's a real lack of good info on tilt shift lens technique on the net.

  • Irish?

  • English :)

  • also, did u get the lens recombobulated by 90 degrees so you can get rise/fall and tilt at the same time. instead of rise/fall and swing?

  • @pakuplue Didn't get the lens moved around. Not sure I will because I'm not sure I'll ever use it that way. I watched how it's done though. Fairly simple to do.

  • hey, i tried on of these out today at mikes camera on colorado blvd. and was wondering how exactly do you get everything in focus, because i have seen a video where the person tilt it and instead of everything getting into focus it went out of focus. so could you explain the working of making everything sharp?

  • @pakuplue Google "focusing-ts". Check out Luminous-landscape's tutorial (Should be First on Google's list). The best explanation I can find.

  • i'd love to see some movie shots with that lens. Great work anyway!!

  • I've seen some video's on YouTube that used this lens which are COOL looking. Unfortunately I don't have a camera that takes video yet. One day though...

  • awesome shots and great videos. keep them coming.

  • dear friend, a great lens and you take great photos too. good job.
