Islam means Submission.

All the prophets and messengers of God were Submitters to God (arabic: Muslim)

Thus they didn't need to follow the Quran to be submitters, since they already had their scriptures.

The Quran is simply the last revelation of God, it confirms the Torah, and the NT, and Jesus as the messiah (Quran 10:37 & 3:45-51)

God tells us that he is One, not in trinity (Deut. 6:4 and Quran 4:171-2)
