Guitar building achievements

One of Hamer Guitar's most famous pieces is an orange five-neck guitar built in 1981 for Rick Nielsen of the band Cheap Trick. This guitar was exhibited at the Boston Museum of Fine Art. Some of Dantzig's other designs were also featured in an exhibition at the Smithsonian Institution.

@probertfire - It's Nielsen, not Nielson. Usually the 'en' is Norwegian, vs. the Swedish "on", like Andersen vs. Anderson. Either way, it's Nielsen. Anway. Reminds me of the Austrailan interviewer that asked Rick if they were trying to be like Kiss. There was a momentary pause, but he didn't miss a beat "Uh, no, I don't think my tongue's as long as Gene's" (sticking out tongue). lol!

Kinda funny you mention that. I saw a pic in a magazine back in the 70's with Rick, Robin and Bun E. in the middle being propprd up by the other 2 wearing a pair of Paul Stanley's "Love Gun" era boots on.

And think about this...They both did 3 pretty crappy-sounding studio albums THEN did live albums that shot them into stardom...

Cheap trick definately had their own unique look. The lead guitarist looked like a geek the drummer looked like the local Burger King manager and of course Robin Zander and Tom Peterson were the heartthrobs of the group.
