Actually, it's the other way around. Black is the absence of all color, hence black holes. White is the abundance of all colors, hence a prism.

Well then, you mix all the colors in a palette together and try and get white. Let me know how that works out for you.

objects either reflect or absorb a color. in order to see a color, the object has to reflect that color. the "color" black actually absorbs all color instead of reflecting it, while white reflects all colors and doesn't absorb anything. the end.
