Was surprised that the argos price was cheaper than amazon, I also got a free juicemaster book with mine, who goes for amazon for £9, I'm going to sell mine to get a fiver out of it.. WINNING
hi, i sometimes recycle the pulp, like carrots. although the enzymes are gone, i still got its first juice, then eventually all of it. i sometimes make it 3 recycles then the dried pulp goes to my scrambled egg, isnt that nice? i have my "all" juice, then i have my "fibery" omelette. no to trash!
The video was great, but - don't get a Jack Lalanne Power Juicer!!!
I bought one, and it broke after I used it 6 times. I called the company and no matter how many times I paid the 29.99 shipping fee, the parts they promised never quite made it to me.
So basically now I'm stuck paying for a PowerJuicer that doesn't work, and recipes that I get charged for every month no matter how many times I call and cancel.
I just got mine for £30! Not the same one, but it looks very much the same. Same type of juicer, however mine doesn't have that froth filter :( which I'm quite gutted about, I want a froth filter now :'(
Guess I could buy one quite easily if I wanted, I'm sure they'll have something like that online. Can I ask, what do you normally juice? Do you have a daily routine?
Doesn't sound anything like an Australian! He's probably from North London or from home counties just outside London... there is a slight nasal twang and because the Aussies have a cockney accent with a smile and a squint... there are very very small similarities... but sounding 'like' and Australian? Not even close!
Don't you put the pulp into the recycling compost? or someone's garden? I cringe when I hear that someone is throwing food/pulp into the refuse. That's got to be a sin!
I just bought the same juicer, and yes it's fast and quit :) The bag idea was a good advice. I like my juicer but i think would recomend someone else a blender because it's easier to clean. But they are prob louder.
Hey, I have a really big question and you have a lot of people that comment on here so I'll probably send a message as well. But I'm looking for a juicer type of machine that can also deal with vegetables. If anyone knows of a good one then let me know. The main one so far that I'm looking at is the Jack Lalanne juicer but I know it can't do things like sweet potatoes or sticky-like fruits like bananas I think. But I'd really like your input seeing that you clearly know a lot about juicers.
....and Philips offer a weak 1 year warranty, which sucks! I suggest you check out the Omega juicers. Omega offers a full 10 or 15 years warranty, depending on the model u choose, that's the highest warranty in the juicing industry. yes, they are more expensive, but it will pay off in the long run!
Listen to what eujuicers [ DOT ] write about the Philips HR1861;
"The machine is only able to be used for 40 seconds as the motor is not strong enough to work longer. When we would give the manufacturer the machine back as a guarantee claim, the reply was always the same, that the machine was used for longer than 40 seconds. Our experience shows us that the majority of people that juice, will juice longer than 40 seconds at one time."
i wouldn't recommend that juicer. It produces relatively wet pulp, instead of dry dejuiced pulp.
Moreover, the engine tends to break and producer usually refuses to fulfil his warranty obligations telling clients they must have exceded the 40 second time limit while juicing.
I have this juicer - although it might be the model prior to yours. It is very good but I would love to trade up to a Breville. These are very good value though.
Don't spend money on an expensive juicer and a ton of fruit. You'll gonna spend a ton of money on this juicer, a ton of money on fruits that'll just end up rotting in your fridge, plus you'll have all the mess to clean up afterwards!
Just go to juiceberg's channel...they will hook you with awesome juice! My family is crazy about it. And it's a cheaper option without all the hassle and waste!
the breville juice fountain is the best juicer out there, 6k-12k rpms, loud as hell too, its 200-300$ new though.. I got a jacklalane power juicer, the informercial one lol... its only 3,500 rpm so juicing hard fruits like apples is alittle rough, but it is amazing for only 3-50$ monthly payments. its also whisper quiet, not even half as loud as this juicer in this video.
@kwaichi Id like to throw my vote in for the Omega Vrt330. Its about 360 dollars after shipping. Its the best juicer Ive ever had. I've had the cheapos, the infomercial juicers, and ive even had a breville juicer. I just like it the best. I get the most juice out of my produce. It may take a little longer because its a slow juicer i think 80rpms but it oxodizes less and the juice doesnt seperate and just tastes better.
@Collectro Jacks you have to screw in parts each time u use it and it's a pain in the a##!! I got rid of mine because of that...I don't want to have to assemble my juicer everytime I use it!!! If u want quick and easy DON'T get Jacks...
well, I was going to get the Waring juicer, but I heard it leaves a lot of pulp which means there is less juice. So...I decided to go with Breville BJE200XL 700-Watt Compact Juice Fountain.
@Silent13Assassin I don't know, I've never seen the Norwalk compared to another juicer so I can't say for sure if it has the least pulp but it sure looks to me that the pulp that it makes is pretty much as dry as it can get.
hi, thank you for putting this informative video up. I am thinking about buying a juicer this week and I was wondering which one to buy. I have seen the Jack Lalanne one advertised and it looks good but the reviews make it sound like many have electrical problems and don't last, any thoughts?
what about wasting all the real fruit & veggie fiber? I had a nice GM blender, I used to put; blue berries, black berries, apple, orange, grape fruit etc all in it and make a nice wholesome drink full of fruit fiber and some water I guess. Too bad it broke, the motor couldn't handle the daily workload
I found this very helpful! I didn't understand the differences between the centrifugal and the masticating juicers and I think you explained them extremely well. I can now make an informed purchase. Thank you.
It comes out pretty dry on most fruits. You certainly wouldn't get much more out the pulp if you tried squeezing with your bare hands. Some fruits fare better than others. The harder the fruit the drier the pulp normally.
@ewupawly You're not getting a good juicer for that amount. A good juicer would be the Omega 8006. It costs 300 bucks. it's the best juicer in that price range. I own this juicer & did some research on juicers before buying it.
Yes, they offer various models. Just do a search on Omega juicer and you will get the main website to come up and you will find several to choose from. Good Luck!
the jack lalanne juicer is really quiet, I use it almost every day and love it. I've only had one other juicer and it sucked, but this philips looks nice and i like the muli speed option. Nice review kwaichi, And HAPPY JUICING
Jack's juicers don't even compare to the Omega line. Omega has a much higher standard of quality built into their juicers. They also offer 10-20 year warranties depending on the juicer you purchase from them. They just came out with the VRT330 Omega stand up masticating juicer which has quickly taken the juicing market by storm. Do a search on it and watch youtube vids.
I had a jack lalanne, prepared my stuff, tuned it on and in the middle of jucing, it went pfff and stopped, never to run again. Customer service indicated that since it was almost a whole year old, it ran longer than most. Wish I had known that prior to purchase.
One thing that NEEDS to be mentioned with this juicer is that the small print in the instruction manual states that the juicer can only be used 40 seconds at a time. When you have a problem with the motor, be sure that Philips is going to tell you that you used the machine longer than 40 seconds. We have had countless complaints from people who have bought the machine elsewhere confirming this.
In addition, we were approached by Philips personally asking us to remove this info from our homepage to which we commented... remove this information from your instruction manual and we will gladly remove it from our homepage.
BTW...oxidaiton is only oxidizing down the phenolic compounds in fruits and vegetables. With the enzyme polyphenol oxidase, once you cut open a fruit or veg, this enzyme then has access to air and turns brown. contrary to popular belief this does not decrease the nutritional value of the food.
Hi, hey I got a few question about your juicer. Does the black thing on top of the juice jug have holes In It that might allow some splatter out while juicing? Also does that black thing stay on on the jug all the time? When the jug Is placed against the juicer Is It on there close enough that there won't be any chance of juice getting out? Also what Is the feed chute size of your juicer? Thanks, you did get my interest up in this juicer
no holes in lid. the black lid is easily removable for the dishwasher. There is no chance of the juicer spitting with the jug provided. The juicer is now available from my store too :) The link is in the description
Its time someone applied some science to the whole Juice tihng.
The food is not going to exidize away during the juicing period.
It also has to come into contact with oxygen to oxidize, this means that the only thing going to oxidize in the juic eis the top layer touching open air.
@headphones222 your body uses more energy to consume it if it's full of oxygen. If it's pressed then squeezed that doesn't happen because the nutrients of the juice go into your blood just as fast as alcohol.
it is so big :( and propably you can use this machine to cut and another?? a i have 3 diferent juice machine and all is so big, if i want only little juice, like every day, i am to lazy to use this large machine and clean them, and this is so big asweal
The pulp makes great compost, if you're into that kind of thing. My mom got me the Jack Lelanne juicer and it's very similar to this. It works nicely for green juices as well. These types of machines are so much easier to clean than the other types.
Next time cut down on the fucking Yapping and "SHOW ME" how the machine actually works.

centrifugal juicers are obsolete.
1. they are very noisy
2. the centrifugal heat ruins the juice and giving it a bad after-taste.
3. centrifugal juicers are NOT faster than fx a Hurom (masticating juicer)
...buy a masticating juicer like Hurom!

I noticed that too when I got it. Costco are demonstrating a juicer atm which can be on constantly for 40 minutes

what model of juicer did you buy?
I can't find phillips 1871 online. all of searches come up with phillips 1861.
is it the one kwaichi meant?
danrmaz 2 years ago
1871 is sold in some stores. Online it's 1861. It's the same juicer and you can get the best price from the link in my description :)

Thanks, you did get my interest up in this juicer
dumbbellxp 2 years ago
no holes in lid. the black lid is easily removable for the dishwasher. There is no chance of the juicer spitting with the jug provided. The juicer is now available from my store too :) The link is in the description

Norwalk FTW, this oxidizes the food the Norwalk doesn't.

thanks for the advice

you're welcome. :-)

Its time someone applied some science to the whole Juice tihng.
The food is not going to exidize away during the juicing period.
It also has to come into contact with oxygen to oxidize, this means that the only thing going to oxidize in the juic eis the top layer touching open air.
headphones222 2 years ago
@headphones222 I'm saying that the Norwalk is better because there's no oxygen added into the juice (the Norwalk is not centrifugal, it's a press)
joeb0 2 years ago
yeah but you dont loose any nutrients anyway.
headphones222 2 years ago
@headphones222 your body uses more energy to consume it if it's full of oxygen. If it's pressed then squeezed that doesn't happen because the nutrients of the juice go into your blood just as fast as alcohol.
joeb0 2 years ago
what do you mean just as fast as alcohol??
No way are nutrients just as short molecules as alcohol, that is not true about the absorbtion thing.
Also oxygen content makes no differance, the speed it is absorbed into the body makes no differance really.

it is so big :( and propably you can use this machine to cut and another?? a i have 3 diferent juice machine and all is so big, if i want only little juice, like every day, i am to lazy to use this large machine and clean them, and this is so big asweal

having a dishwasher is definitely a winner :)

omega is the only juicer to buy. masticating juicers dont cause froth, which is a waste of food. centrifugal juicers are just a waste of everything.

Advice, kind comment
When you make a video about a Machine
you need to show each thing you are doing not
just talking. You need to show and Tell and
not put your face in the video.only the machine
and your voice will be heard when making your
video. People will understand more about the
machine if you take this advice.

i have done since this video was made over 2 years ago. check out the other reviews.

Omg! You ramble on and on and on but we don't get to see any fruit being juiced at the end! YOU SUCK A-HOLE!
Winter077 2 years ago
you wouldn't be able to hear me over the noise of the machine.

KwaiChi! Twin gear is not fast! It's damn slow. It might have slightly better yield. Better stick with your Philips.

The pulp makes great compost, if you're into that kind of thing. My mom got me the Jack Lelanne juicer and it's very similar to this. It works nicely for green juices as well. These types of machines are so much easier to clean than the other types.
cheers.
