@healyc apparently there was a malfunction in the timing system and everyone's times were two seconds faster in this race. 1.39.2 is still really fast tho
@healyc i got the same exact time on my clock too. and if you look kind of behind the flags you can see it says he takes it out in a 21.. i got a 23.3.
@qoak10 The video compression on YouTube makes the video play at a different frame rate, therefore speed. I'm the swimmer in the video, I know what time I swam. I swam those kids of times in many pools including Harvard, Minnesota, Boston University. Are all those clocks wrong too??
I heard the state record for California right now is 1:39. And you cut that by 4 seconds? (You said at your Conference meet). That's incredible! I'm a 10'th grader in High School, and i have been swimming the 200. I'm at 2:05 right now. :P I started the season a month ago with 2:14.
My brother swam a 1:48 the other week, and he is my muse to swim. He was swimming a :47 100y free when he graduated from high school, but you broke that here easily.
Wow dude 1:37? Thats Crazy! Last year when I was in Eighth Grade i got a 1:59 at sectionals. My fastest so far this year is a 2:03 but Ive only swam it once.
You have a really good kick.. And 1:37.6 is a damn good time. I assume since that wasnt a very big meet that, that wasnt your best time either... Whats your top itme?
wow... some fast swimming right there.... how do you only take like 12 strokes per length??? you look so long like your not even trying... Do you use the EVF position that everyones starting to do??or straight arm pull or S curve?
My coach and I really worked on stroke efficiency a load. I watched a lot of tape on Ian Thorpe and Grant Hackett, they both used the EVF very very well. If you watch them you can also see that they have a 'front quadrant' technique - it's almost like a catch-up stroke, so you glide more.
i'm having trouble breaking :50 in the 100 free and 1:50 in the 200 free... is stroke technique wut i should be working on or work even more on conditioning? I need help.I swam today: 100 free-50.30 200 free 1:52.60 i need to drop down to a 1:45 to make it to state or a :47 in my 100 free any tips?
make sure that when you breathe you're not driving your left shoulder into the water due to the hiccup in your stroke, keep your left arm up more so your hips won't sink
dude nice swim, i don't care what everyone else says about the "clock malfunction", its an impressive swim

If you time the video my watch says you went a 1.39.2. Perhaps there was a malfunction in the clock...
healyc 1 year ago 2
or you have terrible timing...

What are some of your favorite drills for getting that kind of catch?
flurpo 2 years ago
How do you get that catch?
flurpo 2 years ago
Good shoulder flexibility! Keep the elbow high and pointing to the side or even UP during the catch...

wow 1:37.6 is pretty fast for only wearing a speedo

They look like they are swimming so slow too. It only takes him 12 strokes to complete a length though.
