  • I flinch when he started playing the C sharp. So out of tune.

But hey, it's helpful for beginners!

  • @TheMasterSax lol impressive. but i didnt start with alto or tenor. i went straight to bari in 6th grade. im in 7th now and im best sax player in my class. and also whats up with the rag by the bell

  • thats an old sax

  • what number reed are you using?? just wondering

  • what reed are you using?

  • dude im not trying to be an ass man and im not trying to sound like im a profesional but please tune that c sharp man i appreciate what ur doing though by trying to teach through you tube and geting music and education out into the world keep doing what ur doing man but please purchase a tuner

  • most of the time you wouldn't play a bari with no experiances in saxophones at all. not to say it hasn't happend because it prolly has. but most of the time people start at alto and move up a saxophone like tenor then bari. im in beginer band but im prolly the best in my band so band director put me on bari did'nt have to go through tenor. but i love the bari. ill be getting a soprano soon.

  • please put inside your sax 4 beers and after play again this but becareful ,dont fart !!!

  • you play ship Air-horn !!!!

  • I come on these, just to laugh

  • 1:43 could be a constipation commercial!

  • how many sax players watched this then thought of ten things he was wrong about and was reminded of fifth grade?

  • how many sax players watched this then thought of ten things he was wrong about and was reminded of fifth grade.

  • HE SOUNDS SO GROSS. and who is he trying to teach? no one learns an instrument through youtube...who is he kidding?

  • WTF Im in 7th grade and!i have a better tone! Nice super flat c#

  • This man deserves 1 internet's worth of trolls.

  • lol

  • he has no idea what hes talking about.

  • what the hell kind of embouchure is that? i never saw his teeth touch the mouthpiece. idiotttttt!

  • Lisa Simpson can be a better teacher than these guy.

  • @estesoyojajaja she would be a good teacher. shed be a eipic teacher

  • @UntamedArab Hmm.... Alsoooo.... I've been playing many instruments for quite a number of years too.. Shouldn't i know either? xD Just saying, it only means that everyone will always have more to learn even if they know a lot already. (x I was just sharing what i was taught, but it doesn't mean i'm not a long way from knowing the bari like the back of my hand. My tutor told me there's loadsss more to learn~ (x

  • @UntamedArab You're right~! (; But you can tell if one's inhaling is right or not by the way they sound when they inhale. Ahhh.. I dunno how to explain, but i think it'd be easier to comprehend with a tutor.. I know it's wrong simply cause my school conductress told us (my band mates and i) to inhale properly so that we'd have a bigger air support and majority of us did what he did. She told us that that's not the way to do it and provided some long-as-heck explanation why~

  • After watching this video I had one thought... THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID

  • @Monsterbusterclub1 LMAOOO!!

  • @codaddict648 Niceee. :D Altos and tenors are fun to play, too! But since i like bass-sounding instruments, i prefer the bari more than the other two. Doesn't change my love for saxes tho! :D <3

  • Are you a real bari player?

Cause for a supposed professional saxophonist, your tone doesn't sound really good and you teach like an amateur.....

You shouldn't inhale the way you did at 2:03. What if a beginner bari player watches this and imitates it? =_= That's not right...

  • @Laura180594 the guy works for EXPERTvillage, what did you expected from those guys.

    :)

  • LoL... He licks the mouthpiece b4 he blows on it

  • @TrenTonStackZ We do it to wet the reed if it's too dry to play... Tho the way he does it looks really funny for some reason... ((x

  • Was that a c sharp? Or am o thinking alto sax

  • @codaddict648 its c sharp

  • @shmikens so the alto and bari are alike right?

  • @codaddict648 They are. :D Both are E-flat instruments. Just that one's higher sounding and lighter and the other's lower sounding and heeeavier. D: I hate the weight. xD But it's awesome-soudingg! :D

  • @Laura180594 Yea ive noticed that when my director gave me an Alto song sheet when i was supposed to be playing the bari :) But most of the time i play the alto and occasionaly the tenor for certain songs

  • he has marching reeds

  • great! bravo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh my god!!!! You don't know what are you talking about, your tone sucks and you look stupid while playing.

2:03 That's not the way to breathe.

    Don't copy him !!!

  • 1:50 lol

  • No saxophone mouthpiece is going to be even up and down with the horn, do to the simple fact that you play the Sax ON YOUR SIDE!! it's going to be turned at an angle so that your HEAD is even with the horn, not the mouthpiece! EPIC FAIL!!

  • @zhamilton91 i agree completely. plus. thats an ugly ass bari (:

  • @zhamilton91 Professional saxophone players play with their sax centered kid, learn something about music before you talk shit.

  • @Nopulse1337 this is true... for the Soprano sax and occasionally Alto sax. Tenor sax and lower are meant for the side: a) due to size; b) due to weight; c) normally aren't using a metal stand to hold their instruments. I know about music, so im talking shit. ^_^

  • @Nopulse1337 is that how you hold a bari sax when your sitting. i have not seen one pro bari player sitting playing with the bari between there legs. correct me if i am wrong.

  • @hondarideralex I don't play bari like that, but I do play alto like that. He used the general term "saxophone" rather than "baritone saxophone." Even though it was implied, I like making fun of people.

  • @Nopulse1337 Thank God i remember reading this. I was about to correct (Sorry if this sounds cocky, it's not my intention to make it sound thatawayy) your comment about professional sax players playing with their saxes centered since it's difficult for tenor and bari players to do it and it's the wrong posture for them too.. ((x Heehee~ (:

  • Damn c#'s

  • my band director tells me i play with bitch air. lol

  • I started today,I've been playing alto 3yrs now. Major Diffrence.(not the fingerings but the need of breath supply)

  • you should of said that the note was c sharp

  • i think bari sax is easy to learn if youve been playng alto for a while

  • ha the bari stand is so awkward.

and all saxes have the same fingerings generally, I think.

  • alto bari and every single sax have the same fingerings. they have different pitches pacober1

  • You don't want to put a bunch of cork grease on it. You only want a little bit. You need to loosen your embouchure. That sound NEEDS to be lower!!!

  • @DANCERBOY102 I also think that it's where his mouthpiece is; he probably didn't waste time tuning. It's shoved like way onto the neck.

  • LOL! -screeeech-

    ...

thats not a noise, well it is a noise, its the WRONG noise

    ROFL!!

  • In my music class, my bari sax is way bigger than that, and much much deeper.

It doesn't have that 'hammer' thing like this one does

Mine is amlost the size of me. xD

  • i play tenor sax

  • For the win

  • Mr. Erickson, I just love that baritone sound. I'm so very happy the way you teach us how play, how does it suppose to sound, and i'm just thrilled how you handle things. Of course I'm an instrumental musician myself, when did you start playing the saxophone?

  • Comment removed

  • yes, if you can play one sax, you can play all, the only difference is size, sound and key

  • no, Tenor and soprano saxes are tuned in b flat where as alto and baritone are tuned to e flat

  • you can still play it though, just the pitch is different so you have to transpose the music.

  • alto and bari are the same fingering, tenor is not

  • no, it's not. i play soprano, alto, tenor, and bari. i only ever learned one set of fingerings.

  • @Pacober1 All saxophones have the same fingering, they're just in different keys.

  • I'm pretty sure the fingering is all the same

  • ok, what i meant originally was that to play the same note on a bari and a tenor you have to have different fingerings, they are in different keys. why so technical?

  • because you said the fingerings were different and technically they aren't. You read and finger the same way. You should have said different keys, not fingerings.

  • why does he have a towel over it he said in an early session it was a king so wats the deal wit da towel

  • no idea

  • My guess is that he put the towel between the horn and the stand to avoid scratching the bell.

  • He sounds awful. No better than a stuffy foghorn. Is that a bad dent in the upper coiled portion ? (from 1:00 to 1:15). Horn may have been dropped to the left side. But I doubt that accounts for his awful tone.

  • 1:43 LOOK AT HIS FUCKING FACE!!!!! xD

  • @TheSpiderKenny lol... I saw the face, freaked out, looked down, and saw this comment.

  • @TheSpiderKenny i know where i have to put my hand! XD

  • bari sax is the best out of all. especially the jupiter

  • this guy really doesn't explain much at all- not even how to hold your umbichure (sorry I can't spell). Baris are amazing, but this one sounds awful, because of the way he plays it. Decent baris (unlike this one) usually costs over 2 or 3 grand, buts it worth it. Sopranos and tenors are amazing. Altos are also amazing, but only if you get the more professional ones- the beginner or cheaper ones sound a bit to fuzzy/reedy and are more likely to squeak- but they still sound great :)

  • Meh this guy knows nothing lol

  • Lazer? This guy has no idea what he's talking about, and should start taking lessons before he considers calling himself an expert. Not informative at all. Boo.

  • what a douche

  • This guy sucks honestly he dosent even tell you how to play it he just says k so u have to learn this this this and that and in order to PLAY the bari sax you have to do this and then their u go

he dosent even explain how to do it <_<

  • he can't play himself so he really can't explain how to do it

  • You spelt saxophone wrong. That's my point

  • i play the trombone, but i want to switch over to the bari sax. i found this video helpful thank you very much!

  • OMG YESS! :) Bari is AMAZING :) best saxophone ever :D

  • i dont know about best sax EVER?!?!?!! but i luv them! they have such a big bold sound i dont know how any one could go with out liking this giant sax!

  • lol kay maybe not the best EVER. tenors pretty amazing too, and alto just is wow, but bari is definitely a big deal :) the band is built from the bottom up :D

  • i luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuv the tenor!!!!!! i really like the bari, but i HATE THE ALTO!!!!!!!!! i think it is a weenie instrument, and doesnt deserve to be called "saxaphone"! i am sorry if that affends you, but thats wat i think... :)

  • You're absolutely right. The alto deserves to be called a saxOphone. =)

  • your name doesnt really match with your point........ i dont get it.........

  • lol he means theres no such thing as a saxAphone, its spelt saxOphone :P

tenor has an amazing sound, especially when played by a pro. but i must say altos really not ALL that horrible, i just find its a reedy sound you know? baris just <3 though :D

  • i'm confused why he calls himslef an expert....i love when he goes "laser".....so pointles

  • you really suck !!!!!!!!!

  • gotta love that squeak

  • dont put a lot of cork grease cuz the cork gets fucked up

  • god his tone sucks

  • yea it does

  • um wow these comments are very interesting.lol

  • They probably care more about the bari and contrabass saxes more than any other. Nice going, asshole.

  • Hey asshead, this instrument may be low, but in a band, it makes alto look good. Think before you speak, dickwad.

  • not to be mean or anything but without the low voices like bass clarinets or tubas or Bari sax's the band sounds bad.

  • the reason why the sound from the bari sounded bad was because he needs to tune the horn for it to sound good

  • hey guy thanks for the good tips for my bari

  • sound is REALLY bad

  • How dinted is that sax?

    it's needs the bin!

  • That sax is an old beast lol

  • The average baritone saxophone is a particularly old instrument. This is a result of their costliness. Because they're so expensive, they tend to be used as long as possible, being past down from player to player.

  • But there are baritones for $500

  • still more expensive than your average instrument

  • well , maybe

  • ok either you're thinking of the worng instrument, or the saxaphones you're buying are pieces of shit, most good bari saxes reatil for 3-6 grand

  • worng instrument??

    reatil??

    my God,

You better learn to post first

  • ok, so instead of actually looking at my comment, you focus on my typing, i think you need a lesson in priorities

  • Very good!! you are now typing very well my friend

  • why thank you very much

  • that c# is flat

  • nice c sharp

  • yea, almost all the king super 20 baris have the neck octaves. i wish they all did

  • Hardly any baritones have the octave mechanism on the neck. I find this peculiar.

  • Actually, most vintage baris have neck octave keys.

  • yeah the older baris tend to have them, the newer yamahas dont have them on the neck.
