Don't sweat it, Kris. You have permission to butcher "Virginia" to meet your needs. As a songwriter I understand that each performer must mold a piece to match their persona. Frankly, I'd be a bit disappointed if you simply sounded like me! Feel free to alter the rhythmic, melodic and even lyrical content if need be. Anything you do will only elevate "Virginia". It's really not one of my favorite songs so consider it merely a platform.

It's both You and your Father acknowledging/excusing your differences, then posing the question, "Will you follow me into my world/craft" as well as "Do you understand me?". Thanks for noticing, Kris. I have so many songs to record and seemingly no time! Also, I will be undergoing an operation on my right hand. I have trigger finger on my pinky which causes it to lock in a curled position. It's no big deal; I had the same surgery about 12 years ago for my left hand and it is fine.
