  • This is really brilliant. Do you get any problems with gas making it's way back to the filter? I guess not as it would to go downhill. Nice job anyway.

  • What does a co2 diffuser do?Plz answer

  • Diffusing CO2 in the water...

  • @tytubapl NoNo!...I mean what do U use in it?Baking soda 'n' vinegar?

  • something like that...

  • @tytubapl Or yeast?

  • @Prashmash obviously not baking soda and vinegar, its sugar ,water and yeast

  • Plants still look like crap, so you are doing something wrong :(

  • It is living tank. Not just show-tank for customers in the pet shop. You follow?

  • @tytubapl

I follow you, but i honestly don't care what you are using this tank for. I was pointing out that you got a crappy looking tank despite your CO2 installation. You are doing something wrong..... you follow me?

  • hi man! i hav DIY CO2 similer to do this. and im putting alot of CO2, but u seem to be putting way more then me, my qustion is how is ur fish living in there? cus i put a fish in my 10 gallon tank and he had to come to surface, or die. plz respond thnks!

  • Hi tytubapl !

What are the specs of the powerhead you use? I'm mainly intrested in the liter/hour data.

Isn't it very loud how the powerhead breaks the bubbles in smaller bubbles? I used to do so, but had to connect the co2 tube to the outflow of my powerhead, because the noise annoyed me at night.

  • nice pearling at the end

  • dude pls. post vid. on how to create like that.. tnx

  • please make a tutorial!!!

Yours is probably the best homemade one I have seen!!!

  • what does c02 diffuser do?

  • Yo! Diffuser is mixing CO2 gas and water much more effective than usual way used in aquarium like stone or wooden cubes. It works like a water powered blender, breaking the gas bubbles to smaller and smaller. Than the smallest bubbles in milions of pieces have got much more contact surface water-gas and the absorbtion is very fast and effective. In effect the CO2 level in aquarium is higher and quicker, less gas consumption, plants more happy, fish - I didn't ask but no bad bahavior about it.

  • Maybe I can explain it even better as I had the same problem figuring out how this works:

Gaseous CO2 is let in to the intake of the powerhead, the powerhead then cuts this gas bubble into a lot of tiny bubbles, these enter together with the outflow of water into the bottle which makes sure no gaseous CO2 escapes while dissolved CO2 flows out in the water that flows out of the bottle. If you let CO2 bubbles out of your airline under the intake of the powerhead they get sucked in leadin to this.

  • this is by far the best DIY CO2 diffuser i have ever seen. however, it is not very aesthetic.

    overall, GREAT JOB.

  • wow!, thats working really well! credit to ya

  • Why have my bubbles stopped coming from the co2 generator? The bottles are air tight. Does the generator have to sit above the tank. This seems to be the only way it works for me. Anybody got any ideas?

  • How long ago you have started it? You may need to refresh sugar & yeast. Normally it can work for 7-14 days only for 2 liters bottle.

  • Thanks, I've had a bit more success with the co2. My living room temp wasn't very warm so I wrapped the bottles with insulation. This helped a bit but then, after a while, the bubbles would slow down. I decided to try keep the mixture at a constant temp. Now I have both bottles emersed in a small contaier of water with a 25w heater keeping the surrounding water 32-35 degrees C. The output has been much better and I now replace both mixtures weekly to keep co2 levels as consistent as possible.

  • awesome video man..

    fantastic!

  • co2 is supposed to low the pH level not to increase it! so this is only bad if u have some high-ph living fishes

  • thats right but too high co2 lvls can be toxic! so be carefull it should be around 15

  • too much Co2 causes the pH lvl in water to raise and too much of this might kill certain fish species

  • Pretty sure it lowers the PH via Carbonic Acid.....

  • This is ingenius. However, how do you regulate it? I have a tendency to put too much Co2 into my tank.

  • you can never have too much co2 in your tank

  • lol I don't think the fish would agree with that.

  • Let's see when they die quicker with or without co2 ;)

  • how do you make it

  • bottle / powerhead , co2 pump rdy
