This is ridiculously glued to my childhood. It's terrible, but still evokes the most ridiculous happy memories and gleeful joy from this child buried somewhere in my brain. I didn't even get the double entendres or lyrics like "No more minor key" at the time, so seeing it again recently as a grown up provided a whole other layer of enjoyment.

@emymummy around Victoria, The main house is in Werribee, its called Werribee Mansion. Everytime i go there, i always sing songs from the film, and yes, i do "give me a happy ending" to the disgust of my friends i am with....the beach scenes are along the Great Ocean Road also in victoria.

It was funny to see Maggie Kirkpatrick in this movie, She was such a bitch on Prisoner Cell Block H as Joan the Freak Ferguson. It was refreshing to see her in this movie.

Based on the opera Pirates of Penzance and the broadway adaptation Pirates. Totally corny movie but I loved it as a child.

that was the description I was looking for and glad someone could point that out. May have been a corny parody, but to a kid the movie was an adventure. To an adult, it make bring back some kid memories, but since then I passed that DVD on to a friend of mine.

to people that haven't seen the movie or didn't grow up around the time it came out, then it would seem very pathetic, but you have to look at the fact that this movie was nothing but one big musical parody with some top name actors/actresses and shot in Austrailia.
