Fucken impressive man, I can only do that for 2 reps... My quads and lungs are burning just watching that. You ever do giant sets? I could imagine you being able to pump them out with some impressive weight.
Olympic style squat. Knees come forward beyond toes. I try to keep knees and ass back and break at hips. I presume your form works for you. Any thoughts on difference appreciated.

Wow,....that take some serious guts to go after that set as you did.. Someone gave me this link and I had to see if a natural lifter at your bodyweight could HIT 20 reps at 355 with no knee wraps. That was stunning. Been there done that,...but no where near 355 lbs. Awesome set Bastion. Most people simply can't comprehend how much 1 set like that will train the entire system of the body.
@MultiTrollHunter Just proving my point for me there, thanks. I have no desire to be a brainless meathed like you probably are, I only dabble in weights I admit. But at least im not a c**t, something you are stuck with.
@CIMALord I love how all you pinheads hide your jealousy by trying to insult bodybuilders. Most pro's have graduated from university and do you really think a moron would be able to master a strict, effective training schedual and diet? Stop hating and start training if you are that insecure.
@MultiTrollHunter I do train, in martial arts, weights are just on the side. And I admire the dedication and single mindedness of the bodybuilder. Just not the ones with the twattish attitudes. Like you apparently.
I have never done box squats. Sometimes I do a similar thing, where at the bottom of each rep I do a complete, motionless bottom-out for several seconds before beginning the ascent. I don't know if this has any special benefit; it just feels good.
Awesome man, very very very impressive. I hope to someday get somewhere near that level =-D And as for all the feuding, I think that comes with the sport. Bodybuilding is not a team sport, therefore it lacks in sportsmanship and lacks verily heavily in teamwork. It's all about individualism, and since virtually every other practitioner of the sport is a potential competitor...well needless to say all negative comments should be expected. Great work man!
When you say you're drug free, do you count any type of supplements? I would never take steroids either, (poisoning my body for the sake of keeping a high ego ain't worth it) but I have found that whey protein shakes help me recover. How do you feel about that, and stuff like creatine?
@scottbarbell Well, there's a thing called 'pacing yourself' (you might want to ask your girlfriend about it) Sorry not to have met your expectations for impressiveness.
wot u would get the most out of it if u rep em out not stood there resting to long yer its fine when u cant do anymore reps u should reserch training before trying to think u r right and im not here to argue just fucken take the comments or just take the vid off if u cant take it fucken loser
@scottbarbell - I notice that you've posted a vid of yourself "repping em out" at 355 scott. I haven't bothered looking for your previous comment as I'm sure it's bollocks also. Forgive me if it's a great insight from one of the greatest strength training gurus of the twenty first century but I'm guessing it ain't. Peace!
(As a matter of fact, I had better sets than this in college, too! But I have the decency not to go around on other people's channels boasting about and calling them names.)
Way to pound out those tough reps man. Once amonth I like to do a set of 20 reps for my last set of squats. It makes my knees hurt just watching though. I hurt my quad tendon couple weeks ago on the hack squat. Ouch! Anyways keep up the good work.
good lift man and this isnt a wast of time 20 reps like this have there purpose trust me and i think you know to get can be just as hard if you went with a heavy weight nice last rep love it man that shows your colors great lifting stay natural from another natural
Not only is this impressive because it's 20 reps of 355 pounds, but look at the bar position: It's Olympic-style high-bar squats. This is significantly more difficult than the low-bar Starting Strength style. Very impressive!
As for people complaining that his knees SLIGHTLY collapse into valgus - this is a 20 rep set. Minor form breakdowns are to be expected and should not be complained about.
I did 315 for 20 the other day fairly easy ass to calve.I weigh 245 so I know that`s not very strong,I`m hoping to build up to atleast 30 reps soon with that ...Great job squatting, your video`s are among my favorites on here.
hey, man! great f'n job! out of all of the 20 rep squat videos i've watched, you have the absolute BEST form. chin is just a teeny bit high, but you can barely notice it unless you're totally anal. again, great job. very impressive.
hey not bad, Only person I know that can top this is my one of my throwing buddies who is going off to stanford to throw this year, and his max is 550-560
Of course you still look like a hippy. Get a haircut!
Bastionhead....let me ask you a question here and please don't take it as an insult/cheap shot. I definately respect what you do. You're bigger, stronger and much leaner than me! Here it goes: You're doing 355x20 here and going DEEP. That's a serious feat. The Jesse Marunde video only has him doing 52 lbs. more and he didn't even go as deep as you. But being able to do such a serious 20 rep set shouldn't you have a lot more mass...230-240 lbs? Or are the claims in Super Squats inaccuarte?
Good question, but all I can say is that whatever mass I have is clearly sufficient to do the work! I guess from my perspective I'm wondering why Marunde (RIP), at ~280lbs, isn't squatting 505lbs x 20.
The reason I ask is because I'm giving 20 rep squats a try (again) with the hopes of gaining SOME mass. I know the results are not going to be anything like what the book claims.....even with steroids 30 lbs. in 6 weeks would be a stretch. I just hope that if I do a full 6 week cycle I can get SOMETHING. Doing 20 rep squats with a heavy enough weight truely is like being in hell. I just hope I'll get something for my pain. BTW....what's you best single in the squat?
I've never done a 1RM, but I got 495 for a double at the end of a workout when I was at my all-time strongest a few years back.
If I may, I would caution you against doing your 20-rep squats too frequently. I generally need at least 10 full days between squat workouts, 12-14 days being optimal.
marunde's video showed him doing that set at the end of an already brutal workout. and gaining mass depends on how much you're eating. it's like building a house, if you've got tons of wood and bricks you can make a huge sturdy house with hard work. if less material, then a smaller sturdy house with hard work. but with no hard work, you've just got a pile of wood and bricks
I checked out your channel. You are a strong guy, but you are also borderline obese.
If a strongman can chide a bodybuilder for not being strong, then it's only fair that a bodybuilder can chide a strongman for having a physique like a prize swine, no?
BTW, please feel free to post videos of yourself squatting 1.8 times your bodyweight for 20 reps.
dude you dont need roids. jus cuz u only have 1 life. u nvr know either. this could be my 10th life w/o ever knowing it. roids r for cheaters. If you TAKE ROIDS AND DONT GO INTO COMPETITION OR BRAG ABOUT HOW MUCH U BENCH SQUAT DEADLIFT, ECT.. its ok to do them. But if your gonna compete in any way or brag about how ur better than someone or tell people about your bench than ur cheating.
man i dont know how you can do that without that blue thing that helps it rest on your back. ive tried and even with light weight it hurts my neck pretty bad
Thats pretty good..but im %100 sure your legs would be much bigger if you banged the reps out quicker instead of resting so long at the top of each rep which is waaaaay is easier....by resting at the top too long your not really stressing the legs that much but more your knees and lower back....which explains why your legs arent really that big for the weight your using.Next time rep it out without locking out and for sure you will get less reps....BUT your legs will grow much faster.
I have the experience to know your claim is pure bullshit, and can therefore guarantee you will never post a video of your squatting. Go get an education under the bar, dingdong.
If you rep out faster and fail quicker, you will have deprived yourself of the most beneficial part of the set, which is the several delicious, agonizing, slow reps at the end. (You don't have the stomach for that.)
My legs "arent really that big" because I don't use anabolics. If a 26+ inch thigh isn't that big.
If you rep it out its waaaay harder..but obviously YOU dont have the stomach for that ..instead you keep standing there for 5 to 10 seconds at the top of each rep...hence the reason you have no legs....if you think its not so hard repping it out then do 20 reps in a row non stop....after doing sets of leg extensions first like i do..and yes a 26 inch thigh is small..why would you think thats big?Mine were 24.5 before i even touched a weight..now there 29.5..and yes i do use juice, why waste time
why don't you try and lift weights WITH steroids? and quit wasting time.Look at the guy in this video...does he look like anything special?.If i saw him on the street i wouldnt even think he works out.
You can tell he works out. You are comparing him to people that are on drugs. You have the wrong metallity. The people that are on steroids wouldn't look the way they do if they never used steroids. So what does that tell you...the only reason they are bigger and stronger is because of the drugs. That's not very impressive to me. It's not like BASTIONHEAD doesn't work out...he doesn't "cheat" by using steroids. What BASTIONHEAD does is more impressive, it's ALL him!
You can?....what you said is partially true..but before i used juice i already did a 555lb squat with no wraps, a 563lb deadlift with no straps, just chalk and a 420lb bench after doing my incline bench work first all naturally....BUT to take things to the next level and compete you HAVE to use juice or else you will just get left behind...and you have to remember its what you look like that matters at the show not what you ethical principals are when it comes to the topic of juice..
He CHOOSES not to use steroids. You CHOOSE to use steroids. I think BASTIONHEAD made the better CHOICE. You don't HAVE to use steroids, you CHOOSE to use steroids. You should have stayed natural and not worried about what people would think of you because you didn't start doing drugs. All the "gains" that you got AFTER using the steroids should NOT count, you had "help".
You cant compete against other people that are on drugs unless you get on them too....i placed 4th at the 2004 USA....if i hadnt used juice i wouldnt have even made the top 15...everybody at the show was on something so its an equal playing field...its only cheating if your using something and competing against a natural person...and let me tell you all these people like skip lacouer who claim to natural have used juice aswell sometime in their career.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
To natural people it IS cheating. Also, most people that use steroids never admit or talk about them. You could have said, "If I have to use steroids to keep up with these guys, I just won't compete at a contest where people are using steroids, because I'm not going to resort to that."
but i did resort to it....you only live once so you might aswell try everything....and anyway im not on them all year...i cycle them..usually 4 months on 2 months off
I wouldn't waste my life away using drugs. My life means much more to me then that. I want to take care of my body because I only live once. I have integrity.
Probably because i did those lifts over 10 years ago chump....you seem to think because you have a video you must be stronger than everyone else hahahaha...buddy the legs on my kitchen table are bigger than yours.
The video above is proof of the existence of my 26+ inch thighs and the work that produced them.
It is not proof that I have not tried the method you recommend, however. I have tried fast-cadence sets (which of course necessitates lower weight) and found them to be fairly useless--and quite easy compared to what you see here. Nevertheless--notice I am smiling and laughing just after racking the bar? That's because I love hard work. BTW, the chump is the guy with no videos.
bullshit...repping it out is harder. You even admitted that by saying you had to use a lower weight....if it was easier you would be using a higher weight or at least the same....ive done it both ways and repping it out is harder...not just on squats but also on leg press and hack squats....and as for the weight thats just a means to an end anyway..its HOW the exercise is peformed..like pushing from the heel not the ball of the foot, feet positioning, doing leg extensions first, not locking out etc.
i bet anything you didnt do leg extensions first before these squats did you?....Yes.. if you do the extsnsions first you wont be able to use as much weight when do squats or leg press after BUT your legs will be doing all the work and will grow faster....hence the reason almost every single pro starts with the extensions first.Ive done it both ways and doing the extensions first improves your legs waaaay quicker...than simply piling weight on and doing squats first...leave the ego at the door.
Actually, Nostradamus, I did do leg extensions first! And as long as you're on the juice, any type of training will give you good results. That is in fact why anabolics are so popular--they give you more results with less effort. Imagine that! I would love to see a video of your rep-out technique and the amazing quads it has built.
Sure you did buddy...i just did legs over an hour ago actually and sweat is running down my face before i get to the squat rack after doing extensions....if you had done extensions first you would have mentioned that already in on of your earlier comments...nice try though
dude dont worry. guys like this think they are on some other plane of existence cause they are AAS free. the guy is strong and will make a good natural bodybuilder but hes still a twat.
I would rather be natural then a cheater. Only losers resort to drugs. I have no respect for people that use steroids because they lift weights or play sports. If you can't lift weights WITHOUT steroids, then you shouldn't be lifting at all!
More results with less effort....not true...you still have to train hard and be dedicated....Training naturally like you see %90 of the people at your local gym doing and most look the same year after year and still lift the same weights...Imagine that....their just spinning their wheels.
marvellous effort, u dug deep to get to physiological muscle failure. I too am a fan of Mike Mentzer's body building philosophy. Your vids are great and demonstrates that you are an innovative bodybuilder. Great intensity, well done..
You might notice it is the form critiquers that I harass for video proof of their credibility as coaches. Surely, any learned expert, as these guys posture themselves to be, could provide a simple video demo of the proper technique they are so adamant about! I mean, I'm just some retarded dude in a Kansas basement, and (wrong as my form may be) I managed to produce several videos.
As for my claim to being drug-free--I'll let the discerning viewer decide as to my credibility there.
that is awesome. I had an injury that kept me out of the gym for a while, and am looking to get back into shape now that i am healed. 20 rep squats/deadlifts will be a big part of my attempt at getting back in shape. This vid will greatly motivate me.
Bastionhead.....How long have you been working 20-rep squats? Do you find that they live up to all the hype that is behind them? Did/do they really help with overall mass gains?
I've done high-rep squats on and off for the last 10 years or so. I've found that hitting failure at 20+ reps on a regular basis not only given me terrific leg mass and systemic conditioning, but it makes any other type of workout seem like a walk in the park. I should mention though that focusing on high reps will not do much for your 1RM.
Very impressive. Even though your main purpose is bodybuilding, have you noticed any carry over to your vertical leap? You must be able to have decent jumps if you can squat like that at your weight.
A lot of people have asked about my vertical leap. Actually, it is nothing special--I never specifically train to improve my jumping. I certainly recommend low-rep squatting for vert training, though. You might want to check out some Olympic lifting training videos, since Oly lifters have to exert maximum power in the shortest possible time from full crouching positions. Olympic lifters are also known to have among the fastest 40-yard dash times of any athletes.
As you know, I've done 396lbs (180kg) for 20 reps. I want you to outlift me! :) :) I'm sticking at low reps now, but will have a go at 190kg x 20 reps sometime next year! :) Boy, was 180kg x 20 reps hard! :)
That's funny--I thought I was going to kill my knees from squatting too low, as I hear all the time. And how long is it going to take to kill my knees, beacause I've been squatting like this for years yet my knees are rock solid. Maybe you could post a video showing me "proper" form? And just to make sure I really get the message, maybe you could go ahead and do 20 reps with 1.8 x your bodyweight, as I did here.
woah dude, no reason to freak out, jesus. watch the Squat RX videos, your form is pretty good besides the knees. you cant post a video up here and not expect criticism, so get off your pedestal. i was just trying to help, ass.
Look, when you're reaching failure in the 20-rep range, some slight deviations in form are bound to arise. And yeah, you were trying to help with your remark--I'm so tired of that crap. Face it--you were trying to insult me implicitly. As I said before, if you really wanted to help me you could start by posting a video of yourself squatting better than I do.
no... you just took what i said initially COMPLETELY out of context. no where did i say your lifting sucked, that you were weak, or that i was in any way shape or form better than you. you're a strong guy, but when you need to step down from your pedestal. I've only been lifting for about 2 years, so theres no need to flip out on me.
no where did i say i was better than him, and no where did i say i could do more weight, learn to read, mind your own fucking business and go get hit by a god damned bus.
This is youtube, where your videos are your credentials. Without any squat videos to prove you are qualified to be dishing out advice, your criticism is worse than meaningless. While your 1 video proves your lack of physique development, the need to erroneously criticize someone of obviously much greater experience and achievement than yourself proves your lack of character. I prove your regurgitated dogma wrong every time I get under the bar. Please stop polluting my channel with your crap.
LMFAO. Whippin out he big words on youtube? look guy, i in now way insulted, said anything bad about you or any of the like. I harmlessly gave a critique if you can even call it that. i even complimented you in the initial post. and if you want me to stop flooding your channel then why do you respond to what i say?
Believe it or not, I was rooting for you the whole time while I was watching this video. I was like "you got it, you got it, it's all you!" on that last rep. This is great stuff. This is what you call REAL WEIGHT TRAINING. After seeing this, I can't wait to get to the gym later today.
Yesterday I just completed 140kg (308 pounds) for 20 reps, no belt, no wraps, narrow stance, ass to grass. I'm 23 years old and have been training for just over 18 months (lifetime drug free like you). These types of videos are insprirational!!. I'll try and post up a video response when I try 142.5kg (313.5 pound) next week.
You are an animal. I prefer intensity over frequency as well. Your training seems based on HIT/Heavy duty principles per M.Mentzer. Thoughts? Defninitely though with natural training frequency must drop.
Dude, how long have you been training and how old are you? My guess is thirty something and for a minimum of 6 years. Also what is your eating regime?
I'm 31 and have been lifting since age 15, but I backed off the weights some frome age 26 to 30 to develop my interest in cycling.
As far as diet, I just avoid fast food and excessive amounts of junk food while making sure I get plenty of protein. There is no strict plan or anything.
Indeed, my training philosophy was heavily influenced by Mentzer.
Very good effort! Incredible form on every rep - deeper than IPF depth. I really loved to see your joy here. Even though the set was like going through hell it was obvious that you enjoyed every single rep :) Great!
I didn't mean just your squat routine. /i meant the whole thing. I've read in other coments you take 3 days rest between sesions, but what do you do on your other training days? For chest, and back for instance. Just intersested to see how the whole thing looks!
I watched your video TWICE! Damn man, I almost tought I was alone doing this thing! Very good to see some others doing the real thing and not only bragging! I will try to give you 5 stars AGAIN, but it is impossible, I can only do it once! :D I love your efforts buddy. Mighty impressive!
I am very excited to see a brother that is not afraid of pain! I tought such creatures hardly did not exist. This was brutal work, honest, good depth and just plain good! Bad news is however you have to up your game, because I can out-squat you! :) Just check out my video titled T-nation 20-rep challenge. I will try to make it a video answer to this video. Very nice mate, very very very nice! Top rating!
Most excellent, brother! How could that be bad news, though? The whole reason I posted my challenge was the hope of being motivated and inspired by the responses--so it is in fact very good news to me that I have been out-squatted (for the second time now). Thank you for the kind praise, and for showing us all how to bust ass!
Well, it was "bad news" in the good meaning of the word! :) lol. I can tell you are a great man! A great man of many levels! Then we have a competition. First man to 180kg x 20 reps! :D

Yeah, just a couple reps here. Let me just guess--you're not planning on posting a video of your spectacularly unspecial 683 squat.

biglogstrongman 2 years ago
Not only is this impressive because it's 20 reps of 355 pounds, but look at the bar position: It's Olympic-style high-bar squats. This is significantly more difficult than the low-bar Starting Strength style. Very impressive!
deludedbaseball 2 years ago
As for people complaining that his knees SLIGHTLY collapse into valgus - this is a 20 rep set. Minor form breakdowns are to be expected and should not be complained about.

Amen to that.

Love watching these video`s.
Awesome form and depth every rep.
I just started 20 rep squats and love them.

ThrowFarr 2 years ago
Bastionhead....let me ask you a question here and please don't take it as an insult/cheap shot. I definately respect what you do. You're bigger, stronger and much leaner than me! Here it goes: You're doing 355x20 here and going DEEP. That's a serious feat. The Jesse Marunde video only has him doing 52 lbs. more and he didn't even go as deep as you. But being able to do such a serious 20 rep set shouldn't you have a lot more mass...230-240 lbs? Or are the claims in Super Squats inaccuarte?
mensacyclist 2 years ago
Good question, but all I can say is that whatever mass I have is clearly sufficient to do the work! I guess from my perspective I'm wondering why Marunde (RIP), at ~280lbs, isn't squatting 505lbs x 20.
bastionhead 2 years ago
The reason I ask is because I'm giving 20 rep squats a try (again) with the hopes of gaining SOME mass. I know the results are not going to be anything like what the book claims.....even with steroids 30 lbs. in 6 weeks would be a stretch. I just hope that if I do a full 6 week cycle I can get SOMETHING. Doing 20 rep squats with a heavy enough weight truely is like being in hell. I just hope I'll get something for my pain. BTW....what's you best single in the squat?
mensacyclist 2 years ago
I've never done a 1RM, but I got 495 for a double at the end of a workout when I was at my all-time strongest a few years back.
If I may, I would caution you against doing your 20-rep squats too frequently. I generally need at least 10 full days between squat workouts, 12-14 days being optimal.
You gotta learn to like the pain!
bastionhead 2 years ago
@mensacyclist
marunde's video showed him doing that set at the end of an already brutal workout. and gaining mass depends on how much you're eating. it's like building a house, if you've got tons of wood and bricks you can make a huge sturdy house with hard work. if less material, then a smaller sturdy house with hard work. but with no hard work, you've just got a pile of wood and bricks
irishlax13 8 months ago
Wow, drug free 355x20 squat? No way. There's no way anyone could squat 350x20 or deadlift 405x5 without 20 years of stacks of top level steroids.

But if your gonna compete in any way or brag about how ur better than someone or tell people about your bench than ur cheating.
bright5086200 2 years ago
man i dont know how you can do that without that blue thing that helps it rest on your back. ive tried and even with light weight it hurts my neck pretty bad
Marax1231 2 years ago
The manta ray puts the bar too high on your back. It's better to have the bar lower and closer to your body.
steroidsR4losers 2 years ago
Thats pretty good..but im %100 sure your legs would be much bigger if you banged the reps out quicker instead of resting so long at the top of each rep which is waaaaay is easier....by resting at the top too long your not really stressing the legs that much but more your knees and lower back....which explains why your legs arent really that big for the weight your using.Next time rep it out without locking out and for sure you will get less reps....BUT your legs will grow much faster.
spade121981 2 years ago
I have the experience to know your claim is pure bullshit, and can therefore guarantee you will never post a video of your squatting. Go get an education under the bar, dingdong.
If you rep out faster and fail quicker, you will have deprived yourself of the most beneficial part of the set, which is the several delicious, agonizing, slow reps at the end. (You don't have the stomach for that.)
My legs "arent really that big" because I don't use anabolics. If a 26+ inch thigh isn't that big.
bastionhead 2 years ago
If you rep it out its waaaay harder..but obviously YOU dont have the stomach for that ..instead you keep standing there for 5 to 10 seconds at the top of each rep...hence the reason you have no legs....if you think its not so hard repping it out then do 20 reps in a row non stop....after doing sets of leg extensions first like i do..and yes a 26 inch thigh is small..why would you think thats big?Mine were 24.5 before i even touched a weight..now there 29.5..and yes i do use juice, why waste time
spade121981 2 years ago
Why don't you try and lift weights WITHOUT steroids?
steroidsR4losers 2 years ago
why don't you try and lift weights WITH steroids? and quit wasting time.Look at the guy in this video...does he look like anything special?.If i saw him on the street i wouldnt even think he works out.
spade121981 2 years ago
You can tell he works out. You are comparing him to people that are on drugs. You have the wrong metallity. The people that are on steroids wouldn't look the way they do if they never used steroids. So what does that tell you...the only reason they are bigger and stronger is because of the drugs. That's not very impressive to me. It's not like BASTIONHEAD doesn't work out...he doesn't "cheat" by using steroids. What BASTIONHEAD does is more impressive, it's ALL him!
steroidsR4losers 2 years ago
You can?....what you said is partially true..but before i used juice i already did a 555lb squat with no wraps, a 563lb deadlift with no straps, just chalk and a 420lb bench after doing my incline bench work first all naturally....BUT to take things to the next level and compete you HAVE to use juice or else you will just get left behind...and you have to remember its what you look like that matters at the show not what you ethical principals are when it comes to the topic of juice..
spade121981 2 years ago
He CHOOSES not to use steroids. You CHOOSE to use steroids. I think BASTIONHEAD made the better CHOICE. You don't HAVE to use steroids, you CHOOSE to use steroids. You should have stayed natural and not worried about what people would think of you because you didn't start doing drugs. All the "gains" that you got AFTER using the steroids should NOT count, you had "help".
steroidsR4losers 2 years ago
You cant compete against other people that are on drugs unless you get on them too....i placed 4th at the 2004 USA....if i hadnt used juice i wouldnt have even made the top 15...everybody at the show was on something so its an equal playing field...its only cheating if your using something and competing against a natural person...and let me tell you all these people like skip lacouer who claim to natural have used juice aswell sometime in their career.
spade121981 2 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
To natural people it IS cheating. Also, most people that use steroids never admit or talk about them. You could have said, "If I have to use steroids to keep up with these guys, I just won't compete at a contest where people are using steroids, because I'm not going to resort to that."
steroidsR4losers 2 years ago
but i did resort to it....you only live once so you might aswell try everything....and anyway im not on them all year...i cycle them..usually 4 months on 2 months off
spade121981 2 years ago
I wouldn't waste my life away using drugs. My life means much more to me then that. I want to take care of my body because I only live once. I have integrity.

EtrajbHD 1 year ago
The video above is proof of the existence of my 26+ inch thighs and the work that produced them.
It is not proof that I have not tried the method you recommend, however. I have tried fast-cadence sets (which of course necessitates lower weight) and found them to be fairly useless--and quite easy compared to what you see here. Nevertheless--notice I am smiling and laughing just after racking the bar? That's because I love hard work. BTW, the chump is the guy with no videos.
bastionhead 2 years ago
bullshit...repping it out is harder. You even admitted that by saying you had to use a lower weight....if it was easier you would be using a higher weight or at least the same....ive done it both ways and repping it out is harder...not just on squats but also on leg press and hack squats....and as for the weight thats just a means to an end anyway..its HOW the exercise is peformed..like pushing from the heel not the ball of the foot, feet positioning, doing leg extensions first, not locking out etc.
spade121981 2 years ago
i bet anything you didnt do leg extensions first before these squats did you?....Yes.. if you do the extsnsions first you wont be able to use as much weight when do squats or leg press after BUT your legs will be doing all the work and will grow faster....hence the reason almost every single pro starts with the extensions first.Ive done it both ways and doing the extensions first improves your legs waaaay quicker...than simply piling weight on and doing squats first...leave the ego at the door.
spade121981 2 years ago
Actually, Nostradamus, I did do leg extensions first! And as long as you're on the juice, any type of training will give you good results. That is in fact why anabolics are so popular--they give you more results with less effort. Imagine that! I would love to see a video of your rep-out technique and the amazing quads it has built.
bastionhead 2 years ago
Sure you did buddy...i just did legs over an hour ago actually and sweat is running down my face before i get to the squat rack after doing extensions....if you had done extensions first you would have mentioned that already in on of your earlier comments...nice try though
spade121981 2 years ago
dude dont worry. guys like this think they are on some other plane of existence cause they are AAS free. the guy is strong and will make a good natural bodybuilder but hes still a twat.
fatcat669 2 years ago
I would rather be natural then a cheater. Only losers resort to drugs. I have no respect for people that use steroids because they lift weights or play sports. If you can't lift weights WITHOUT steroids, then you shouldn't be lifting at all!
steroidsR4losers 2 years ago
More results with less effort....not true...you still have to train hard and be dedicated....Training naturally like you see %90 of the people at your local gym doing and most look the same year after year and still lift the same weights...Imagine that....their just spinning their wheels.

To your point-no video equals no credibility. No drug test equals shit. I have yet to see one guy on YT admit to drugs.
ranirv 2 years ago
You might notice it is the form critiquers that I harass for video proof of their credibility as coaches. Surely, any learned expert, as these guys posture themselves to be, could provide a simple video demo of the proper technique they are so adamant about! I mean, I'm just some retarded dude in a Kansas basement, and (wrong as my form may be) I managed to produce several videos.
As for my claim to being drug-free--I'll let the discerning viewer decide as to my credibility there.

bastionhead 3 years ago
Bastionhead.....How long have you been working 20-rep squats? Do you find that they live up to all the hype that is behind them? Did/do they really help with overall mass gains?
mensacyclist 3 years ago
I've done high-rep squats on and off for the last 10 years or so. I've found that hitting failure at 20+ reps on a regular basis not only given me terrific leg mass and systemic conditioning, but it makes any other type of workout seem like a walk in the park. I should mention though that focusing on high reps will not do much for your 1RM.
bastionhead 3 years ago
Very impressive. Even though your main purpose is bodybuilding, have you noticed any carry over to your vertical leap? You must be able to have decent jumps if you can squat like that at your weight.
eggowned 3 years ago
A lot of people have asked about my vertical leap. Actually, it is nothing special--I never specifically train to improve my jumping. I certainly recommend low-rep squatting for vert training, though. You might want to check out some Olympic lifting training videos, since Oly lifters have to exert maximum power in the shortest possible time from full crouching positions. Olympic lifters are also known to have among the fastest 40-yard dash times of any athletes.

your going to kill your knees the way you bring them in together on the way up.
demizebp 3 years ago
That's funny--I thought I was going to kill my knees from squatting too low, as I hear all the time. And how long is it going to take to kill my knees, beacause I've been squatting like this for years yet my knees are rock solid. Maybe you could post a video showing me "proper" form? And just to make sure I really get the message, maybe you could go ahead and do 20 reps with 1.8 x your bodyweight, as I did here.
bastionhead 3 years ago
woah dude, no reason to freak out, jesus. watch the Squat RX videos, your form is pretty good besides the knees. you cant post a video up here and not expect criticism, so get off your pedestal. i was just trying to help, ass.
demizebp 3 years ago
Look, when you're reaching failure in the 20-rep range, some slight deviations in form are bound to arise. And yeah, you were trying to help with your remark--I'm so tired of that crap. Please stop polluting my channel with your crap.
bastionhead 3 years ago

You are an animal. I prefer intensity over frequency as well. Your training seems based on HIT/Heavy duty principles per M.Mentzer. Thoughts? Defninitely though with natural training frequency must drop.
Dude, how long have you been training and how old are you? My guess is thirty something and for a minimum of 6 years. Also what is your eating regime?
Look forward to your reply.
Much appreciated.
