Seems a bit anticlimatic of an ending though. Because once you've admitted that you're just playing with them, the tension drops and everyone realizes you're just farting around with them. If your "spoiler" turns out to be true, it's incidentally so, not because you said anything about it, so it'd just be a coincidence.

Of course, whether everyone will read this far in the comment chain or not is beyond me. Who knows?

Well, yes, in the same way that the badguy always "wins" in that he managed to kill some people along the way, you'd be victorious, but the point is that you've revealed yourself as part of this dialog. Further, "Knowledge" is more than simply true belief: the fact that you stated that they would die, and eventually end up being right didn't mean you knew it, so it's mistaken to claim to be vindicated under those circumstances. Epistemology, biznitch!
