  • @aminah190 I think it is because we don't patronize our own product, we're more on the imported ones... If only we support our own Philippine made from crafts, arts, materials, I think we should be ok... Also regarding business wise, I saw alot of pinoys complaining why "foreigners" getting alot of businesses, it is because we dont initiate to do it ourselves, pity but I guess Pilipino mentality is like that.

  • Amazing Video! Baguio City has & will always be special in my heart. We now live in Canada but everytime we go home, we always visit Baguio. We love Baguio so much, this is where we had our first date, our honeymoon, countless vacations & used to come to pray (Grotto) when we are down & desperately needs help. Thanks so much for this wonderful video, thought I know evrything about Baguio City but after watching this video I'm more amazed and proud of what Baguio have achieved 100 years after.

  • Thank you for making this video. I like the old pictures best. I missed my city.

  • superb!!!!galing man!!!!

I missed this place. I studied at University of Baguio and love the place so much...good memories..

  • im so inlove to baguio and her people... ahm BTW, my girlfriend is from baguio.. ^^

  • Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful video. I'm from this city;however, I don't really know its history. Watching it brings back a lot of memories which makes me missed the city so much. Hope I can go back someday.

  • It's more polluted than it's early years pero hindi naman sobra. Actually, last January, Baguio had experienced the coldest temperature since the past 30 years - mainly because of the climate change.

  • saan mo nakuha yung mga pic?

  • I've downloaded the pics from the internet and some of the latest ones were personally taken by my self.

  • Thank you for sharing this wonderful video. I lived in Baguio for two years and it brings back many happy memories for me and also acquaints me with so much of its past.

  • What a beautiful place. I grew up in Baguio City, went to BCHS and 2.5 years at SLU, College of Engineering. I left Baguio/Philippines to venture new life in the US Military and has been a US residence since then. I went home to the Philippines after 19 years of absence and sure was a beautiful experience, though as everything else it has changed and it will continue to change. Sometime in the near future (2011 I hope) I will be back to visit my beloved place of birth and also play Golf.

  • Beautiful piece of work. Really enjoyed watching the video. Your sound effect & photograph are absolutely excellent! I am from Malaysia. Happy Anniversary Baguio City. So much to remember with all the memories after 100 years. All the best! God Bless Always. Marlene

  • Baguio is now a Developed City..Lots of Business...Schools...etc..i just wish LIMITATIONS on every thing cause baguio is just a small place, small town it's native people only have. so pls.. don't over develop it cause a lot might go away and won't come back....

  • This brought tears to my eyes watching.....BuT NoW: A lot has Change...Full of Vehicles Private + PUJ's = Air Pollution & Traffic

Populated by a Lot Of types of people..name it you got it.. 50% are from the lowlands who migrated up here (HINDI SILA ORIGINAL NA TAGA BAGUIO)... = Trees are cut,Lands are populated and squatered..Lots of Garbage are made..

  • dang still a baguio resident but gone for the moment, 1983 - 2002.....i love to be back home, back to bakakeng norte...

PFC. Ramos, 1175th MP CO, 205th MP BN US army, MOARNG

  • i love my hometown but i was saddened with all the garbage thats scattered around.. i visited baguio just last month.. hayz...

  • development - calamity - then overdevelopment!!!

  • Thanks for posting. I grew up in Baguio from 1971-1986. It was an absolutely wonderful place to live. Haven't seen my hometown in 23 years. So pictures and videos make me cry. I don't think I'd be able to handle a trip back home. It doesn't look very nice. Sometimes I wonder how beautiful this planet was before humans came along.

  • ^_^

  • Having to live a hectic and busy life takes some toll. One needs to enjoy the fruit and harvest of his labor. So the thought of goin to Baguio is just one of the option to take so i surprised my family without even mentioning them about how i reserved the ticket bus to hotel accomadations of Microtel Baguio. We took the midnight trip to Baguio and our destination in the morning we were welcome by the beauteous and courteous hotel staff namely LEA TORMINO and ARCIE TAMPIC. I gave photo of 2006

  • As a boy i used to dream of goin to Baguio because of the cool surroundings and as i mature and earn my income in my business the thought of someday visit the place does not leave me. So on the HISTORIC DAY just like the word of Julius Ceasar "I CAME, I SAW, I CONQUER" tagging along with me my family on the summer of March 2006 we stayed in the famous Microtel Baguio and enjoys the luxurious life a family can dream of.

  • thanks for sharing this video. i loved here in the '80s and i miss the place so much. and seeing ur video i highly appreciate bcoz now i only see how was Baguio in the early times. again thanks so much. God bless!

  • >> mas astig yung baguio noon, we get to slide those mountain sides using our cardboard box thinggies, we rule the streets, the airport was our playground, we used to ghost hunt every night etc., but now, we can't do any of those stuff because of those houses na nagsisulputang parang mushroom (and because we're too old to do those things!)... ang masaklap pa, halos puro TAGA-BABA ung nakatira.. ay ewan. parang alam ko na kung cnung sisisihin sa extrang 67% na basura d2 sa baguio...

  • love it! i miss Baguio so much...

  • Baguio is a mini metropolis no different from Cubao and Pasay. It's dirty, congested and hot. There are buildings and malls everywhere you go and traffic is WORSE than that of Manila. The crime rate is high and the garbage is overwhelming. Baguio is only a SHELL of what it used to be. Trees are being cut down to "clear the view". Coupled with corruption, Baguio is just your average city that just happens to be slightly cooler than Manila on a regular day.

Baguio City is a very memorable place for me... it is next to home.

  • i rili love the music bed... :D

  • ganda ng Baguio! :D Its nice staying in a paradise called Baguio City... :D

  • anya ka m't'n

  • Baguio City Government has abandoned the unique identity of the city of baguio. Who ever said we wanted a metropolitan baguio?! we wanted it rural, a respite from the bustling metropolitan manila life. Baguio now is just another city.

  • tama ka dian kaibigan.....those politicians got richer and ritcher because of this development kano.....F@#@^^%%. THEM.

  • men i want to go home so much

  • this video almost made me cry--of joy and sadness. i am a Baguio boy and it's really nice to reminisce the good ol' Baguio. the music blends with the video, very appropriate choice of music, nakakadala lalo na nung pinortray sa movie na to yung earthquake. but what i liked most in this video are the photos from 1920's to 1980's sayang nga lang hindi napakita yung post-war Baguio...thank you for making this video...thank you...

  • baguio. a place to be.

1fanaticperson, "the city has great potential - at the moment not very pleasant."

  • TY 4 SHARING THIS ................

  • I live in Baguio City... I love the place but there are things not appealing both visitors and residents alike:

    1. Driving is no longer a joy-WALANG DISIPLINA ang mga karamihan ng mga driver. Traffic signs are only suggestions

    2. Dirty streets (literally every corner)

    3. Damage Roads/potholes etc.

    4. Poor city planning.

    5. Polluted air

OVERALL VERDICT: the city has great potential - at the moment not very pleasant. hehe

  • i live in BAGUIO city......yeah it is amazing to live in a cool city...but know that people uses lots of chemicals and burning lots of trash i somehow realize that city of BAGUIO is being destroyed because of pollution.

the BURNHAM lake was already green and other trees in kennon road are being consumed because of illegal logging....

i hope u realize that we are the one who is making the disasters....we stil have chance...so just do it know...conserve and recycle...

  • this brought back memories. I am filled with nostalgia and longing for the old Baguio. It saddens me that my children will never see and experience what we did as children. i hope something is done soon to stop the devastation of our beloved city. preserve what is beautiful and natural...

  • wow!! i missed Baguio!! grabe pala what happen past years...wew!! I love baguio more than ever!!!! agbyag tau amin!!

  • wow... i was born 1990... so i didnt know how beautiful baguio was back then....

  • I Love Baguio ! c:

  • Wow. This was wonderful. I guess what would make this more complete was the impact of WWII to Baguio where the city was also destroyed. Great job on this one and thanks!

  • am not from baguio city, bt i love this place so much

  • I was like OMG .. Baguio is way too different pla from now.. I wish i've witnessed baguio before.. though I wasn't born the time baguio was still so beautiful and so green... I really appriciate and love my hometown.. with regardz to the amercanz who brought western style.. thanx! :)

  • Miss ko na baguio...agbiag tayo nga taga baguio.....greatings from new zealand......

  • wow nice vid! ^^ 5/5

  • Very well made video. One comment- I believe the picture labeled Diplomat Hotel was actually a picture of the old Dominican Hill before it was bought by Tony Agapaoa and turned it to Diplomat Hotel in the 70's. Nevertheless, still a well made video of Baguio.

  • My first trip in Baguio was in year 1997, I loved the weather and the cleanliness of the place. But now I don't know how this place suddenly changed, the weather is comparable to those ordinary provinces I've been to, and the pollution is worse. I hope for a nice progress for this place, as it is one of the most memorable places I've been to.

  • astig tlg mga pinoy

    mabuhay tayonh lahat...

  • thanks so much for uploading this video...kahit 4 x lang ako nakakarating doon walang sawang babalik ulit ako...

  • Thanks very much for this video. My dad is from Baguio and enjoyed this very much.

  • nice portrayal of baguio city on video. I would have preferred the tragedy of earhquake that hit baguio should have been shown in a different segment.

without the earthquake section on the video... my title would be "the rise of baguio city" or "baguio city: born yesterday and today."

    aihihihi!!!

    baklita

  • I was misty-eyed while watching this video.. thank u so much for posting it... It doesn't matter what others call baguio because for me, there is no place like it..Baguio will always be a beautiful place to be...Baguio people are warm and peaceful people....

  • Very nicely done video. I have friends from Baguio that tell me how nice it is there. I can see they are correct.

  • Love Baguio. I went to SLU for 2 years back in 84 or 85. I miss the place. I am here in Maryland now but when I go back, baguio will be my destination for vacation. I went to school with Sandy Hugo, my Bestfriend in college.

  • Congratulations on 100 years Baguio!

  • I love the clip. Brings back so many memories. Great compilation of pics. Thanks so much...

  • it's sad to think that this place is now called" city of garbage" ibang iba na ang baguio ngayon kumpara nung kabataan namin... i can still remember the smell of pine trees whenever i woke up in the morning but now those days are gone hay Baguio.... surely there will be a second earthquake hehehe as the saying goes-HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF>>> Tanx mason28viz for postong this video more power

  • mason28viz, Thanks for this vid. clip, I myself grow-up in this beautiful city, The Lord has always a plan. I was there during that Earthquake and I thought it will be the end of the world, I saw when Royal Inn, Baguio Hilltop collapsed, I suffered a shortage of food Baguio City is isolated no way out the three main road were closed. But now 2009 "WoW"

Baguio was rebuild become more beautiful than ever. More power Baguio City.

  • as a resident of baguio, this video was very touching. i love it. thanks

  • May the next 100 years of Baguio be a marriage between economic development and nature conservation. Long live Baguio and the people who love the city!

  • i love the pictures of the old Baguio. it showed what Baguio is meant to be. A city where development and ecology is balanced. Where people can enjoy city life yet still be very close to nature. The newer pictures show that this is lost. It doesn't show how Baguio is different from manila anymore. puro buildings, traffic, electicity poles na lang ba ang Baguio ngayon? I hope the development of baguio will still allow people to enjoy the natural environment Baguio is supposed to be able to offer.

  • Very nice presentation..

  • awesome...miss the place...miss the people...miss everything about the place...would love to go back for a long vacation...makes me really feel old...will try to catch the centennial celebs...love the place...

  • wow i miss baguio . i love that place.

Can someone tell me where that building in 10:19 is. I haven't been home since 2005.

  • That Building is the People Support Center, owned by SM. It is located at the SM Land along Harrison Road Extension in front of the Sunshine Park's side entrance. I

  • Ah right. Before I left, it was just a small white building with small shops on it, still owned by SM, but smaller than that.

Dang it, I miss Yo-Bags like crazeh

  • The small building is still there... just beside that newly constructed one... on its right...

  • uh uh i really love this vid. thanks for this 'really appreciate it a lot.....very inspiring how the people of baguio before moved on after that......

  • exellent.......thats why i love baguio

  • too sad that Baguio was extremely affected by the EarthQuake way back 90's..

i was still not on this world then.. ^^

  • Ang ganda pala ng baguio noon

  • ang ganda ng baguio nung under construction plang ung burnham park,

    ang lawak

    ngaun isolated area na siya!

  • Thanks for sharing Such a Video Documentary It helps a Lot

  • nice complied photos and documents but i don't want to remember the earthquake, i was 5 where we need to find a place at burnham park during the earthquake, everyone was scared of death during that time, i witness how families gather at the mines view and push each other for these goods just for survival...i still remember these tough events Baguio City have experienced it was horrible in deed.

  • mga OFWs mag si uwi kayo dito sa Baguio now February - Panagbenga Flower Festival start na po February 1 til March 3 then 100 Centennial Anniversary sa September 2009...kaya don't miss it!!!

If more than 4 years na kayo hindi naka uwi, you missed a lot na dahil baka maligaw kayo dito sa Baguio because madami na ho changes and I guess, walang strawberries, Good Shepherds Products diyan at knitted products...kaya uwi na at hintayin namin kayo dito...care for a group gathering????
