  • Nice vid!

  • Gotta love those old BlueBox kits

  • Looked at the vid again. Just a standard blue box Athearn kit upgraded to DCC with only the end handrail's painted yellow after a black coat because they are raw metal in the kit. I don't see a single after market detail added.

  • Im jlwii2000s cousin who detailed and gave him this train set. YES IT IS CUSTOM DETAILED!!! As I commented on my cousins other video of this train, it is an Athearn Blue Box SW1500 factory painted as NASA #2. I painted the handrails black & yellow, added a brass Nathan M-5 horn and painted it CP Red. I added a brass EMD SW-style bell and painted it flat black. I added Yeloglo LEDs for both the front and REAR headlights. I added a Digitrax DZ123 DCC decoder. I also added Kadee couplers.

  • As for the freight cars, there are two, Bowser 100-Ton 45 3-bay hoppers factory painted as NASA #113 & #114. I added Kadee self-centering A.S.F. 100-Ton Roller Bearing Trucks & Kadee couplers. The caboose is an Athearn Blue Box Wide Vision Caboose factory painted as NASA #101. I painted the handrails black & yellow, added Atlas Caboose Trucks & Kadee couplers. I hope this clears up ANY doubts that this is a custom train set.

  • Custom? Sorry but the only thing I see custom is the hand rails on the end's painted yellow. I had 3 of them from Athearn. Sold them shortly after. Just didn't fit into my road.

  • That's cool, I've seen HO scale USAF rolling stock too!
