We have all the important players signed for a good 2-3 years.

And it would be a VERY good thing if we lost/let go of Theriot. He hits for a poor batting average, can't take pitches or take many walks, he can't hit for doubles triples, or any homers. He also hits VERY poorly in the clutch (With runners on base, and late in the game)

AND ALSO, he plays well below average defense. But I'm glad he tries SO HARD! That's all that matters, even if you're an awful player, right?

Are you a complete idiot Theriot is a beast, he is hitting .321. OBPS is close to .400 so walks alot, you do not need the long ball to win.

And for the Defense he is a very good defender. He is improving he is young for a baseball player at the age of 28.

He actually is statistically a poor defensive shortstop, if you knew not to judge using errors.

Range Factor and Zone rating, they show you how much field you cover. He's the 5th worst, to go along with his terrible arm. He's below average to bad. He also is leading baseball in times caught stealing, with 7. The #2 guy has 5. He is hitting for a good average and OBP right now, but once it comes down, he won't be able to make up for his poor defense and poor baserunning.

And really, are you SAD we let go of Corey Patterson?? He's God-awful. Alou can hit, but can't field worth a shit. We let go of him when he was 39 years old, not like he had a lot of years ahead of him. Garciaparra was hurt, and has had 1 good year outta the last 3 and a half. We let go of lofton at 38 years old, and has been solid lately, but nothing worth mentioning.

As it stands though, the Cubs are around the 9th or 10th best team in baseball. They need offensively help, direly.
