First of all, I would like to disagree about this man being a "dufus" providing by that term targetmarksman1 refers to means "dumb" or "unintelligent". Now, to the survivalistboards, may I ask where you specifically obtain these MRE and if they are military issue or for civilian use. If military, do you know if they can be obtainted from Canada? Thank you in advance, kind sir.
P.S. MREs are quite scarce and very expensive in Canada. I've had only one and it was delicious!
This clown has to be the biggest dufus I have ever seen. I love the way he talks down to his kids to make them look stupid on camera so he can look smarter that them. Try to pretend once that you don't know EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING.
MRE's have changed a LOT since they were first introduced to us in the military. We used to call the dehydrated beef and pork patties "hockey pucks". We used to pack our own hot sauce, not to flavor them but rather to kill the taste. I hear they are actually edible now.
if you can't get your gobble rod to the bottom cos you're scared of germs, squeeze the food up from the bottom and fold it like a tube of toothpaste. Simples!
@candigirl1970 mres include main auntrey desert siding condements possebly tobasco sause napkins a moist towlet sometimes gum a beverage-most likely fruity coffie a heating package with the iron packates to heat it with water and the beverage bag
Obviously he's doing this for educational purposes, I highly doubt he sits around his house eating MRE's. Being an avid hiker, I can tell you that fats are not a problem when humping a 50 to 100lb. pack through the mountains. The more energy you exert the more calories you burn, and not all fats are bad for you.
you think that shits good until you eat that it almost everyday for a year and opening it on the long side will eliminate the fact that the spoons too short sorry man but your like a 15th rate tom brown jr
An MRE is loaded with around 7000 calories and loads of fat. They're made to keep up a fighting soldier strength. Not a redneck on a camping trip. You'll get fat like your friend if eating them like a regular meal.
im 13 and love MREs lol had one when i was hunting cuz my brothers friend is a veteran (awesome guy) and we were all hunting and i had the meatloaf and gravy mmmmmmmmmmm
...there is more packaging than food ...there are more viruses and bacteria in the air we breath than on our hands ...and what are you doing with the packaging ...I trust you are taking it with you ...Why are you going camping? ...sorry... I did learn something though ...people sure think differently than I
MREs suck. The IMPs that the Canadian Forces use are way better. From what my friends have told me, these are like currency to the Americans in Afghanistan.
I have tried several of both and I love IMPs , one of my favorites is the Hungarian Goulash. I find it funny that there was any difference at all because they for the most part are made by the same company.
I can appreciate you wanting to teach ppl about survival, but you need a lot more experience than what your displaying on camera, maybe you should check out some of nutnfancy's video's and learn the right way to do things since you are trying to teach ppl on your own channel!
@roaming1978 It's one thing being an expert, it's another thing being a good teacher. But I think he does a decent job. This is the first time I have seen an MRE opened and used in one video.
@Manny1222 I'm not trying to bash the guy, because I'm no expert myself..but I hear what your saying...I just think he should be a little more well equipped with knowledge/know how.
i think hes a bit to cautios about sticking his hands in it. ppl would eat worms and snakes and fish sometimes raw but then u would be afraid to stick ur fingers in an mre? i can respect being careful about stuff but i think theres a point where your to cautios
@Kadude1 if there was a nuclear bomb that hit your town, do you honestly think it would matter if you were prepared or not? not a single "survival" skill would matter. But as far as MRE's, not everyone thinks like you. Again, its an instructional video. If you don't need to know about MRE's, just be on your way, and stop making idiotic comments about how much much people should die if they don't know about MRE's. Looks like you're not idiot proof either.
@Kadude1: there's a lot of people that don't know what MRE's are, so it's a great instructional video of what an MRE is and demonstrate the most common item included in one. If you want to talk about reality checks, maybe you should check yourself first. For the same amount of time you spent writing negative posts and your opinions, you could have made a video of how to help others with things they might not know. Seems you know a lot more than Kevin by the sound of things, tough guy.
How does MREs differ from freeze dried foods in terms of taste, convenience, longevity, and nutritional value. Been wanting to put together a survival kit along with either a water purifier or the tablets, hand crank radio/light, etc.
Check out my website for the best kydex sheath you can reasonably buy. I do ALL my work without electric tools, if you buy now you get a free add-on (a ten dollar value)
Iv'e got discounts for double orders and reviews.
I do not make my living off of this so i can assure great prices, and i've got all the time in the world for your sheath.
I upload videos to youtube.com with the detailed steps in making YOUR sheath, not someone else's.
It comes with toilet paper? Haha I wonder if the company that makes the MREs are hinting that this food might cause but not limited to giving you the squirts.
@xXxSHOOPIExXx Why do you think it's funny MREs have toilet paper in them? Troops in the field, or anyone else in the wilderness, has to go to the toilet just the same as if they were back at base or in their home. Or don't you know that?
Not too concerned about bacteria. It's all over your body, and in your mouth. A little bit in your food's not gonna matter much. MRE's kick ass, though.
I was in my house during Hurricane Ivan in Pensacola Florida, and after it was over, we went down to the local high school to get some ice, bottled water, and MREs. I never knew what one was before that time, but now we still have some boxed up, and they are the best tasting, most delicious meals to eat anywhere!!! I carry one or two on the trail whenever I hike!
@manatarms79 It is always a good idea to think of bacteria when out in the woods. However a small bottle of hand sanitizer with rubbing alcohol that kills 99% of germs is always a good thing to have around so you can clean your hands before you eat.
thanks for showing us how to open a spoon too
