The only reason people compare anything or anyone to something else is because they want to be able to understand it better. Music isn't for understanding, it's for listening and enjoying. Dr. Dog isn't like anybody but themselves and comparing them just discredits how amazing they are.

While I agree with that statement, I just want to point out that Lennon and McCartney wrote a lot of their songs just to be simple tunes. Some of the most popular Beatles songs aren't complex in meaning at all. Just pointing that out.

@diogen156 ... Scott of Dr. Dog admitted that it was probably the most dishonest song he had ever written. It was done as an exercise in writing an "angry" song. No simple explanation for all the verses though.
