  • now that's an America i want to live in. one that is lived on reality's terms, not a fairy-tail. maby if their were more atheist in the government their wouldn't be so many of our troops dieing over seas. cause these politicians think that when you die you really go on to heaven. good job military guy. show them bible thumpers what being a human being is all about, THE ATHEIST signing off.

  • i want to do one with ''so help me Higgs Boson'':)

  • The time has come to change "Army Chaplin" to "Army Counselor." They can continue to play an important role. God bless this chaplin - he seems like a really cool guy.

  • I'm proud of you, Sergeant Justin Griffith!

  • I'm retired military, the chaplains didn't have an issue with me as an atheist. The poor 2nd LT that pressed my dog tags dropped his mouth open when I said, "atheist." I did experience hostilities and discrimination from other enlisted members.

  • I'm okay with this.

  • Its good to see the religion of Atheism being respected!

  • @WellingtonKramer3 Lame, stop projecting.

  • @matthewtaylorbrown Another valid point! I am sorry for expressing my opinion, please forgive me.

  • @WellingtonKramer3 Still, on the other hand. I love that we have the freedom of say what we feel. You may feel that it is a religion. You are entitled to your opinion.

  • @WellingtonKramer3 the problem about that is that isn't an opinion if you're stating it as a fact.

  • @crazygeek777 yeah yeah, you caught me...I was lying when I said I respect your religion, you win.

  • @WellingtonKramer3 pfft, great job

    *say complete bullshit*

    *someone disproves bullshit*

*i was kidding when is said i respected you TROLOLOL*

  • @crazygeek777 I genuinely feel that atheism is a religion. Nothing to prove or disprove, I still don't respect you; never did, never will. Good luck with this faggotry, I'm out!

  • @WellingtonKramer3 atheism is a religion like not playing football is a sport.

  • Who needs a chaplain around a bunch of atheists? We could save loads of money by firing them. If we remove God from our armed forces, why are these "chaplains" still hanging on?

  • I am not nervous about affirming the oath for NG anymore. Thank you chaplain.

  • Griffith looks like Sheldon Cooper.

  • Anyone willing to dedicate their life to the service of their country should be shown this level of respect.

  • GREAT GOOOOOOOOOOOOO NAVY......IM SO PROUD OF OUR GREAT ATHEIST AWAKENING

  • Yeah, when I went into the service (mid-80's) I didn't realize I might have spoken up about swearing to God when I did my oath to enlist. Here I was, an American, wanting to support and defend the Constitution, which PROTECTED my right to be an Atheist, and so I wanted to join the military...but in order to join I had to swear to someone else's God. Made no sense to me.

  • Congrats Justin, thank you ery much Chaplain Strohm. *salute*

  • Congrats. This is great news.

  • Great!!

  • awesome!

  • Finally..... a man's rights are respected by someone of "faith". Thanks for posting this.

  • Great, now please leave the army and get a real job.

  • See George Carlin's bit on swearing on the bible. He asks important questions like what if you swear with your left hand? Or what if the bible is turned around or face down? Does it still count then?

  • No need for "so help me god". An imaginary friend does not do anything anyways.

  • Nice job sir, and good luck in the future!

  • This is beautiful. Love how excited he is! It is wonderful to be able to be yourself in the open.

  • The thing is (and I'm an atheist) he is the first I know to actually heed the words of his savior: don't swear. Let your yes be yes and your no be no. Th earth is the throne, the moon the footstool etc. but yes, this is the way it SHOULD be.

  • Congratulations Sgt. Griffith on your re-enlistment and thank you for your continuing service to the United States of America.

  • Amazing step for the US military. Now if they would just let us choose dogtags that say something like "No Religion" or "Atheist", instead of the only closest option, "No Preference".

  • @OzzyATC My dogtags say Atheist.

  • @sirtimatbob Still not an option for where I am. That's cool, though.

  • i like it! that's the way it should be and it was, before they changed it around 1957

  • Why are taxpayers paying the salary of a "God" person?

Can the soldier be 'legally' sworn in by a superior lay person?

  • Great example of how it should be done!

  • Freaking sweet!

  • Awesome! And thanks for you service (USN here!)
