  • How long does it take to learn how to play that...?

    This is awesome!!

    I'm happy to be a Nerd :3

  • Sheldon was right, this is awesome :D

  • This is my new favourite instrument :)

  • It's amazing ... Thermin is great and so the musician ... Wonderful!

  • Absolutely beautiful. Makes my geek inside all teary.

  • This is exquisite.

  • Talent.

  • This is simply breath-taking! Every time I listen to this one I get goosebumps upon goosebumps! Didn't know a Star Trek tune could sound so romantic & beautiful... it's gonna be candlelight and a Star Trek movie tonight.... smiles!

  • Simply superb. Well done, sir.

  • I love you and want to have your babies :)

  • You have unbelievable control on the theremin. Your pitch and timbre are exquisite!

I do keep wondering what would happen if you flipped us a birdie xD

  • Well played.

  • AMAZING!

  • Really beautiful and sweet. It does sound a bit Scottish. Thanks for making this available for us to see and hear.

    Bravo!

  • One of the most beautiful pieces played on a theremin that I've ever heard!

  • Bravissimo!

  • Very beautiful. Haunting, almost...

  • @NorthsideBill very true, haunting indeed, and memories

  • purely beautifully played and a beautiful piece of music whether you like star trek or not, the guy that wrote it should probably be very proud of the way Peter Pringle plays this lovely piece of music on the theremin

  • Lovely! :) It really does sound like a person whistling.

  • You are awesome.

  • This is fantastic, he should be knighted. The man is a God!!

  • pure talent

  • i hate star trek but damn this is awesome

  • AUGH.

    THIS SONG.

  • Since finding this I have listened to it everyday, and am constantly whistling this theme now. Also, I think I'm going to be forced to buy a theremin. Thank you for making this.

  • Choice of the background made it even better, the Theremin receives way to much negative when in fact it is one of the better instruments that sends shivers down my spine...

  • Obrigado! Maravilhoso!

  • Peter, I love the playing - but watching your tender facial expressions is really touching... You obviously love what you are doing - and in return, the music caresses our ears...

  • This song makes me cry... so sad... but I love it...

  • I am in love with this. I listen to it way too often.

  • It sounds beautiful on headphones. This must have taken a LOT of practice to pull off with that device!!! The Hubble image in the background is a nice touch BTW.

  • I perfer the version from the episode "Lessons" where the captain plays a duet with lutenant commander Daren in the Jeffries tube.

  • I prefer the version where the captain and lutenant commander whats-her-face play a duet of this in the Jeffries tube.

  • Impressive. Seriously.

  • 7 Stars!

  • Wil wheaton tweeted this =)

  • I love this song! And it's sounds really awesome! On this thing ^^

  • That's really nice, but I've got to say it's so high pitched it nearly hurts, still beautiful though.

  • Beautiful!

  • This is fantastic. Thank you so much!

  • This is so beautiful it brings tears to the eyes. Thank you so much for sharing this video!

  • I'm glad wilw sent me!

  • Woooow, nice! :D

Even though I exactly know how a Theremin works it still has some aroma of Magic with it - you know, the whole "playing in mid air"-thing. :)

  • This is the most beautiful rendition of this tune on Youtube!

  • Looks more like practicing the Rusty Trombone...amirite?

  • After reading about how the instrument is operated on Wikipedia, I'm even more impressed

  • Mad skillz. One of the top favorite 3 episodes

  • Why can't I see what he is playing it on. I don't know what a Thermin is.

  • @robshimer - what you see is all there is: he's playing an electrical field. Wikipedia has a splendid article on the history of the theramin, and the spoignant story of its creator.

  • @robshimer what you see IS the theramin - it reacts to the positioning of the hands.

  • It got a little dusty in my room listening to this song and thinking about that episode. Damn dust.

  • superb!

  • The accompaniment really sells it.

  • HOW DOES THAT INSTRUMENT EVEN WORK?? Off to Wiki...

  • Bravo Maestro!

  • Gorgeous. And a strangely beautiful sound in its purity. Thanks for performing it for us.

  • Just Brilliant !

  • BEAUTIFUL Thank you for this!

  • Just wow... I don't usually get teared up over music, but that... that was something else...

  • A beautiful piece of music, played beautifully... Very nice! =D

  • Its great to se a new video peter, I wish i could play like you, and such amazing thremins some day

  • Jeez! I'm so glad I didn't wear my Star Trek uniform and com badge! LOL

  • @copperleaves I wish I would have worn my star trek uniform and com badge :P

  • @copperleaves it would have been OK if you had. I'm going to put mine on and watch this again.

  • I agree with LordNapalm, this is amazing nerdy, but mean that in a good way. Great performance.

  • @ExTheremintal Good to see that you are still around. It's all gone a bit quiet on your channel.

  • Awesome rendition. That episode was one of the more touching ones they did.

    Thanks for doing this one.

  • Excellent job! Yes, that is one of my most favorite episodes! Powerfully emotional.

In a later episode they brought back that tune. Picard has a love intrest and they go into some of the ships conduits to play music and they jam on this tune a bit. The episode is called 'Lessons' I think. Do a search on "star trek TNG Jornada"

  • @JohnLRice

This explains why I remembered the tune but not the episode.

  • This is probably the nerdiest thing that has ever happened to the world.

    Thank you for this :)

  • Fantastic, takes me back to my STNG watching days. I miss the smile at the end though :)

  • Ah, the one thing NONE of my theremins will do- play with decent spacing in the upper tessitura! Excellent!

  • Love this episode, and LOVE this melody. This was an excellent rendition, thank you!
