Thanks so much Mccrackin1000.Lucky opportunity and how did you get to catch this?.I regret he wasn't with the band in 2002 when I saw them in Chile. 3 thumbs up.
Peter and some of th guys showed up in Sylmar Ca. in 73-74ish. There they had a house they stayed at on Blandin St. where I lived. Joe A.manager owned the house. The Band was in transition too Capitol Records. The Band became HUB for a short while during a break up.Joe went onto work with the Ohio Players lost touch with him.
there are 2 drum solo's that made rock history,Michael Shrive at woodstock with Santana (soul sacrifice) and Peter's on the 'in concert' album long version of get ready.
Keeps his eyes closed and still play's a hell of a beat. Modeled my playing after his (I need to keep my eyes open tho). Pete, with out you my mother would have not pushed me the way she did. Thanks, you have a talent that can't be over looked hope you live forever.
Man, this was great! It just goes to show that the really great ones don't have to put on a phony front and act like they're God's gift to the world. Peter Rivera is a true class act. I hope he can keep going for as long as he wants. We need more like him...
This is one great musical talent. Suprb drummer and singer. He has alot of feel for what he plays. As a kid I used to drum to this song when it came out as a single record in 1970.....keep going Peter !!!
I worked with Pete before. A few years back we did a classic rock allstars show at the Capitol Theatre in Wheeling WV. I was the house monitor engineer there at the time. I have no bad memories and a few good ones. they were a great bunch to work with.
The first R&R drummer who was the lead singer. Eat your heart out Phil Collins. Been listening to these guys since day one and 3 times a week in the gym on my MP3.
@DANNYLEHRMANN not that sad considering his options . He's doing what he wants to do and that is a good thing. He still produces the sound that many have listened to, danced to and aged to for all of those decades. Not sad at all. Just glad that the legend is still functioning and illuminating.
Fantastic the way Rare Earth covered the Temptations song..Get Ready is absolutely brilliant and a powerful version..singing by Peter is just the best. 2011 groups need to learn from him...
great memories,GREAT BAND,its a shame pete not a millionaire, but probaly gets a hefty royalty check. used to love dis band, thanx to youtube still do,.,.
Sir I pray you are in good health and still able to make music. Thanks for blessing me with your music and voice. Two weeks ago my 32-year-old son heard the live version of "Get Ready" and said that I had lived through a fantastic time in music history. It is a person like you who have made that history happen!Viva
I just wanted to ask if somebody has a contact or a e-mail of Peter Rivera i would like to ask about the terms for a concert , my e-mail is bookingforgigs@gmail.com
im from croatia , if the manager reads this please contact me , thank you !
Best voice in rock history, bar none! And how many bands can you think of, no more than a handful, that are fronted by the drummer?! I'm not far from Spokane, does anyone know if Celebrate plays locally?
Peter Rivera, was Rare Earth and is the Classic Rock All Stars. A few before him but there will be nobody after him. Saw him in the 70's and again in the 90's, Ageless.
I've always known how great a singer he is but damn he is one damn fine drummer on top of that. Something I never really paid attention to til recently when I heard the audio of a solo he did back in the day.
Me being a 50 year old just starting a singing carreer, I find it is comforting to see someone who has been singing hard for so long to still have a great voice.
Backed up rare Earth in Calgary 1982 for 2 weeks...had a great time...Pete was a great guy...still is...check out GerryELode on you tube...i posted a bunch of songs from a board tape I made...check them out
...other songwriters is not so bad...Three Dog Night was ALL other writers...and I don't think that is a bad thing...I am the complete Rare Earth/3DN nut...good to hear Pete is still out there rockin' it....
@jakerandall123 I agree. He actually wrote back to me when I sent him an email a couple of years back. He even took the trouble to listen to some tracks I recorded and gave his feedback. I was touched by his kindness.
Peter Rivera, one of the greatest soulful sounds of classic rock & roll. Excellent interview, its just great to here from these rockers and learn the history. The clip at the end is cool as well. Thank's again McCrackin for sharing.
