  • We did this with milk jugs back in the 70's. Just pour a few cups of boiled water into a jug (with a funnel) and then cap it. Can let it cool naturally, or dunk it into a sink of cold water. The jug will collapse as the heated air inside the jug cools and contracts.

  • It's a song by Blockparty called Banquet.

  • can anyone tell me the name of the song on the background?

  • It happens because of air pressure. Water in the can turns to steam when heated. As the steam rises, the number of molecules left in the can decreases. Turning the can upside down with the opening below the water line in the pan assures air molecules cannot rush back into the can as it cools. As the water vapor in the can begins to cool, it condenses, creating a partial vacuum. The pressure outside the can is normal air pressure, while the pressure inside is significantly lower.

  • Sweet. That experiment never gets old.

  • Why It Happen?

  • @sebastian9317

/watch?v=xZdfcRiDs8I&NR=1 this will help explain why it happens.
