  • Air horn should work.

  • @Doomknight19 i m just like hannah and i can wake up when my alarm clock goes off and i did let my alarm clock goes off at twentysix

  • Strobes are designed to wake you up.

  • Rig a SUPER LOUD horn to that bic. They'll wake up.

  • and also thats why the new voice system that uses the parents voice it works way better

  • i am living proof i sleep right through them

  • WHAT? and if the fire is outside the adults bedroom? then what?

  • wow

  • im 14 and i can only here something thats loud as train horns at night cuz im deaf i cant hear nothing except if its loud like train horns are! so if a smoke alarm goes off i wont hear it same with my mom shes deaf to so she cant hear it ether

  • @chris40539 hi i m just playin tricks is your mom cant hear anything

  • Ya kno people gotta sleep so u don't have them cuz they be all crabby in the morning and It will disturb da parents with behavior

  • I am 26 and have slept through all sorts of early morning fire drills...

  • Guys there freaking smoke alarms. Fire alarms are what are in a building. I have to say those kids might have autism. Don't make fun of autistic people. But smoke alarms are actually not that loud (to me 85 decibels is not loud). Fire bells are loud.

  • I'm 13 and I don't hear fire alarms go off.

  • One person is not all childhood stupid ass news. Just more propaganda to push yet another rights violation man made idiot law.

  • Smoke alarms have piezo horns that are too high in pitch for many people with high-end hearing loss, and the same is true for most wired-in fire alarm horns. In the past, bells or low-pitch horns were used and easily heard, but these new alarms are simply too high in pitch.

  • Smoke alarms don't do a darn for me. neither do alarm clocks. Slept through mine several times now.

  • I dont hear the alarm because i covered up the one in my room. Youkno, for smoking (: haa dont judge me, that thing is damn loud.

  • Or.. Get a big ass red fire bell put one each in others bedroom. "Sounds" quite effective. Eh?

  • The fire alarm at my school plays a recording and a siren it says this "Emergency please exit the building." And the alarm is kinda like a tornado siren but not as loud lol

  • I HAVE THAT ALRM NOW AT MY HOUSE

  • At my university, the fire alarms in all the buildings on campus (including dorms) have both beeping and recorded exit instructions that alternate every few seconds. There are also bright white lights that flash every other second- like a slow strobe light. I think the only thing you could improve on would be to add the wasabi scent for the hearing impaired.

  • Standards here dictate 74 DB at the pillow for fire alarms. A $11.00 smoke alarm in the hall will not deliver that.

Response is largely programming of the brain. I awake instantly for the phone, smoke sensors and the fire bell. This is a programmed response.

A smoke sensor in the bed room works but is only really useful if the window is usable as an exit.

Some of our equipment uses automated voices, (Napco 3000) and Strobes.

Visual and hearing impaired may need it all.

  • Thank you so much for sharing this valuable bit of information. Fire alarms are indeed necessary for every household but innovations too are required to make them more effective when there are kids concerned.

  • i wake up if i hire any noes even if some one gets up to go to the batheroom i wood wake up i wake up very ezzy

  • i wake up to them

  • @phillies4100 Same here.

  • I used to do that untill I turned 18

  • Kids can hear them when they're awake they just can't wake up to them when they're sleeping.

  • they need a voice evac system with their parents voice. "WHOOP, WHOOP, WHOOP, THIS IS DAD! GET THE F*** OUTTA BED!"

  • Comment removed

  • rolf they get up "whaa?..oh..hmm..zZZzz..wha?..fine!"

  • we have alarms in each room of the house you dont notice them because there in the corner....it sorta sounds like a steady air horn......that wakes you up

  • fuck those kids they are probally autistic or have strong special needs people kids dont sleep a fire alarm Ive herd them they are loud as shit!

  • there are some people where once they're out, they're out

  • *hugs* (dad) "It worked."

(daughter) "That's great. Turn that thing off, I want more sleep..."

  • i react to them when thay goe off

  • I think fire alarms would be more effective

  • @crazyboy72375 Its Espensive

  • @Shawn09871 dude i freaken know that

  • @crazyboy72375 well you dont have to be a bitch about it

  • im 12 and i woke up it was 7 am

  • OK? Were the smoke detectors going off?

  • not smoke detector but fire alarm and its in my romm

  • So what you are saying that you have a fire alarm(s) in your room and it went off and you woke up?

  • I was responding to plyror's comment previously. They may not know there is a fire if they are in REM sleep. The fire alarm with the parents' voices is a great idea as long as it will wake the child up.I am referring to a case when a parent is unable to reach their child's bedroom.Children should have a chance to save themselves. If they are in REM sleep, do not respond to the fire alarm, and the parent cannot get to them to save them, then the only thing we can do is to pray someone can save them.

  • Parents can be may not be able to help their children if there is a fire. The fire may be in a location that does not allow access to their child's bedroom. Children should have a chance to save themselves. I am talking about children old enough to wake up, get out of bed, and leave the house on their own. Children should not be treated as helpless individuals and need to be able to take care of themselves in the event of a fire if the parents are not able to.

  • Ok. If that's true, HOW would they know if there's a fire and they're in deep REM sleep?!

  • Great story but does it need to be so sensationalistic?

  • those will definetely wake them up

  • then use simplex true alerts

  • put them in there rooms and above there beds that will wake them up also hook them up to there alarm clooks

  • die solle mal einen tifferen und mit mehreren tönnen entwickeln

  • yea if the parents got up wouldn't you think they would get the kids up? what is it every one for them selves now?

  • no, but depending on where the fire, is it's best if everyone who is intelligent enough (not babys, can wake up and get out

  • plus what if the parents are incapacitated? Helloooooo, smoke inhalation? Uncouncious?

  • For our family it would not matter if my kids slept through the alarm. . My wife or I would be up the instant the alarm fired, then we would simply go down the hall, grab the kids, and get out. . .I think it's more important for the adult of the house to wake up FIRST. Who cares if the infant woke up to the alarm, and could not get out of the crib! He would still need an awake adult to get him out. . .and according to this report the adults seem to always wake up to these alarm frequencies.

  • So I guess the old 'non-vocal' smoke alarms didn't conduct proper tests or drills.

  • Where do I get those alarms?

  • eBay. Type in 'vocal smoke detector'

  • thx

  • Excellent Newsworthy Item: What a nice change.

As a parent of two, I'm going to look for an add-on for vocal signals.

I'm also sharing this with every parent I know.

  • Thank-you so much for this video I was unaware of this and I will now do a test to see if my children hear the alarm.

  • i think this is crazy. i never would have thought that could be if i hadnt seen it. i believe rebecca should have been able to wake up i know at 12 i would have been able to wake up. if she cant wake up she shouldnt be watching he little brother!!!

  • Well, obviously, she isn't you. People's brains are different.

  • you really dont need to be like that toward me i was just stating what i believe which is why they have a comments board on here...

  • Be like what towards you? I was just saying that people's brains do things differently. For example, I'm 15, and I definitely wouldn't have woken up to the first smoke alarm, as I am a very deep sleeper.

  • @llallen0724 oliva is in under covers hannah no movement at all rebecca campbell sleepin sadly lucy sits up i m just like hannah i m going to sleep and no movement

  • Every paret needs to view this!
